The method comprises a first step of folding a sheet (60) made of flexible material along two first fold lines (L1) which are mutually parallel so as to form a tubular element (61).

Abstract: Improved packages and methods for constructing packages are provided that reduce or prevent leakage into or out of the package. In particular, the package includes a base member and a lidding member with a reinforced perimeter portion that blocks channels that may form at the interface between the base member and the lidding member from extending to the edge of the base member, such that, e.g., liquids have no path to the package exterior. The perimeter portion may be a thicker region of a first film of the lidding member (e.g., a polyethylene emulsion), or the perimeter portion may be formed using permanent adhesive. Frangible layers and/or cut lines may be defined in the material of the base member or the lidding member to allow a controlled break to occur when the lidding member is peeled away from the base member to provide access to the package contents.

Abstract: A slider for a closure assembly of a bag. The slider has a top wall and a pair of wings extending from the top wall. A first wing of the pair of wings includes a first finger pad and a surrounding lip, and a second wing of the pair of wings includes a second finger pad and a surrounding lip. The first and second finger pads each have a major axis dimension that is larger than a minor axis dimension to provide a slider with an improved ergonomic feel.

Abstract: A resealable closure for a container in which package integrity is indicated by a structure which connects the closure to a remaining portion of the container which must be broken in order to gain access to the contents of the container for a first time. The package integrity feature, in one form, includes a structure associated with the closure, wherein upon opening the closure for a first time, the structure stretches, increasing a length of the structure until the structure eventually breaks, leaving one or both residual ends of the broken structure rippled or curved upward from the remainder of the container. In one alternative form, the structure is associated with a pull tab of the sealing panel, which comprises the closure, whereby either the structure must be broken first, prior to pulling back the sealing panel, or while pulling back the sealing panel for a first time, the structure breaks, prior to gaining access to the contents therein.

Abstract: Damage indicating packaging is disclosed. A damage indicating material may be applied between inner and outer wrapper layers. When the damage indicating material is exposed to oxygen, excessive heat and/or excessive pressure, the material changes in appearance to thereby alert the user that the package may be compromised. The damage indicating material may include an anti-counterfeiting taggant material. Active and intelligent tamper-evident packaging is thus provided.

A textured area is provided on the first closure profile adjacent to the interlocking member and adjacent to an end of the first closure profile. The textured area provides a visual cue to indicate that the process of sealing the interlocking members should begin at the end of the first closure profile and move towards a center of the bag.

Abstract: A recloseable package is provided having a tamper-indicating element. The tamper-indicating element include one or more self-terminating shapes that form one or more chads after opening the recloseable package. Advantageously, the self-terminating shapes provide a simple, visual cue of graphical alignment in the seal to show the customer whether or not a package has been opened.

The score that defines the opening flap cuts only into the outer layer of the film lamination and not through the sealing layer of film. A pressure-sensitive label functions as a sealing panel which completely covers the flap of the laminated film layer. A releasable adhesive is provided a pressure sensitive label that is applied over the film layer forming the top of the container. The pressure-sensitive label provides a sealing panel which is releasable from the film layer outside the perimeter of the score by peeling back the sealing panel. After opening the flap, the sealing panel of the pressure-sensitive label is reclosable against the top to seal the access opening.

Abstract: A flexible pouch is having a lenticular image is provided. The lenticular image may be used to add depth or an animated effect to the aesthetic design of the flexible pouch. The lenticular layer is incorporated into the laminate of the flexible pouch. A lenticular patch is also applied to a surface of the flexible pouch. The lenticular image may be visible about the sealed portions of the flexible pouch. Since the appearance of the lenticular image will be distorted if the lenticular lens is bent or stretched, the lenticular image may be used as a stress indicator to signify portions of the flexible pouch that have been structurally compromised.

The tamper-evident feature comprises a portion of the top adjacent the opening and covered by the sealing layer, which extends from a position spaced from, and extends towards and terminates at the opening of the container. A perforated panel is cut into the wrapper for movement between open and closed positions. The perforated panel defines a wrapper opening in the wrapper when the perforated panel is in the open position to allow access to the goods disposed within the resealable packaging container. A pressure sensitive coated collar adhesively engages the inner surface of the wrapper underneath the perforated panel to partially surround the wrapper opening. The pressure sensitive coated collar includes an open central portion that is disposed inwardly of the wrapper opening and an exposed region that extends between the wrapper opening and the open central portion. The perforated panel reseals to the exposed region of the pressure sensitive coated collar in the closed position.

Abstract: Provided is a tamper proof outer wrapping with a reinforced tear zone. The reinforced tear zone includes a tear tape affixed between two layers of the wrapping material. A perforated line runs parallel to the reinforced tear zone on each of the reinforced tear zone. A tab is formed at one end of the reinforced tear zone. The tab is pulled to separate the reinforced tear zone from the remaining wrapping material and open remove the outer wrapping. The wrapping can be used on packages containing smoking articles such as cigarettes or orally consumed products such as candy or pouched tobacco products.

The integral skirt structure includes a distal margin. The distal margin is coupled to the web material at, at least one location between the areas of structural weakness and the opening. The reclosable fastener structure extends past the areas of structural weakness and into the fold structure. The reclosable bag capable of being filled with at least one food product through the opening.

Abstract: A tamper evidencing band for encircling an article includes an elongate strip. The band is provided with a loop. The loop is such that attempted opening or removal of the loop will be evidenced by the band. The strip has a portion distal from the loop, which is insertable through the loop. Attachment means is provided to selectively attach the distal portion onto another portion of the strip to encircle the article whereby attempted removal of the attachment will be evidenced by the band. The tamper evidencing band may be provided as a flat strip with the loop unformed. Alternatively, the tamper evidencing band may be provided in kit form with a separate buckle to define the loop.

Abstract: A combination operated lock for use with a security container that has a zippered closure operated by a pull tab movable between open and closed positions, with the lock being operable, when locked, to retain the pull tab in closed position until the lock is unlocked by setting a combination. The lock preferably has a housing connected to a flexible fabric wall of the security container, and dials that are turned to set a combination for unlocking the lock. In some embodiments, the lock cannot be unlocked unless and until a one-use seal is broken and removed from the housing to which the seal was attachable only after the lock was locked.

The strips may include a weakened portion such as a narrowing. Integrity of the package is indicated by an intact strip viewable upon opening the resealable closure and conversely, a broken or non-intact strip would indicate that the resealable closure has been previously opened. Package integrity may also be shown by a movable second panel or movable die cut tab portions.

Abstract: A reclosable flexible package having a reclosable closure comprising easy-to-use adhesive securement means in combination with non-reclosable closures provided above and below the reclosable closure. The package provides a re-openable seal for reclosing the bag upon a partial discharge of the contents thereof, such as food contents. The flexible package offers manufacturing ease and cost-savings, and tamper-resistance. The flexible package also may be incorporated into a bag-in-box package configuration. Methods of making and filling the package also are provided.

The tab is pulled to separate the reinforced tear zone from the remaining wrapping material and open remove the outer wrapping. Abstract: A tamper evident product distribution pouch especially well-suited for pharmaceuticals is provided, which is made from a single sheet of folded and sealed flexible plastic in a simplified folding and heat-sealing operation that reduces manufacturing steps. The tamper evident pharmaceutical pouch includes a header containing an arrangement of mounting holes and a slot for use as a handle. A pouch is formed by folding over the sheet of material and heat sealing the edges along the length of the pouch. The opening of the pouch adjacent the header.
