Lubricating Patents (Class 384/13)
  • Patent number: 6290394
Abstract: A linear motion guide unit in which rolling applicators transfer lubricant from a lubricant-containing member to raceway grooves on a track rail to make less sliding-friction resistance to a sliding element. The guide unit has a case accommodating therein the lubricant-containing member, and rolling applicators supported for rotation by a bearing member in the case. The lubricant held in the lubricant-containing member is applied onto the raceway grooves on the track rail through the rolling applicators, the peripheries of which are kept on sliding contact with the lubricant-containing member, thereby lubricating the confronting raceway grooves of the track rail and the sliding element, along which rolling elements run through in the sliding element. The frictional resistance that is encountered when the rolling element run through the track rail is the frictional resistance to rolling motion, which makes less the sliding resistance to the sliding element.

  • Patent number: 6250804
Abstract: A self-lubricating linear guide apparatus in which a lubricant storage chamber is formed within the slider so that no additional space is required. A fibrous member is employed which is inserted into the lubricant storage chamber to directly lubricate unloaded rolling elements such that loss of lubricant oil due to leakage is minimized and contamination to the working site is prevented. In addition, metallic powder or dust produced during manufacturing process can not ingress into the slider to choke up the fibrous member. An oil infusing aperture is reserved on the slider for replenishing the lubricant oil into the lubricant storage chamber in the case that lubricant oil stored therein is used up without the need of detaching the linear guide apparatus. The self-lubricating linear guide apparatus completely eliminates the disadvantage of too frequent lubricant oil replenishment as that is necessary for conventional techniques.

The rollers are mounted in an elastically deformable block (20, 30, 31) so as to apply the rollers (36a-36d) to the rail (17, 27, 42) while exerting a predetermined and substantially constant contact pressure on the guidance rail (17, 27, 42). The elastically deformable block (31) comprises at least two rigid portions (37, 38 or 39) interconnected by an elastic hinge (40 or 41) comprising at least one wall (40 or 41) of small thickness constituting a region of deformation and permitting relative pivoting between the two rigid portions (37-38, 37-39).

Abstract: In a self-lubrication linear guide apparatus including a guide rail, a slider and a plurality of rolling elements, the apparatus further includes a plurality of lubricant-containing polymer spacer balls which are interposed between the rolling elements inside the slider. A lubricant gradually exudes from the lubricant-containing polymer spacer balls as time elapses to be automatically supplied to the rolling elements, so that satisfactory self lubrication can be achieved over a long period of time.

Abstract: A miniature linear guide provides a guide rail and a slider that is fitted inside the guide rail in an axially slidable manner via a number of balls and that is an integral assembly of a slider body and a circulator that is fitted in the concave portion of the slider body and which has internal, axially extending unloaded ball circulating paths. Since a lubricant-containing polymer member is provided between the unloaded ball circulating paths in such a way that it contacts the balls, the lubricant oozes slowly out of the polymer member to be supplied automatically to the surfaces of the balls over an extended period so as to assure long life for the miniature linear guide.
