Abstract: A compound speaker system comprising a woofer, a squawker, a tweeter, and a super tweeter. The squawker, the tweeter, and the super tweeter are attached to a plate and the assembly is rotatably positioned within the cone of the woofer. Since the squawker, the tweeter, and the super tweeter are positioned at different distances from the axis of the assembly rotation, it is possible to design the system such that the speaker which reproduces relatively directional sound, such the tweeter or the super tweeter takes an elevated position as compared to the squawker when the assembly is rotated within the woofer cone.
Abstract: A loudspeaker and enclosure assembly, comprising: a load bearing member exhibiting good thermal conductivity; at least one loudspeaker mounted on the load bearing member and in thermal engagement therewith; and, an enclosure having walls formed of rigid light-weight material mounted on the load bearing member to enclose the at least one loudspeaker, whereby the assembly is easily moved and mounted and thermal energy generated by operation of the loudspeaker is effectively dissipated through the load bearing member. The enclosure may be a rigid foam-filled member defining a generally funnel-shaped bore therein to form a horn for the loudspeaker, whereby a modular construction of interchangeable integrally formed enclosures and horns can be achieved.
Abstract: A silicon micro-transmitter chip is housed within top and bottom closures snap-fitted together by legs and catches on the two closures. The chip is mounted between two acoustic cavities in the closures by a plate part of a configured metal sheet having other strip parts extending through grooves in the bottom closure to its outside where the strips are bent to provide arms for surface mounting the entire device on a printed wiring board. The sheet serves both as a continuous strap for effecting such surface mounting and as an electrode for connecting a terminal of the chip to ground. Other terminals of the chip are connectable to the board by flat leads passing through other grooves in the bottom closure to its outside where they are bent for surface mounting purposes. The housing formed by the two closures includes an adhesive impregnated gasket for providing an acoustic seal between the two cavities as to which the air pressures therein are equalized by a vent hole in the plate.

Abstract: A multiple speaker loudspeaker of the type comprising a larger speaker including a larger frame and at least one smaller speaker including a smaller speaker support structure is provided with first and second rigid power conductors which are rigidly mounted both to the larger frame and to the smaller speaker support structure such that the power conductors support the smaller speaker permanently in place in front of the larger speaker. These power conductors are electrically interconnected both to the smaller speaker and to power input terminals of the loudspeaker such that the first and second power conductors conduct electrical audio signals from the input terminals to the smaller speaker.
Abstract: A speaker system for automotive car stereo sets, includes a high range unit, a low range unit and a body for receiving the high range unit and the low range unit. The high range unit is movable to a desired height with respect to a retracted position. Upon the movement of the high range unit, a slant angle of the high range unit is varied so that a sound generated from the high range unit is directed to a driver or passenger sitting on his seat.
Abstract: An integrated amplifier and speaker system is disclosed which is designed to use air waves produced by the excursion of the speaker diaphragm together with a heat sink for maintaining the temperature of the power transistors within a safe operating range at or below a desired maximum temperature level. By integrally designing the speaker and the amplifier, the increase in cooling capability provided by the speaker diaphragm excursion allows for the use of a heat sink having an area or heat dissipating capability lower than that required had the system not been integrally designed.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing low frequency sound (20 to 100 Hz) at levels of intensity above the minimum threshold of human hearing. A mechanical-electrical drive having high power capacity is coupled via a linkage to a sound radiator and is responsive to the electrical input from a sound program source. The drive is capable of large excursions at high forces which are substantially constant irrespective of the extent of excursion.
Abstract: A lighting device incorporates therein a loudspeaker including a diaphragm detachably fastened at an outer peripheral edge thereof to a cup-shaped frame. The diaphragm is made of a light-transmissive material. The lighting device has a light source such as a circular fluorescent lamp disposed in a space defined between the frame and the diaphragm. Light emitted from the circular fluorescent lamp passes through the light-transmissive diaphragm.
Abstract: A directional acoustic transducer includes a plurality of acoustic paths each having first and second ends. The second end of each path terminates in the atmosphere. An electroacoustic device is attached to an acoustic cavity and the acoustic path first ends are coupled to the said acoustic cavity through an acoustic arrangement adapted to produce a predetermined transducer directional response pattern.
Abstract: A local external communication system for use by a person wearing a mask covering the nose and mouth and in sealing engagement with the face in which an assembly secured to the outer surface of the mask without in any way affecting the integrity of the mask seal generates an output signal in response to the wearer's voice. The output signal is fed to a speaker carried on the wearer's body to produce an output which is audible to other persons in the vicinity of the wearer.
Abstract: Audible entertainment signals are also filtered to detect speech presence whereby only frequencies in the band 0-150 Hz, are applied to vibrate a listener's chair for special effects.
Abstract: A high fidelity loudspeaker system having at least one additional smaller speaker mounted above the largest speaker. The loudspeaker is of the type having a permanent magnet and a moving coil, and the smaller speaker or speakers are mounted on a support member which passes through the moving coil of the largest speaker. The mounted base for the smaller speaker or speakers is held to a support pedestal by a set of male and female interlocking members.
Abstract: A stereo sound and light track system includes one or more sound fixtures and one or more light fixtures, each fixture being independently mounted for movement on a track to any mounted position thereon. A bus bar assembly including audio bus bar conductors and power bus bar conductors are mounted on the track which is grounded. Connectors are provided on the fixtures to make electromechanical contact with the appropriate bus bar conductors and ground. Stereo sound can be transmitted by the sound fixtures and light can be emitted from the light fixtures in any of their respective mounted positions.
Abstract: A superminiature microphone device includes a hollow body in the form of a decorative clothing accessory, a microphone unit including lead wires within the body, and a plug connected by the lead wires to the microphone unit wherein the plug has at least one pin-shaped terminal. A cord connector including a conical collet chuck is arranged to receive the pin-shaped terminal of the microphone unit plug from behind an article of clothing such as a necktie. A clamp member is arranged around the tip portion of the chuck for clamping the chuck about the plug terminal in response to a spring force. Accordingly, an electric cord can be routed from the connector behind the article of clothing so as to connect the microphone unit with an outside device so that the wearer's appearance is not affected by the presence of the connection cord.
