  • Patent number: 10808760
Abstract: An assembly for a rolling element bearing, the assembly including a first cage segment and a second cage segment which are releasably connectable to one another, and at least one rolling element. The assembly further comprises a cage pocket for receiving the at least one rolling element. The cage pocket is at least partly defined by a cage pocket wall of at least one of the first cage segment and the second cage segment. The assembly is such that, when the at least one rolling element is in the cage pocket, the at least one rolling element prevents the first cage segment and the second cage segment from being releasably disengaged. A rolling element bearing can incorporate such an assembly.

  • Patent number: 10634191
Abstract: A cage and roller assembly includes rollers to be brought into rolling contact with a raceway surface provided on the outer periphery of a shaft, and an annular cage that retains the rollers. Lubricating oil is supplied through an oil supply hole that is provided inside the shaft and is open at an axial center region of the raceway surface. The cage includes annular portions having guide surfaces that are brought into contact with an inner peripheral surface of an outer member that is brought into rolling contact with the rollers, and cage bars that couple the annular portions together and are arranged with intervals in a circumferential direction. Clearances formed between the cage bars and the rollers housed in the pockets are larger in axial center portions of the cage bars between axial ends of the cage bars than at the axial ends of the cage bars.

  • Patent number: 10145416
Abstract: A bearing cage for receiving rolling elements is disclosed. In addition to two rings, the bearing cage also has a plurality of webs which run axially between the rings. In order to prevent the rolling elements from falling out of the pockets formed between the rings and the webs, the webs have a groove which runs in the direction of the respective web. When the rolling elements are inserted into the pockets, a tool engages into the groove and bends the edge region of the web in a direction of the rolling elements.

The recesses are defined in outer circumferential surfaces of opposite joint ends of two semicircular split roller bearing cage half-parts along horizontally inscribed tangential lines, that meet an outer circumference of the annular split roller bearing cage and intersect perpendicular with a split center axis of the annular split roller bearing cage. Recesses have widths and depths suitable to receive locker plates. The locker plates are horizontally attached to bottoms of the recesses defined in opposite joint ends of one of the cage half-parts. Locking projections are formed at bottoms of other recesses defined in opposite joint ends of the other cage half-parts to be coupled with respective locker plates. The two cage half-parts are aligned and engaged at their joint ends, forming a full circle. The locker plates can be automatically coupled to the locking projections.

Abstract: The present invention provides a cage in which a nitride layer is formed on the surface by using an iron and steel material with a carbon content of 0.25% by weight or less, fabricating it into a predetermined shape and conducting nitriding, which is more excellent in slidability and wear resistance than conventional one. For this purpose, a nitride layer having a hardness of Hv 650 or more at a thickness of 3 &mgr;m or more and 15 &mgr;m or less is formed on the surface of a cage.

  • Patent number: 6364533
Abstract: A metal window cage for a rolling bearing and supporting cylinder rollers. The cage having at least one ladder-shaped bent segment which is bent around to define the window cage. A joint is formed at adjacent cage segment ends which are interlocked in a dovetail shape lock at the segment ends. A connecting element connects the segment ends. The crosspieces at intervals along the cage segment and the connecting element at the joint are encapsulated by being molded over. Cylinder roller retaining clips are provided at the connecting element at the segment ends at the joint and also at the crosspieces between neighboring windows for cylinder rollers. The clips project radially inwardly to prevent the rollers from leaving the cage prior to installation of the cage and rollers in a bearing. The crosspieces and clips there are also molded over to retain them at the cage.

Abstract: The invention has plural plate-like members, each molded by a metal die using a synthetic resin material in a shape having pockets for retaining rolling elements. A shape obtained by mutually connecting each of the plural plate-like members with connecting portions at both ends is a substantially cylinder shape. A shape of a section between both end portions of each plate-like member has a convex warped shape constituting a part of the cylinder by being subjected to a distortion action owing to heat contraction after being molded by the metal die.

Abstract: Two axially spaced retailer end rings have axially inwardly extending blades forming circumferentially spaced roller pockets. No rigid connection of the end rings is provided. Circumferentially spaced rollers are aligned parallel to the bearing axis between the end rings such that ends of the rollers are received within the roller pockets. Abutment means limits axially outward movement of the end rings. The blades of the end rings have retention surfaces retaining the rollers radially and extend axially inwardly, parallel to the bearing axis, such that skew of the rollers is limited.

  • Patent number: 5862592
Abstract: A cage for a roller bearing which is free of fretting and abnormal noise, which can be manufactured at low cost, and which can be easily mounted in the bearing. The cage is formed by bending a metal sheet having pockets into a ring shape, temporarily joining its ends, heat-treating the ring thus formed to remove stress, and separating the temporarily joined portion. Such a cage tends to rotate slower than the raceway members on the driving side of the bearing, making it possible to reduce fretting. Such a cage can be used under high-temperature conditions.

Abstract: A novel rolling element bearing assembly comprises an inner race, an outer race, a plurality of rolling elements, and a carbon-carbon composite retainer. The carbon-carbon composite retainer is fabricated by providing a woven tube, cutting the woven tube into suitably sized rings, piercing the rings for rolling bearing elements, and densifying the resulting retainer. Alternatively, the tube can be densified, then cut into a plurality of retainer blanks which are then pierced. For use at operating temperatures above about 650.degree. C., ceramic coatings, such as silicon carbide (SiC), silicon nitride (Si.sub.3 N.sub.4) and boron nitride (BN) can be used to provide oxidation resistance for the carbon-carbon composite retainer at such elevated temperatures.
