Abstract: A liquid applicator is provided which is capable of using a cartridge-type tank. The liquid applicator has a lock mechanism which is capable of preventing an inadvertent pressing of the knocking rod with a simple construction. A cartridge-type tank containing a liquid therein is accommodated within the cylindrical applicator body while a soaker for applying the liquid sealed in the tank is attached to the forward tip end of the applicator body. The cylindrical tail plug is detachably fitted into the rearward end of the applicator body with the tail plug being formed with an engaging lug radially outwardly therein. The knocking rod is coaxially provided inside the cylindrical tail plug with the lug inwardly projecting from an inside surface of the tail plug being engaged with the L-shaped groove formed in the periphery of the knocking rod.

Abstract: A dispenser for a cosmetic stick comprising (a) a removable cap in the form of a sleeve having an open upper end, for containing the cosmetic stick, (b) a base in the form of a sleeve having an open upper end, (c) fitted inside the base sleeve, an internal sleeve open at both ends for containing the cosmetic stick, (d) a product advancing mechanism comprising a platform which forms the bottom closure of the internal tubular sleeve, the platform having an upper surface having two protrusions affixed thereto, and a lower surface, and (e) a porous material affixed to the upper surface of the platform and securing the cosmetic stick to the platform.

Abstract: A dispenser for a cosmetic stick comprising (a) a removable cap in the form of a sleeve having an open upper end, for containing the cosmetic stick, (b) a base in the form of a sleeve having an open upper end, (c) fitted inside the base sleeve, an internal sleeve open at both ends for containing the cosmetic stick, (d) a product advancing mechanism comprising a platform which forms the bottom closure of the internal tubular sleeve, the platform having an upper surface and a lower surface, and (e) a porous material affixed to the upper surface of the platform and securing the cosmetic stick to the platform.

Abstract: A cosmetic preparation dispenser permits filling of a dispenser cartridge and retraction thereof, but is subsequently inoperable until assembly with a master case. The cartridge includes a cam sleeve, innerbody and elevator cup. The locking of the cartridge is obtained by lower leftwardly extending track segments at the lower end of innerbody longitudinal track segments, which trap and retain the elevator cup when it is retracted after the cartridge is filled with a cosmetic stick. When the cartridge is assembled with the master base, a stem in the master base pushes against the elevator cup to urge it out of it locked position to permit the elevator cup to be freely movable along the axial path.

Abstract: The lipstick tube includes a replaceable lipstick seat and a housing. The lipstick seat has an inner tube which has a lower outer rim provided with at least a toothed ring while a base of the housing is provided with a clamping seat. The clamping seat has curved urging plates for clamping the inner tube inserted thereinto to a suitable extent. The lipstick seat may be secured within the base of the housing and may be lifted out of or lowered into the lipstick tube.

Abstract: A lipstick comprising a cartridge and a base wherein the base is formed with upward latches which snap barb fashion over an annular shoulder in the lower end of the inner of the cartridge. The pomade cup has a downward projection to hold the latches outward. Specifically, the cup has a downward "stovepipe" which, when the cup is retracted, fits inside the latches to prevent them from springing inward on impact and releasing the cartridge.

Abstract: A cosmetic pencil for dispensing a soft cosmetic mass. A lower barrel holds an elongated push rod which has external threads which move outwardly of the lower barrel when it is turned with respect to a hollow sheath. The cosmetic mass is held in the hollow sheath and two flexible arms at the base of the hollow sheath contact the external threads on the push rod. In this way the push rod may be inserted radially between the flexible arms and need not be threaded in from the bottom of the flexible arms.

Abstract: A case for pasty cosmetic, pharmaceutical or like products comprising an outer casing co-operating with a coaxial inner casing in which is axially slidably mounted a cup carrying a lipstick so that the relative rotation of both casings results in an axial displacement of said cup, the inner casing being made fast to a base through the medium of a tube provided in the bottom wall of the base comprising cogging elements joined by ring portions which comprise on their outer faces ribs for co-operation with flutes formed on the inner surface of a skirt provided at the lower part of the inner casing, this device being applicable to the fastening of an inner casing upon a base within a lipstick case.

Abstract: A cosmetic applier comprises a container assembly including a tubular sleeve, a cup holder reciprocable inside the sleeve and a cam for raising and retracting the cup holder. A pomade cup assembly includes a cup carrying pomade and an inverted cup-shaped transparent shroud about the pomade and connected to the top of the cup, the shroud having a diameter at least as great as the inner diamater of the sleeve. Interfitting fastener parts are on the cup and holder. In the preferred version, the fastener is of the permanently locking type. The selected pomade cup may be snapped into the holder and the holder and cup retracted by turning the cam so that the shroud, engaging the sleeve and spread by it, pops off the cup and is freed for easy disposal.

Abstract: An elevator/threaded shaft dispensing package for a solid stick-form product. The package has a refill cartridge designed to telescope into a reusable base. The base is tubular and has a threaded shaft axially oriented within it through a central aperture at its bottom where the shaft is connected to a hand wheel. The cartridge holds the product in a tubular body which preferably has a non-circular cross-section. A push plate is disposed in the bottom of the cartridge and the top of the cartridge preferably has a downwardly extending annular collar on its exterior. The package has a telescoping elevator system disposed within it which includes a platform which abuts against the push plate and an internally threaded neck below the platform. The internally threaded neck receives the threaded shaft in threaded telescoping relation.

Abstract: A cosmetic stick holder, such as a lip stick holder, features a cosmetic ck mechanism having a piston supporting the cosmetic stick. The cosmetic stick is extended or retracted into the cosmetic stick mechanism upon rotation of a screwing sleeve forming part of the cosmetic stick mechanism. The screwing sleeve is exchangeably held with its foot part in an outer cap member by a releasable lock having two locking parts provided on the outer cap member and the foot part so as to prevent axial movement of the foot part and cap member and to provide for release of the two upon rotation of the foot part with respect to the cap member when the piston is fully retracted.

Abstract: In a cosmetic stick holder, especially a lip stick holder, the slot sleeve 2) of the cosmetic stick mechanism containing the cosmetic stick is locked with its foot part (3) in an outer cap member (8) by an easily releasable lock (9, 10), whereas an elastic tongue (20) having a locking projection (21) extending radial outwardly projects from the bottom side of the piston (1) carrying the cosmetic stick, wherein the locking projection (21), in the starting position of the piston (1), is radially aligned with a locking opening (22) provided in the circumferential wall (24) of the foot part (3) and shaped for the engagement of the locking projection (21) and, in the starting position of the piston (1), is held by a radial projection (9) provided at the inner wall of the outer cap member (8) against the spring force of the elastic tongue (20) without engagement with the locking opening (22).

Abstract: A system for applying a uniform band of liquid primer material to the marginal edge surfaces of glazing units upon which a plastic frame or gasket member is to be molded in place. A family of interchangeable applicator tips is provided for use with a dispensing device adapted to provide an on-demand supply of primer material to the tip in use. The different applicator tips of the family have configurations particularly adapted to applying bands of primer material along selected peripheral margins of a sheet member. Each is of a composite construction including a relatively rigid base member covered by a soft absorbent body for contacting and transferring to the sheet surface the layer of primer material. The tips are readily attachable to and removable from the primer material dispensing device.

Abstract: A writing instrument wherein a rear cap is rotatably connected through a connector to a rear end of an outer tube into which a core pipe is axially slidably inserted, a guide member for an eraser is axially slidably inserted into the rear cap for axial engagement, a spiral member is spirally connected to an eraser receiving member which supports an eraser axially slidably inserted into a spiral member for axial engagement, the spiral member having a front end axially slidably connected to the connector for axial engagement, and the eraser guide member is urged in a withdrawing direction by means of an elastic body so that the guide member is held at a fixed projected position during non-knocking.

Abstract: This invention relates to a mechanical pencil capable of utilizing effectively a writing lead and having an improved lead protection pipe. A protuberance having a surface having a hardness equal to, or higher than, that of a lead is formed on the inner surface of the lead protection pipe by dispersing and depositing powder; very small coil-like fibers having a surface having hardness equal to, or higher than, that of the lead are dispersed and deposited on the inner surface of the lead protection pipe through a base material; an inorganic film having a protuberance having hardness equal to, or higher than, that of the lead is formed on the inner surface of the lead protection pipe; or a ring-like lead retaining member is disposed inside the lead protection pipe. The lead retaining member has a treated portion having a surface having hardness equal to, or higher than, that of the lead, and a partial play relative to the inner surface of the lead protection pipe.

Abstract: A mechanical pencil made of a molded plastics material has a flat rectangular cross-section and a slot at one end thereof for passing a flat lead piece. The housing has a front wall provided with a recess and a slot extending longitudinally of the housing in the recess. A pair of toothed racks are provided longitudinally of the housing in the chamber formed therein. A gripper including a thumb-operated slider is provided on the front wall which is bowed and urged against the front wall and is connected to a toothed anchor in the chamber which in turn is adapted to engage the rack members. A pair of bifurcated fingers are connected to the anchor member and the bifurcated fingers engage the lead piece. Cam guide means provide the gripping action of the bifurcated fingers and the releasing action thereof. The gripper is advanced and retracted by depressing the bowed slider to disengage the toothed anchor from the rack member.

Abstract: An applicator device for a spreadable material in the form of a stick including a shaft-like gripping portion, and a screw portion connected to the gripping portion in axial alignment therewith and rotatable relative to the gripping portion. The screw portion encloses the stick of material, while secured to the screw portion within same is a screwthreaded sleeve mounted in screwthreaded engagement on a screwthreaded spindle which is mounted axially movably and non-rotatably in the gripping portion, so that the rotation of the screw portion and therewith the screwthreaded sleeve relative to the gripping portion causes axial movement of the spindle within the gripping portion. A pushing assembly engaging the stick is provided at the front end of the spindle and comprises a piston connected to the front end of the spindle and adapted to bear against the end face of the stick and a piston sleeve which surrounds the piston and embraces the end of the stick.

Abstract: A lipstick container is disclosed having an inner body member with an upper tubular portion. An outer body member surrounds the tubular portion and is mounted thereon for relative rotation thereabout. A base member surrounding the outer body member is in fixed engagement with the inner body member. A slidable cup received in the tubular portion carries the lipstick mass. Relative rotation between the inner body member and the outer body member moves the slidable cup between a protracted position and a retracted position. A central ring partially surrounding the outer body member and secured to the base member includes a plurality of projecting biased elements for engaging the outer surface of the outer body member to provide a radial force thereon whereby an approximately constant torque is required to enable relative rotation therebetween.

Abstract: A cartridge for storing pencil leads and dispensing such leads into the lead storage chamber of a pencil has an assembly slidably mounted therein which has a dispensing spout on one end thereof. Pencil leads are contained within the cartridge and prevented from being released therefrom by a gate member formed on the slidable assembly. When the slidable assembly is actuated to effect slidable motion thereof relative to the main body of the cartridge, the gate member is driven out of the path between the leads and the dispensing spout, permitting the leads to be dispensed into the chamber of the pencil.

Abstract: This invention relates to a cartridge type cosmetic bar container removably accommodating a cartridge of lipstick or the like in a rotary operating cylinder. This container is designed for an extended useful life, greater ease of use and simplified construction.In the cartridge type cosmetic bar container of this invention, the outer bottom of the inner cylinder of the cartridge is provided with a recess engageable with a cylindrical elevation provided at the inner bottom of the rotary operating cylinder, whereby the inner cylinder and rotary operating cylinder are joined as a unit. As the user turns the rotary operating cylinder, the inner cylinder is rotated and consequently the payout cylinder accommodated in the inner cylinder ascends or descends.

Abstract: The present invention provides an automatic pencil which includes a coil spring sleeved around an inner tube, and a ring-shaped head portion carrying a lead pushing leg, the ring-shaped head portion being seated on an annular shoulder formed in the lower cone-shaped end of an outer casing, and the lead pushing leg begins to extend downward from the ring-shaped head portion at a location beyond the inner edge of the annular shoulder, thereby eliminating the need to provide a groove for receiving the upper side of the lead pushing leg.

Abstract: An applicator for lipstick comprises means for fastening (a) the base member of the inner tubular casing of the assembly forming the displacement actuating assembly, to (b) the base of an outer case to be held by the operator, so that the base member and base execute conjoint rotation. The fastening means comprise a jacket arranged between the inner tubular casing and the base.

Abstract: A mechanical pencil is disclosed in which lead feed occurs automatically upon lifting of the pencil from the paper surface or the like and in which the slider can be locked in a retreated position when the pencil is not in us.

Abstract: A dispenser for stick type products such as cosmetics and the like which tend to shrink with age includes a novel cup or godet to prevent the stick from moving axially out of the cup. The interior wall of the cup includes a plurality of spaced axially disposed and radially inwardly projecting ribs of dove-tail cross-section. These ribs bite into the stick and function as dove-tail locks to prevent the outer surface of the stick from moving axially and rotationally with respect to the cup, even if stick shrinkage takes place. A screw type dispenser is also described as typical of the types of dispenser with which the cup may be used.

Abstract: The device comprises: a tubular element (3) with a slide (4, 5) wherein there is slidably mounted a cup (9) intended to accommodate a stick of a product; a cylindrical shell (12) in the wall whereof provision is made for at least one helical groove capable of cooperating with the stubs (10, 11) of the cup, this shell (12) being fitted on the tubular element (3) and an external casing. The tubular element (3) with a slide is provided on its external wall towards its end remote from the outlet opening (17) with elastic stop (21) capable of bearing against the adjoining edge (22) of the cylindrical shell (12) when the latter has been fitted on the tubular element (3), the above mentioned elastic stop (21) pushing the shell (12) along a direction parallel to the axial direction against the stop (B1, 19) provided at the other end.

Abstract: The lead reservoir and feed mechanism of a knock type mechanical pencil is secured to the tubular barrel in which it is housed by a resilient locking sleeve positioned in a groove near the front of the feed mechanism and a spring compressed between a rearwardly facing internal abutment on the feed mechanism. The spring urges the lead reservoir and feed mechanism rearwardly into the barrel to a position where an external flange on the locking sleeve abuts the front end of the barrel.

Abstract: An improved writing implement comprising a barrel having multiple spiral grooves in the inner wall thereof so that a guide element of a carrier within the barrel having a single spiral thread thereon is selectively engaged with one of the multiple spiral grooves, a cap rotatably attachable to one end of the barrel including an insert portion having a protruding ring member projecting from the outer surface of the insert portion engageable with a corresponding ring groove in one end of the barrel, an extension on the cap protruding into the barrel and cooperatively engageable with the carrier so that rotation of the cap rotates and drives the carrier axially within the barrel for moving the lead inwardly or outwardly, and a tip having an insert end with multiple spiral projecting threads thereon cooperatively engageable with the sprial grooves in the barrel.

Abstract: On the top of a mould above each of several cavities for moulding sticks of lipstick, is disposed a first tubular element of a cup comprising an external device for catch-engagement with a second tubular element of the cup, which second tubular element is intended to cooperate with the rest of the case, namely a shell with its internal liner and sleeve. The composition of the lipstick is cast through the first tubular element portion to fill the cavity and at least partly fill the internal space of the first tubular element. After solidification, the case is brought above each cavity to mount the second tubular element in the upper portion of the case until the second tubular element is catch-engaged on the first tubular element. The unit thus formed is extracted from the mould by upward translation and the lipstick thus cast is retracted into its case.

Abstract: A device for braking between two substantially coaxial parts mounted for rotation relative to one another comprises a casing connected for rotation with a first part and adapted to surround at least a portion of the second part, the casing having flexible friction surfaces driven by the casing and situated against the inside surface of the casing, these friction surfaces being adapted to rub permanently against the outside surface of the second part.

Abstract: A mechanical pencil in which a lead delivery mechanism composed of a lead tank part, a lead chuck, a chuck ring, a sleeve having a stopper and the like is inserted into an outer cylinder having a stopper engaging portion from the rear of the outer cylinder in axially slidable manner, a stopper fitting stepped portion is positioned on the tank part apart from the stopper with a distance equivalent to or shorter than the knocking stroke, and the lead tank part is knocked so that the stopper is fitted to the stopper engaging portion of the outer cylinder, and a method for assembling such mechanical pencil.

Abstract: A lead delivery mechanism is integrally composed of a lead chuck for biting lead fitted to the extreme end of a lead pipe, sleeves abutting upon a chuck clamping ring loosely fitted to the head portion of the lead chuck, a spring member for clamping the chuck disposed resiliently between the sleeves and the lead pipe, and a locking ring locked loosely with the lead chuck to lock the rear end of the spring member, whereby such lead delivery mechanism may be handled as a block in assembly operations for mechanical pencils.

Abstract: A machine is shown which assembles a barrel, spring, piece of lead, lead plunger, barrel tip and eraser into an automatic pencil. The steps of assembly include: Pressing the lead plunger onto the lead. Placing the plunger and lead into the spring and tapping the plunger to turn its extending tabs into the coils of the spring. Placing the plunger, lead and spring into the barrel. Extending the spring from the barrel and pressing the barrel tip onto the spring and then pressing the tip into the barrel. Pressing the eraser into the barrel.

Abstract: A low-cost mechanical pencil employing an improved lead-driving mechanism in which there is cooperation between a low-cost, helical spring member through which moves a lead advance-retract member which is keyed to longitudinal grooves in the inner barrel wall. If the lead is subjected to excessive pressure during use, it is caused to partially retract into the tip by virtue of axial compression of the helical spring, thereby reducing the likelihood of lead breakage.

Abstract: A propelling pencil comprising an outer cylinder made of synthetic resin which can be easily molded as a unitary structure and an engaging member incorporating a chuck device including a lead propelling mechanism, the engaging member being detachably inserted into the outer cylinder from the rear side thereof, and thereby providing excellent appearance and light-touching operation.

Abstract: A knock-type propelling pencil, of which a lead casing is made in the form of a cartridge so that supply of new spare leads can be completed by only inserting the cartridge accommodating the given leads into lead cylinder in outer cylinder and thereby making the operation of supply of the new spare leads easier.

Abstract: A mechanical pencil has a clutch feature which prevents the breakage of the lead-carrying mechanism when the mechanism is advanced or retracted too hard or encounters an obstruction anywhere during its travel along the guide tube. The stationary lower barrel and guide tube are rotatably fixed to a rotating upper cap, knurled bushing and worm spring which drive the lead carrier along the stationary guide tube to advance and retract the lead. The lower end of the worm spring and the upper end of the cap bushing are linked together by clutch means which permits their relative slippage when excessive torque forces are encountered.

Abstract: A mechanical pencil includes a casing, a chuck for holding a lead, a lead passage connected with the chuck, a lead cartridge and a push button for advancing the lead. A cylindrical body is connected to the lead passage. The cylindrical body and the lead cartridge have guides so that the both may be snuggly and accurately engaged with each other in accordance with the diameter of leads which are used in the pencil.
