Patent number: 5364197Abstract: A cosmetic pencil for dispensing a soft cosmetic mass. The pencil has a hollow barrel in which a threaded push rod is held. A hollow sheath is filled with a cosmetic mass and threads are provided between the sheath and the push rod so that when the push rod is turned with respect to the sheath the sheath descends into the barrel and the cosmetic mass is exposed by the descending sheath. The relative turning may be either provided by turning the sheath while holding the barrel or turning an actuator at the base of the barrel while holding the barrel. Elongated notches are formed on the inner surface of the barrel and one or more pawls move in and out of the notches and permit the pencil and sheath to be turned in only one direction.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1993Date of Patent: November 15, 1994Inventor: Ronald J. Patent number: 4505606Abstract: A screw feed mechanical pencil having a propelling nut which self-taps on an unthreaded interior barrel wall. The pencil's barrel and split tube are plastic extrusions and a square lead is used to prevent lead rotation during writing.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 1982Date of Patent: March 19, 1985Assignee: Scripto, Inc.Inventor: John C. Lockwood

Patent number: 4136980Abstract: This invention relates to an improved mechanical pencil. More particularly, the invention concerns a mechanical pencil in which the back and forth movements of a writing implement are controlled by a carrier having a spiral guide travelling along the spiral grooves formed on the inside of the pencil barrel, the carrier being adapted to travel along the spiral grooves formed on the inside of the pencil barrel in response to the manual rotations of the cap holding one end of the supporting member.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 1977Date of Patent: January 30, 1979Inventor: Tae Yoon Leem

Patent number: 3964832Abstract: A gel composition suitable for use as a carrier for adhesives, dyes, pigments or the like is formed from a Group II metal salt or Group III metal salt of an aliphatic carboxylic acid having from 8 to 36 carbon atoms and a chelating agent for the metal, dispersed or dissolved in a liquid dispersant that can be water, a water-miscible organic solvent or a mixture of water and at least one water-miscible organic solvent. The gel contains from about 80 to 96 percent by weight of the liquid and the mole ratio of the salt to chelating agent employed is between about 0.5 to 1 and 2 to 1. When employed as an adhesive carrier, the gel contains from 5 to 45 weight percent, based upon the total weight of the adhesive composition, of a water soluble or water dispersible film-forming adhesive such as polyvinylpyrrolidone.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1974Date of Patent: June 22, 1976Assignee: The Carter's Ink CompanyInventors: Norman B.
