Each component of the housing assembly may designed to be reused, and each component of the insert assembly may be designed to be reused, recycled, or composted, depending on the materials employed for construction. Reusable components of the container may be constructed of non-reactive, durable materials that are not susceptible, or at least resistant, to rust and/or corrosion. Example materials for the reusable components include stainless steel, aluminum, carbon fiber, various types of polymers, and silicone. The container may be designed to allow simple and complete assembly and disassembly. The reusable parts may be cleaned, replaced, or repaired, as needed, and recyclable or compostable parts may be separated and cleaned in preparation for recycling or composting.

The stick product refill is shaped and dimensioned to be inserted into the open end of the dispenser and to attach to the receptacle that holds the stick product after the used product has been removed. Attachment of the refill to the stick receptacle is by an attachment component on the outer surface of an anchor cap enclosing the distal end of the refill and/or on the receptacle itself. Once secured to the receptacle, the refill can be advanced and retracted by the propel-repel mechanism so that it protrudes when in use and is withdrawn with the dispenser to protect it when not in use.

Abstract: A deodorant dispensing system is provided. The system includes a reusable deodorant case having a body and a dial rotatably coupled to the body. The body is structured to receive a replaceable deodorant cartridge containing an unused deodorant puck. Operation of the dial along a predetermined rotational direction causes the deodorant puck to dispense for application by a user, whereas operation of the dial along a rotational direction opposite to the predetermined rotational direction causes the deodorant puck to retract within the deodorant cartridge. Operation of the dial in a direction to retract the deodorant puck after the deodorant puck it is fully retracted causes the dial to rotate freely with respect to the body without causing damage to internal components of the deodorant dispensing system.
