Lubricating Patents (Class 384/13)
  • Patent number: 7311444
Abstract: A self-compensating hydrostatic (pressurized fluid film) linear bearing that maintains a fluid gap between a carriage and a rail when relative forces are applied. The geometric shape of the rail and mating carriage enable the bearing to have very high stiffness and load capacity without exessive detrimental carriage deformation. The carriages contain bearing grooves and lands which control and use fluid pressure to provide a very high degree of restoring force in response to changes in the fluid gap. The fluid emanating from the bearing gap is prevented from immediately leaking from the bearing carriage, and is instead routed back to the source from which it is pumped, thereby sealing the bearing carriage and simplifying the handling of the lubricating fluid. The hydrostatic bearing is particularly designed to be compact and to be bolt-for-bolt compatible with conventional linear bearings.

Abstract: In a curvilinear motion guide unit in which sliders are allowed to move along a track rail extending curved with a preselected curvature, this unit makes the slider reduced in size with well balance. An end cap may be made common in specification to a variety of sliders, which are modified in specification depending on diverse variations in curvature of track rail. To this end, a casing for the slider has forward and aft end faces that are arranged, regardless of the variations in length of the casing, such that imaginary planes including the end faces and normal to a top surface of the track rail coincide with radial planes extending through the center of curvature of the track rail. The return passages are opened on the forward and aft end faces at locations that are closer to the centroidal axis of the track rail than the loaded raceways. Moreover, the return passages are linear bores that run straight through the casing.

  • Patent number: 6517244
Abstract: A linear motion guide unit is disclosed in which a lubricant-impregnated plate is mounted on any one side thereof with a backing plate and accommodated in a cartridge. The lubricant-impregnated plate is less subject to deformation or distortion, thus continuing to keep precisely the sliding relation with the raceway grooves on the track rail. Lubricating means are arranged on end caps of the slider, one on each end cap. The lubricating means is composed of a lubricant-impregnated plate of sintered resinous component, a backing plate high in stiffness attached to the lubricant-impregnated plate into a composite plate, and a cartridge accommodating therein the composite plate. The backing plate and cartridge, in combination, sustain squeezing load caused when the lubricating means is fastened to the slider. Thus, the lubricant-impregnated plate is free from the squeezing load, keeping precise sliding-contact relation with the raceway grooves on the track rail.

Abstract: A copper alloy sliding material which can bring about superior resistance to fatigue as well as good anti-seizure property without containing any Pb. The copper alloy sliding material is made to have the structure in which both of the hard copper alloy phase and the soft copper alloy phase coexist in a mixture state. On the surface of the sliding material, the soft copper alloy phase comes to have a shape more concave than that of the hard copper alloy phase when receiving a load or when being in a sliding wear relation, in which concave portions is retained lubricant with the result that the anti-seizure property is enhanced. Further, since the soft phase and the hard phase are made of the same copper alloy, the wettability thereof becomes good, and Ni and etc. contained in the hard copper alloy phase are diffused into the soft copper alloy phase, so that the hardness of the boundary portion defined between the phases come to be gradually varied.
