Plural Rows Balls Or Tandem Thrust Patents (Class 384/613)
  • Patent number: 10391645
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for a multi-track bearing folding knife or folding tool. In various embodiments, a folding knife has a handle having a first side with a first side inner surface and a second side with a second side inner surface and a blade rotatably coupled to the handle, where the blade is configured to rotate from a closed position and an open position. A multi-track bearing may be disposed between the handle and the blade. The multi-track bearing may include a first plurality of balls positioned along a first circular path and a second plurality of balls positioned along a second circular path. The balls of the multi-track bearing may protrude from both a first side of the bearing and a second side of the bearing to contact two surfaces. A first guide and a second guide may be formed by a periodic rotation of the blade.

Abstract: An effective contact length in race surfaces formed on grooved races cut in an outer ring and an inner ring is made as greater as permitted to improve the load-carrying capacity, and correspondingly guide parts born against axially opposite ends of a roller are made as less as possible in width to reduce frictional contact resistance applied to the axially opposite ends of the roller, thereby preventing a skew of the roller. An inside circular surface on the outer ring is staggered or different in level on opposite sides of a outside grooved race to make greater the race surface than an effective contact length of circular rolling surfaces of the rollers and correspondingly less the guide part in width than the race surface.

  • Patent number: 8888144
Abstract: Systems and methods for connecting misaligned pipe sections, where two sets of variably spaced bearings enable the transfer of evenly distributed pressure from a collar member to a coupling member. One embodiment comprises a misalignment coupling that includes first and second coupling members, a collar, and two sets of bearings. The collar is positioned around the second coupling member and has a flange for coupling to a flange of the first coupling member. The bearings are positioned in an annular space between the second coupling member and the collar. The two sets of bearings have variable spacing and are interleaved, with one set contacting the collar and one set contacting the second coupling member. When the flanges are secured to each other, contact pressure is transferred from the collar through the bearings to the second coupling member, thereby applying contact pressure between the first and second coupling members.

The flywheel may be formed from a stack of flywheel discs and is preferably relatively large-radiused and massive. The ball thrust bearing includes a stator having a set of three free-floating bearing balls contained within a cylindrical stator recess; a rotor rotatably mounted over the stator which likewise contains a set of three free-floating bearing balls within a cylindrical stator recess, and a single, middle bearing ball centrally disposed between and in mutual engagement with the three bearing balls of the stator and the three bearing balls of the rotor. In operation, the relatively massive flywheel is rotated at a peripheral speed that approaches but does not exceed the speed of sound to avoid fluid drag and the danger of explosive shattering.

  • Patent number: 6280537
Abstract: A rolling bearing composed of a combination of bearing wings formed with a steel material and rolling elements formed with a ceramic material, wherein the residual austenite amount of the steel material forming the rolling rings is controlled to a specific value. By the construction, at rolling of the rolling elements formed with a relatively hard ceramic material, the occurrence of the surface scratches of the rolling elements can be restrained, which results in restraining the vibrations and noises caused from the rolling bearing.

  • Patent number: 5690434
Abstract: A downhole tool bearing assembly is provided which utilizes a secondary annular threaded locknut and a compression ring in order to take up tolerance stack-up and to provide supplemental preload through a bearing housing assembly, thus helping to ensure against accidental disassembly during operation. The bearing housing assembly is comprised of a prepackaged subassembly of thrust bearings, sleeves and, optionally, "BELLEVILLE"-type disk springs which can be quickly and easily installed onto a downhole tool drive shaft or other similar apparatus by maintenance personnel having a minimum of training. The bearing housing assembly is designed such that reconfiguration involves little more than removal and reinstallation in the opposite orientation, thereby overcoming the need to reconfigure the bearing assembly one bearing at a time.

The thrust chamber includes a housing, a rotatable shaft mounted within the housing, a first downthrust bearing section connected to the shaft and to the housing, and a second downthrust bearing section also connected to the shaft and the housing. The two downthrust bearing sections are interconnected so that as a downthrust load is placed on the shaft, the first downthrust bearing section receives the load and engages the second downthrust bearing section so as to share the load substantially equally between the first downthrust bearing section and the second downthrust bearing section. Each downthrust bearing section is substantially alike and additional downthrust bearing sections may be added as desired. The thrust chamber further includes an upthrust bearing section, connected to the shaft and the housing.

  • Patent number: 5639168
Abstract: A ball bearing for supporting a spindle rotating at high speed is provided with at least one member of an inner race and a shaft having an inner raceway in an outer peripheral surface thereof, an outer race having an outer raceway in an inner peripheral surface thereof, and a plurality of balls having 3 mm or less in diameter which are rollingly provided between the inner raceway and the outer raceway, the balls being arranged along a pitch circle 11 mm or less in diameter. A bearing steel or stainless steel which is used to form the member having the raceway is reduced to 6% by volume or less in the amount of retained austenite, so that the raceways are improved in impression resistance. This eliminates the difficulty that the impression of the raceway lowers the acoustic characteristic.
