Abstract: A heat press includes a clutch and a linkage that moves the upper platen relative to the lower platen from a first position to a second position. The distance between the upper and lower platen is less in the second position than in the first position. The clutch is coupled to the linkage and mounted to the upper platen. The clutch is configured to adjust the distance between the upper and lower platens in the second position in response to movement of the upper platen from the first position to the second position being impeded by a work piece positioned between the lower platen and the upper platen.
Abstract: A laundry treatment appliance having a humidity measuring arrangement comprising a sensing unit for sensing an electric parameter associated with a laundry load housed in a laundry treatment chamber, a processing unit for determining the humidity of the laundry load according to the sensed electric parameter, and a conductive element electrically coupled to the processing unit and arranged such that, when an at least partially conductive body is in proximity of the conductive element, an electric signal is generated by capacity coupling between the conductive element and the least partially conductive body, wherein the processing unit is configured to access a presence or absence of a user near the appliance according to a pattern of the electric signal at the processing unit.

Abstract: A peripheral safety guard apparatus for protection of an operator of a garment finishing press. The guard bar encircles the press head and includes connection to a pivotable connector member positioned to connect with a reciprocating activation device controlling actuating valves in communication with a source of pneumatic power for movement of the press head. Upon manipulation of the guard bar by an operator, the guard bar moves in advance of movement of the press head between an open, inoperative position and a closed, operative position. After manipulation of the guard bar, the activation device actuates valves with resulting movement by transfer of pneumatic power of the press head between inoperative and operative positions. Movement of the guard bar in advance of the press head between inoperative and operative positions, protects the operator from entrapment of a body part during downward movement of the press head to the operative position.

Abstract: A garment and laundry press including a relatively movable press buck and press head one of which is connected to pivotal arm structure at one thereof with the other end of said pivotal arm structure being connected to a longitudinally extending fluid pressure driven rotatable actuator member.
Abstract: A press and in particular a garment press and method of making same are provided wherein such press has a support structure, a first member carried by the support structure and is adapted to support a workpiece, a second member carried by the support structure, an actuator for urging the second member toward the first member and against the workpiece to apply a pressing force thereagainst, and guide means operatively connected between the second member and the support structure for guiding the second member toward and away from the first member with the actuator and guide means cooperating to enable the actuator to apply the pressing force while keeping the support structure free of loads caused by the actuator.
