Abstract: A video camera can be configured to highly compress video data in a visually lossless manner. The camera can be configured to transform blue and red image data in a manner that enhances the compressibility of the data. The data can then be compressed and stored in this form. This allows a user to reconstruct the red and blue data to obtain the original raw data for a modified version of the original raw data that is visually lossless when demosaiced. Additionally, the data can be processed in a manner in which the green image elements are demosaiced first and then the red and blue elements are reconstructed based on values of the demosaiced green image elements.

Abstract: In order to realize real-time monitoring of video data, a video display device in a conventional video monitoring system is required in advance to have capacity for decoding encoded video data equivalent to that in all of the imaging devices connected to the video display device, preferably to that in the maximum number of connectable imaging devices or to the maximum volume of data which is displayable. According to the present invention, when encoded video data recorded on a video recording device is read out and is displayed on a video display device, the video display device receives video data acquired by decoding, with an imaging device, the encoded video data read out from the video recording device. Therefore, since the video display device is not required to have capacity for decoding, the configuration thereof can be simplified independent of the number of connected imaging devices, and cost reduction thereof can be achieved.

The endpoint (e.g., acting as an MCU) may transmit information to endpoints and may transmit recording information to the recording server. The recording information may be different from the videoconference information. For example, it may be in a “streaming friendly” format, at a different bit rate, encoded differently, have different inputs, etc. The manner in which the videoconference is stored and/or recorded may be based on the selected configuration. Clients may be configured to receive and display the videoconference from the recording server and may be configured to change the provided layout to different layouts, e.g., based on user input.

Abstract: The multimedia systems and methods disclosed herein permit rapid switching from one video stream to another in order to present similar images at different camera angles. The systems and methods further describe a virtual joystick and a moviola system. The virtual joystick allows a viewer to select for viewing in a main portion of a display, a sequence of images at a different camera angle than what was previously rendered on the main portion. The different camera angle is intuitively obvious based on a spatial relationship between two or more thumbnail display windows displayed in the virtual joystick. The moviola system allows rapid backwards navigation of a video stream that has already been received in a video receiver, and also allows slow motion backwards/forwards viewing starting from a paused image.

  • Patent number: 8787725
Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for managing video data. Embodiments are described by reference to a Digital Video Management (DVM) system, for example methods for controlling a DVM system. In overview, the present technology relates to the ability of an operator to modify a system alert level in the context of a DVM system, thereby to reduce the need for manual interaction in times of high alert. This may be achieved by implementing a system alert level controller via a graphical user interface. Increasing the system alert level, at least in some embodiments, correspondingly increases system resource consumption, for example by automating various actions (such as record) or increasing the amount/quality of recordings made. In effect, the system is temporarily operated on a high-cost basis thereby to assist manage risk during times of high alert by reducing reliance on the operator.

Abstract: A method and device for transmitting data are discussed. In an embodiment of the present invention, a display state of image data for which transmission is requested is checked, and all or part of image data is transmitted depending on the checked state. The image data is downsampled and compressed into N layers having small-size screens, and all or some of the N compressed layers can be transmitted. In an embodiment, when the display state is in a separation display mode, some of the N layers created from image data for each channel for which transmission is requested are transmitted. When the display state is in a 1 channel display mode, all N layers created from image data for a channel for which transmission is requested are transmitted.

Abstract: The present invention enables an effective use of a ring buffer. A video recording apparatus includes a first thinning process unit which reduces a data size of camera videos transmitted from a camera to a frame rate number of the camera videos, and which stores the camera videos having undergone a thinning process in a ring buffer, and a second thinning process unit which further reduces the data size of the videos stored in the ring buffer at a frame rate number in accordance with a condition among a plurality of conditions. The first thinning process unit stores the camera videos in the ring buffer at a frame rate that is the lowest common multiple of the frame rate numbers of the plurality of conditions.

Abstract: The invention discloses a correction method and system for object linking in video sequences that are captured by a multiple camera surveillance video system. The invention allows a user to select a specific object to track and for trace correction through an interactive user platform. The interactive user platform shows a video sequence captured by the user-selected camera at the selected time; lists of previous and post video sequences related to the user-selected object or video sequences, and lists of object linking results before and after the selected time. The user refers to the linking results, shown in lists of object linking results before and after the selected time to select one of objects for correction in selected frame of selected video sequence. The selection directs the proposed system to correct the trace of the specific object to track. Henceforth, the correct linking results can be automatically generated.
