The method includes: verifying a condition satisfied if the uncertified caller identity and the at least one certified caller identity are different; and if the condition is satisfied, detecting expiry of a waiting duration following the verification, this duration being equivalent to the duration of at least one ring; and following the expiry and if no message is detected indicating the end of the original communication, presenting to the called device the original communication with at least one caller identity from among the uncertified caller identity and the at least one certified caller identity, the original communication not being presented to the called device before the detection.

Abstract: A system can be operable to receive a call from a communication device and identify whether the call is a spoofed based on, for example, whether a caller party user equipment associated with a caller identification number (caller ID number) is in an “idle” status, whether there are inconsistencies in the geographic location associated with a calling party's network and the geographic location determined to be associated with the caller ID number presented, and whether the phone number presented as the caller ID number is registered with a calling party's network.

A user equipment (UE) can generate a request for resources that can be shared with an selection component remote from the UE. The request for resources can be generated independent of the UE receiving information about an access point (AP) in range of the UE. The selection component can pair the UE with an AP resource based on AP data and UE data. The selection component can generate a token comprising information related to the pairing. The UE can receive the token via a device other than the AP or via the AP. The token can be employed by the UE to initiate a link to the AP to enable use of the AP resource by the UE. The link can be resource sensitive in view of the request for resources and available AP resources.

Abstract: A system and method for providing customer-support services to a user of a website through a web widget. When the user accesses a web page containing the web widget, a call is automatically made from the web widget to a customer-support system. In response to the call, the system obtains status information from the customer-support system indicating whether customer-support agents are available to take telephone phone calls. If the status information indicates customer-support agents are available to take telephone calls, the web widget provides a call-related interface to the user, wherein the call-related interface is configured to facilitate a telephone call with a customer-support agent. If the status information indicates customer-support agents are not available to take telephone calls, the web widget provides a non-call-related interface to the user, wherein the non-call-related interface is configured to facilitate an alternative channel of customer support that does not involve a telephone call.

As each number source is modified with a new CPN, the whitelist may also be augmented automatically, or based upon a confirmation from a user of the smartphone. A contact center originating voice calls to the smartphone may be configured to generate a text call to the smartphone in order to populate the whitelist with the CPN that will be used when originating a subsequent voice call to the smartphone. Thus, the contact center can originate a text call to the smartphone to potentially increase the likelihood that a subsequent voice call will be passed by the whitelist.

Abstract: An apparatus for blocking unwanted calls is disclosed. The apparatus incorporates a whitelist which the user can program so that known friendly callers are not interrupted by the apparatus. The apparatus also incorporates a blacklist which automatically rejects known unwanted callers so that the user is not interrupted by these calls. Additionally, the apparatus allows the user to easily add new numbers to either the blacklist or white list and also to delete numbers from the white list, blacklist or master list of caller IDs. For new numbers, callers are presented with a simple but yet effective message that states that the caller should hang up if the caller is a solicitor or telemarketer, or otherwise press zero so that the apparatus can allow the call to go through to the telephone.
