Abstract: On a recording medium, stereoscopic and monoscopic specific areas are located one after another next to a stereoscopic/monoscopic shared area. The stereoscopic/monoscopic shared area is a contiguous area to be accessed both in stereoscopic video playback and monoscopic video playback. The stereoscopic specific area is a contiguous area to be accessed immediately before a long jump occurring in stereoscopic video playback. In both the stereoscopic/monoscopic shared area and the stereoscopic specific area, extents of base-view and dependent-view stream files are arranged in an interleaved manner. The extents on the stereoscopic specific area are next in order after the extents on the stereoscopic/monoscopic shared area. The monoscopic specific area is a contiguous area to be accessed immediately before a long jump occurring in monoscopic video playback. The monoscopic specific area has a copy of the entirety of the extents of the base-view stream file recorded on the stereoscopic specific area.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an information recording device and method, a program storage medium, and a program, wherein updated file system information can be recorded without changing a logical address. As shown to the upper side in FIG. 18, in the event that data has been recorded, upon a file (Files (Stream+DB)) recorded in region B112 being updated, an updated file is recorded at region B112? as shown at the middle in FIG. 18. Abstract: The present invention pertains to an apparatus and method for adding a graphic element, such as a subtitle to selected locations of the frames in a 3D movie. The authoring tool receives a depth map indicating the position of various objects in the frames of 3D content along a Z-axis. The authoring device then designates a position for at least one additional graphic element in at least some of the frames, these positions being determined in relation either to the positions of the objects or the position of the screen along said Z-axis. An encoder uses parameters from the authoring tool to reauthor the 3D movie by adding the graphic content to the positions designated by the parameters.

Abstract: An audio and video (AV) apparatus includes a player module for playing audio and video files, generating audio and video signals, and an internal display and an internal speaker. Abstract: The present invention relates to method and apparatus of providing supplementary service information for A/V contents written in a recording medium. Abstract: A recording medium, method and apparatus for managing data are discussed. According to an embodiment, the present invention provides a method of reproducing main data and additional data. The method includes receiving the additional data associated with the main data, the additional data being divided into a plurality of segment units; and reproducing the additional data in a synchronous manner with the main data using time information if indication information indicates a presence of the time information. The time information indicates a presentation time of the additional data with respect to the main data. The main data and the additional data are reproduced according to management data, the management data including link information for linking the main data and the additional data.

A representative method includes: extracting audio data from a video source, the video source containing sports content, removing from the audio data sounds not producible by human, classifying scenes of the video source as important scenes of the video clip by analyzing the energy, pitch and tonality of at least one frame of the audio data and determining whether the at least one frame is an exciting scene.
Abstract: A recording apparatus for recording audio-visual (A/V) contents directly from an A/V input source to a portable media player (PMP) is disclosed. The recorded A/V contents can be played back by the portable media player immediately upon stopping the recording. The recording apparatus does not involve the use of any intermediate computing or storage device other than the portable media player and the recording apparatus itself. The A/V contents for recording may come in the form of analog/digital signals or as digital data in compressed or uncompressed form from transmission and/or storage devices. Depending upon the nature of the input, the recording apparatus digitizes, encodes and/or transcodes the A/V contents and stores the processed A/V contents directly into the portable media player in playback ready format. The recording apparatus includes a one-button control interface for starting and stopping the recording of A/V contents to the portable media player.

Abstract: A television program recording/reproducing device displays a reproduction program selection screen containing a title list image, a cursor image, frame images for initial letter selection and frame images for second letter selection. The title list image displays multiple title images sequentially in alphabetical order. One frame image for initial letter selection is displayed for multiple same titles, if any, while one frame image for second letter selection is displayed for multiple titles having the same initial letter, if any, in the title list image. The cursor image is moved on and between the title images and the both frame images. Abstract: The present invention allows a reproducing device that can be used in various device environmental conditions to execute adequate output operation according to a device environmental condition. When reproducing a content signal of audio and video, a reproducing device determines a device environmental condition as the coupling state of the reproducing device and surroundings of the reproducing device. Subsequently, the reproducing device implements control according to output part information and control information that are set with being associated with the device environmental condition. Based on the output part information, either or both of a main-body output unit and an external output unit are controlled as a part for outputting audio or video. Abstract: An object of a reproducing apparatus according to the present invention is to solve a problem in that, when video data and music data of BGM are played simultaneously as they are, one of them is finished while the other is still playing, and accordingly, this does not provide an effect of sufficiently satisfying the user even though the BGM is inserted. Abstract: Video analytics data is audited through review of selective visual essence subsets of visual images from a visual image stream as a function of a temporal relationship of the essence subset images to a triggering alert event. The visual essence subset comprehends an image contemporaneous with the triggering alert event and one or more other images occurring before or after the contemporaneous image. The generated visual essence is presented for review to determine whether the triggering alert event is a true or false alert, or whether additional data from the visual image stream is required to make such a determination. If determined from the presented visual essence that the additional data is required make the true or false determination, then additional data is presented from the visual image stream for review.

Abstract: System and methods are disclosed for displaying advertisements through a digital video recorder (DVR). In one embodiment, the DVR includes an advertisement storage system that stores advertisements from at least one third party advertiser. The DVR further includes an advertisement control system that detects activation of a fast forward feature during playing of a television program. In response to detecting the activation of the fast forward feature, the advertisement control system selects an advertisement from the advertisement storage system, and initiates the display of the selected advertisement in association with a progress bar that is displayed during activation of the fast forward feature.
Abstract: Time stamps are attached to packets output from stream data input section by a time stamp-attaching section in a HDD, and the packets are then recorded into a HDD main unit. A stream data-generating section removes the time stamps from the packets subsequent to a predetermined amount of packets last recorded into the HDD main unit and controls the timing of the packets according to the time stamps, and the packets are transferred to an HDD. Abstract: A contents recording system and a contents recording method reducing a time taken for recording and editing of video content and other video contents. An optical disk device for recording video content and a computer are connected via a network. The computer is supplied with low resolution proxy AV data from the optical disk device, streaming reproduces it as live video and, at the same time, introduces essence marks as meta-data to any positions of the proxy AV data, and describes them in a meta-data file. Then, after finishing shooting one clip, the computer merges a meta-data file generated on the optical disk device side in accordance with camera adjustment and a meta-data file generated on the computer side in accordance with the user operation.
Abstract: Automatic story production is implemented by the utilization of theme scripts with user assets to generate a quality finished product with minimum user input or direction. A user chooses a predesigned theme script to be applied to the user's assets to automatically create a story with a particular look and feel. Metadata and feature information, when available, is automatically gathered from the user assets to personalize the generated story. A user can include additional information and/or alter any aspect of the generated story to further personalize the resultant finished product.

Abstract: Presentations during an online conference are captured for subsequent playback. An instance of a presentation viewer is deployed to capture the presentation. Annotations and timing data are captured separately. The presentation with the annotations is recorded through a video encoding codec in a desired format, while timing and similar data is stored as metadata. Multiple presentations may be recorded separately to conserve resources. The recordation and the metadata can be subsequently played back to a requesting user.

The image processing device includes: an acquisition module configured to acquire one or more images stored in one or more servers through a network; a generator configured to generate video data based on the images; a first transmitter configured to transmit an instruction through the network to a display device to play back the video data; and a second transmitter configured to transmit the video data to the display device through the network in response to a request from the display device.
Abstract: A recording apparatus receives, with respect to an identical program, high image quality digital broadcasting data and low image quality digital broadcasting data, records the high image quality program data and the low image quality program data in a recording medium. When a cellular phone device is connected to the recording apparatus, the recording apparatus transfers the recorded low image quality program data to the cellular phone device via a communication interface. The recording apparatus transmits, to the portable cellular phone device, management information of the end of playback and deletion of the first program data whose program is identical to that of the transferred second program data.
Abstract: An integrated apparatus is disclosed that can directly connect to a portable digital video camera and can record uncompressed video and audio data, along with associated metadata, in the field and elsewhere. Most preferably, the integrated apparatus includes a removable, recordable, reusable digital magazine that may be mounted. Most preferably, the integrated apparatus also supports a variety of input and output formats, and the apparatus may be easily connected to other computing systems, either directly or through network connections, wired or wireless. The digital magazine can be mounted in a variety of docking stations and can be directly connected to a network, allowing the video and audio data to be easily stored and transferred.
