Abstract: Enforcing user-defined real-time communication session terminations can begin with a termination enforcement handler identifying termination conditions applicable to a real-time communication session hosted by a unified telephony system. The termination conditions can define a limit for an operational variable for the unified telephony system or the real-time communication session. The identified termination conditions can be evaluated. If a termination condition is satisfied, it can be determined which participants are to be disconnected from the real-time communication session based upon handling rules for the termination conditions and/or termination preferences associated with the real-time communication session. The termination preferences can be defined by an initiating entity of the real-time communication session. The participants can be notified that their connection to the real-time communication session will be terminated in a predefined time limit.

A trigger is created, where the trigger comprises trigger criteria. At least one POI, landmark, and/or location-based information database containing a plurality of POIs, landmarks, and/or location-based information data is monitored for a match between the trigger criteria and at least one POI, landmark, and/or location-based information category. If a match exists, the trigger is activated, thereby executing a related action or event. Furthermore, additional search criteria can be combined with the trigger criteria to enhance the LBT process.

The called party's location is determined via a location based service associated with the mobile device of the called party. Based at least in part on the called party's mobile device location, a phone number stored in computer readable memory is selected. The calling party is connected to a communication device associated with the selected phone number.

Abstract: A system and method for providing wireline telephone services may include providing wireline telephone service to a residence for a customer to place telephone calls. In response to receiving an activate code, the wireline telephone service may be activated. In response to receiving a deactivate code, the wireline telephone service may be deactivated. The customer may be billed for the wireline telephone service. In one embodiment, the customer is billed a premium service charge when the wireline telephone service is active and a lower service charge when the wireline telephone service is inactive.

Abstract: Systems and methods for managing the status of participants of a tele-networking meeting are disclosed. During a tele-networking meeting, a network device may monitor the talk time of each participant of the meeting. If a participant's talk time exceeds the target talk time, the network device may prompt the chair, and the chair may take action. Action may include managing a participants status by muting, disconnecting, or spinning the participant off into a subconference. Additionally, during a tele-networking meeting, a chair may also create a subconference on network device. Thus, the chair may be able to spin off participants of a tele-networking meeting into a subconference controlled by a subchair.

Abstract: Safe parking and retrieval of multimodal conversations is enabled through a park server generating a token and encoding it in an address identifier associated with a parking slot. A client application can display the address identifier with the token as a link in a text-based message or in conversation history items. The identifier encoded link may ensure that the intended call can be retrieved from a given parking slot without being confused with another parked call. If another call is parked at the same orbit, the encoded token does not match, and the park server may reject the retrieval attempt with an error message.

If the identified callee is a registered AOR (604), a uniform resource identifier (URI) parameter and a globally routable user agent URI (GRUU) associated with callee capabilities are identified (608, 612, 614). The URI parameter is used to create a modified SIP including the URI parameter (616) for sending (618) to an IMS enabled wireless communication device (120).

Abstract: Control and status information between a mobile device and another device can be signaled over a voice channel using DTMF tones, e.g., a pre-defined sequence of DTMF tones can signal a desired message (more generally, a feature code). Tones sent are separated from each other by a time gap (Tgap timer). If a receiving device does not receive a sequence of DTMF tones that can be matched to stored definitions of feature codes, then the receiving device generates a negative ACK. Also, if the sending device does not receive either negative or positive ACK, then sending device resends all tones of the feature code after a retry delay (Tretry timer). Rather than having the Tretry timer start when tones for a feature code start to be transmitted, the Tretry timer is started after the Tgap timer expires for the last tone of a feature code. Thus, only one timer is running (either Tgap or Tretry), rather than having multiple timers running concurrently. Race conditions between the timers are avoided.

According to one method, a message is received that includes a telephone number and information associated with a country of origin of the telephone number. Abstract: The present invention includes a method and software application for providing a promotion to a user on a phone. The software application resides on a user's phone and “listens” for phone numbers dialed by a user. In response to the user dialing a phone number, the software determines whether a promotion or an offer for a promotion should be provided to the user. In response to determining to play or offer to play a promotion to the user, the software application on the phone effectively “intercepts” the call and plays to the user either a promotion or an offer to hear about a promotion prior to placing an outbound voice call. The software application may retrieve the promotion from local memory or may connect with a remote server to download an applicable promotion.

Abstract: A method, system and apparatus for implementing a Multimedia Ring Back Tone (MRBT) service are provided. The method includes: receiving a call request originated by a calling terminal; parsing a tone playing policy specifying whether to play a caller tone or a callee tone or whether to filter a tone; performing caller tone media negotiation or callee tone media negotiation, or performing no tone negotiation according to the parsing result; and playing the caller tone or the callee tone to the caller, or playing no tone. With the technical solution of the present invention, the caller tone service can be implemented in the IMS domain. Whether a caller tone or a callee tone is played to the caller is determined according to a preset policy. Furthermore, the tone filtering service is also implemented. This gives a user freedom in experiencing the MRBT service.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to processing calls to busy telecommunications lines. In one embodiment, the presence of a subscriber accessing a computer network over a first telephone line via a first computer terminal is detected, wherein the subscriber also has a first telephone station connected to the first line. When a caller calls the first line and the first line is busy, the call is forwarded to a second telephone line associated with a call manager system. The call manager system determines when the subscriber is no longer accessing the computer network. At least partly in response to determining that the subscriber is no longer accessing the computer network, the call manager system transmits a text message to the caller, the message including the subscriber's phone number. The caller can then call back the first line using the transmitted phone number.

According to an embodiment, information contained in a contact record is displayed, where the information includes a plurality of entries. Abstract: A mobile device is engaged in a connected data service via a wireless network. The connected data service utilizes a radio traffic channel established between the mobile device and the wireless network and a data session for communicating data. While engaged in the service, the mobile device receives via a user interface a voice call request for initiating a voice call. In response to the request, the mobile device permits the initiation of the voice call. Specifically, the mobile device causes the radio traffic channel for the connected data service to be torn down without terminating the data session. The mobile device also causes the voice call to be established and maintained over a new radio traffic channel via the wireless network while the data session for the data service is maintained.

Abstract: Systems and methods to provision a non-handset target device with wide-area communication service, such as wireless wide area network (WWAN) technology. Identifying information of the target device can be provided to a provisioning service provider (PSP) via a mobile provisioning device over a communication network. The PSP can determine the service carrier associated with the mobile provisioning device and enable the provisioning of the target device with the wide-area communication service to the service carrier via the mobile provisioning device. A billing plan can be instituted for the service of the target non-handset device relating to a billing plan of the mobile provisioning device.

Abstract: System and methods for preventing abusive use of a click-to-call callback function of virtual PBX services are disclosed. In some implementations, a challenge-response procedure can be implemented, and a click-to-call request is allowed when a correct response is timely received. In some implementations, one or more system wide policies can be applied in determining whether a click-to-call request should be allowed or denied. A system policy for blocking and unblocking requests having a particular request parameter (e.g., source IP address) is disclosed. An account specific policy for setting the state of a particular account targeted by a click-to-call request as normal, warning, or blocked, based on the current status of the particular account is also disclosed.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for preventing unauthorized persons from using an electronic device within a facility. In such an embodiment, the system may include a RFID tag having unique identification information associated with a wearer of the RFID tag. The RFID tag may be comprised in a non-removable item worn by the wearer, such as a bracelet. This system may also include an RFID reader associated with the electronic device and having an RFID coverage zone for detecting RFID tags within the coverage zone. A device management system may be connected to the reader and configured to determine whether a wearer in the coverage zone is authorized to use the electronic device based at least in part on detected RFID tag's unique identification information. In such an embodiment, the device management system is configured to activate the electronic device if it determines the authorized wearer is detected in the coverage zone.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for detecting feature interactions in multi-party calls (i.e., calls involving more than two endpoints), and in calls with bridged appearances. In accordance with the illustrative embodiment, a set of rules is applied to the specifications of two features in order to detect interactions between the features. The rules specify conditions for, or relationships among, the original connections for the features, the resulting connections for the features, the triggering party for the features, and the originating and terminating parties of connections. A rule is considered matched for a multi-party call when any of the original and resulting connections for the call match the conditions of the rule. Similarly, a rule is considered matched for a call with one or more bridged appearances when any of the original and resulting connections for the call, including those of bridged appearances, match the conditions of the rule.

Abstract: Mechanisms are disclosed that allow for the use of a false background, or background tone, in voice input in a telephonic call. A voice input may have both voice from a user talking and a background noise input which may be every other noise received at the user's phone. A trigger to use a background tone is received, the background tone is selected and the associated background tone file is retrieved. Then, a combiner combines the voice input with the background tone file. A filter may be used to filter the actual background noise from the voice input. Additionally, background tones may be used in various telephonic networks, including traditional land-line and wireless cellular networks.

Abstract: Subscribers of an enhanced communication system are enabled to indicate invocation or clearing of media specific features such as music-on-hold or video-on-hold. Abstract: A method is disclosed that provides the sharing of a station-mapping description with a first private-branch exchange, where the description has been initialized and maintained at a second private-branch exchange. Such a description describes a logical association between a station extension of an enterprise deskset and a telephone number of an off-premises terminal, such as a cell phone. As a result of the sharing across private-branch exchanges, an incoming call from a second employee's cell phone can be recognized, by a first employee being called, as coming from the calling second employee. This is because the incoming call is identified with the telephone extension of the calling employee's deskset terminal in spite of the call being placed from the cell phone, or other telephone number at large. This is particularly important where a large company engineers its enterprise's telecommunications system across multiple private-branch exchanges.

The invention pertains to cell phone calls from an to his or her “home” private branch exchange. For example, an employee who works at the Chicago branch office might call the Chicago office's PBX to invoke a feature such as setting up call forwarding, retrieving voice mail, etc. In the illustrative embodiment, such calls might be automatically and transparently directed to another PBX when it is advantageous to do so (e.g., for the purposes of security, reducing toll charges, because of unavailability of a particular PBX, etc.) Factors that might be used to determine whether to re-direct a call and to which PBX to re-direct a call include the day and time of the call, the network that the cell phone is currently connected to, etc.

Abstract: The subject disclosure is directed towards a technology by which a caller can set his or her cellular phone or similar device to automatically sense a called party's busy telephone line for when it becomes free, independent of any carrier-provided monitoring service. If free, the caller is prompted with an option to automatically redial the called party. The called party's line may be sensed seamlessly, that is, without any caller action and/or realization by the called party phone that it is being sensed (e.g., no missed call detected), by processing status messages obtained in response to quickly canceled calls.
