  • Patent number: 5897263
Abstract: The cosmetic container is comprised of three primary parts. These are a barrel, an elevator, and a cap. The elevator has a cosmetic support surface, anchoring recesses and a well. The barrel is open at the top and usually closed at the bottom, with an adjustment recess in a surface. The well of the elevator slideably fits into the adjustment recess, and preferably conforms to the peripheral shape of the barrel. The well functions as a device to raise the elevator upwardly to dispense product and as a reservoir for the product when it is in a liquid form during the filling of the barrel above the elevator. The well holds the amount of product that is needed for the space between about the top of the barrel and a disposable cover that is used to shape the top of the cosmetic. After the barrel is filled and the disposable cover and cap put in place, the container is inverted with the liquid product flowing from the elevator well to the space between about the top of the barrel and the disposable cover.

  • Patent number: 5833382
Abstract: A dispensing container for dispensing a desired quantity of a highly viscous material. The dispenser includes a generally tubular housing having an upper edge, an inner surface, a top secured to the upper end of the housing with at least one restricted dispensing opening, and a platform with a peripheral edge mounted for reciprocal axial movement within the housing. The peripheral edge of the platform is slidingly guided by the inner surface of the housing and supports the platform at a desired position within the housing. Further, the platform is slidably advanced towards the dispensing opening in the top by exertion of force by a user, where the force compresses the material against the top. Upon release of the force, the platform slidably moves in a reverse direction to relieve the stress in the material.

A leading end of the case has an inclined slope toward the lead supply opening therein, and a chuck containing leads having a knocking portion that is pressed into the case so that it can be opened by the knocking portion being pushed to press an opening actuator toward the inclined slope or is closed by an elastic force as the opening actuator is released.

  • Patent number: 4352580
Abstract: A knock-out type mechanical pencil has a supporting rod mounted with an eraser at its rear end and axially slidably engaged within the interior of a cylindrical knock-button. A tubularly cylindrical weight is axially slidably engaged around the supporting rod. A cylindrical magnet is axially magnetized and secured to the inner peripheral surface of the knock-button. An annularly inwardly raised guide portion is formed on the inner peripheral surface of the knock-button for guiding the weight to the axial line of the knock-button when the weight is axially slidably dropped downwardly toward the writing tip of the pencil. To protrude and fix an eraser from the rear end of the tubular cylindrical body, the rear end of the pencil is tilted downward. To automatically contain or retract the eraser in the knock-button, the writing tip of the pencil is directed downwardly in writing state.

  • Patent number: 4320982
Abstract: This invention relates to a writing implement comprising an outer casing, a coil spring disposed within the casing, an inner tube inserted through the coil spring and having a plurality of presharpened pieces of pencil lead stored therewithin, and a capping member fitted over the open end of the inner tube. The lower (writing) portion of the inner tube is split into two clamping halves. The lower end of the coil spring is formed into a hook which slides along the slot formed between the clamping halves to allow the expelling and feeding of presharpened pieces of pencil lead into the space between said two clamping halves.

  • Patent number: 4270870
Abstract: Mechanical pencil construction wherein the operational movements to advance the lead are accomplished by providing one or more elastically deformable ribs or spring biased cam members that extend outwardly through axial slots in the pencil body in the normal finger gripping area. The radially inward depression of such ribs or cam members by the writer's fingers is converted to axial motion within the pencil, to thereby effect the necessary lead gripping and advancing operations.

  • Patent number: 4235557
Abstract: A device is disclosed for the packaging and dispensing of a hot-fill solid product such as solid antiperspirant. The device provides for product holding structure which will have selectively attached thereto a cover which will, along with the produce holding structure, provide a cavity into which the hot-fill product may be introduced. Also attached to the product holding structure is a handle. In use, the cover is removed from the product holding structure to expose the product so that it may be applied. The cover may have a structure on its outside surface for supporting the device in an upright position with the cover being at the bottom and the handle at the top. Alternatively, the handle may have supporting structure which will allow setting of the device down on the handle so that the handle is on the bottom and the cover is on the top.

Abstract: A package is disclosed for a stick antiperspirant and/or deodorant product with the package comprising an imperforate elevator platform for carrying the product and slidably disposed within the bore of a tubular sleeve, a handwheel rotatably carried at one end of the sleeve or body and having an elevating screw fixed thereon for rotation with the handwheel and cooperating with a threaded stem depending from the elevating platform. The upper portion of the sleeve bore has lengthwise extending chordal flats provided thereon, the intermediate portion of the bore is a smooth, generally cylindrical sealing surface and its lower portion is unobstructed. The platform has a depending peripheral skirt the upper part of which has lugs to coact with the chordal flats to prevent relative rotation of the platform and sleeve and the lower port of which is adapted to form a seal with the intermediate portion of the sleeve bore when the platform is in its lowermost position.
