Abstract: A lipstick dispenser uses the normally decorative A-shell as a functional element by providing a plurality of longitudinal splines in the interior of the A-shell. The splines fit into notches in an elevator cup to keep the elevator in fixed relationship to the A-shell. A propel/retract mechanism is provided by lugs extending from the elevator that track in helical tracks in a base that is secured together with the A-shell. The base has flexible upwardly extending friction tabs that ride on the inside of the A-shell and provide a desired frictional drag.

Abstract: A case for a stick product which comprises an inner sleeve having a wall and two longitudinal tracks within the wall, each longitudinal track is positioned approximately circumferentially opposite with respect to the other. An outer sleeve is fitted about the inner sleeve so as to be able to rotate with respect to the inner sleeve. The outer sleeve has an inner wall, an outer wall, and four helical grooves along the inner wall. A holder cup for the stick product is fitted into the inner sleeve. The holder cup comprises a shell having an inner surface, an outer surface, a first set of lugs, and a second set of lugs, wherein one lug from each set extends through the same longitudinal track to engage one of the four helical grooves. By providing two set of lugs, as opposed to the traditional one set, skewing of the holder cup is dramatically reduced.

Abstract: A sealed cosmetic container provides an airtight receptacle for a cosmetic stick in a dispenser with a slim appearance. The dispenser includes a nose piece with a movable elevator which operates by engagement between screw threading on a stem under the elevator cup and on a cam piece or between a lug under the elevator cup and helical tracks on a cam piece. The cam piece fits into the lower end of the nose piece and the parts are snapped together, with a bead inside the nose piece tightly engaging a lip or bead on the outside of the cam piece, to provide a seal between the two parts to prevent premature drying out of a cosmetic stick. The engaged beads also provide an enhanced swivel torque.

Abstract: To make full use of a rod-like glue contained in a cylindrical dispenser main body of a glue dispenser to its final portion, a spiral member of a rotary operator element of the glue dispenser has a spiral outer diameter which is set to be equal to or larger than 30% and equal to or smaller than 80% of the outer diameter of rod-like glue, and a spiral pitch which is set to be equal to or larger than 50% and equal to or smaller than 300% of the spiral outer diameter. The spiral member is directly screwed to the rod-like glue integrally attached to a slider coupled with a bottom portion of the glue by elastic retaining pieces by which it is not necessary to form a top face of the slider in a recessed shape. The rod-like glue can be extracted and retracted from and to a dispenser main body by moving up and down the glue by rotating the rotary operator element.

Abstract: A lipstick holder for supporting a stick of solid product subject to crumbling. The holder is mounted for sliding in a case. It includes a cylindrical wall which forms a stick supporting skirt for maintaining the stick base, a transverse bottom and a device for retaining the stick. A slot is provided in the cylindrical wall which extends to the bottom and is delimited by two side edges linked by an upper edge opposite the bottom. The opening includes the device for retaining the stick.

Abstract: A dispenser includes a holder/carrier for products of stick-like form to enable application of a wide variety of materials. A plurality of resilient/flexible barbs having spring-like properties extend into the holder/carrier for embedding into the received material. The barbs preclude dislodgment of the stick-like product which may occur due to vibration caused during shipment or subsequent use of the dispenser.

Abstract: Lipstick refills in a plurality of colors are packaged in a cylindrical body (3), which is clear plastic along its upper half. The body defines one or more helical grooves (7) in a lower half which receive tips (6a, 6b) of a sliding unit (4) in which a stick of lipstick is received. A pointed hollow element (12) covers the stick of lipstick during transportation and sale, but is removed for use. The sliding unit defines one or more longitudinal grooves (5a, 5b) which slidingly receive longitudinally extending ribs (2a, 2b) of a base (1) when detents (8a) of the base snap into annular groove (9) of the body. As the body and base are rotated relative to each other, the interaction of the longitudinal ribs (2a, 2b) and the longitudinal groove (5a, 5b) cause the sliding unit to rotate relative to the body and follow along the spiral grooves extending and retracting the stick of lipstick.

Abstract: A shaped crystalline deodorant is made from mixture of a mineral salt and water which is heated above the melting point of the salt, placed in a mold having the desired shape, and crystalized after insertion of an internally threaded member into the mixture. The deodorant has an oval cross-sectional shape with the insert imbedded therewithin and is secured into a container. The container includes a threaded stem attached to the container for rotational movement which is translated to axial movement of the deodorant with respect to the container. The threaded stem cooperates with the internally threaded insert to allow the crystallized deodorant to be moved up or down within the container by rotating the threaded stem.

Abstract: An elevator cup configured for vertical sliding movement and for retaining a portion of a solid stick-form product within a dispensing container. The dispensing container has an internal surface, an open top end, a closed bottom end, and means for selectively reciprocally moving the elevator cup in a piston-like manner between a retracted position adjacent the closed bottom end and a fully advanced position adjacent the open top end. The elevator cup includes a horizontal base with top and bottom portions. The top portion is configured for retaining an end portion of the stick-form product. A ductile flange extends along a perimeter of the base for sealing against the internal surface of the container to prevent seepage of liquid product and product volatiles, and to substantially absorb and distribute shock associated with handling of the container, away from the product.

Abstract: A double-chuck mechanical pencil has an outer tube, a tip fitting provided in the front of the outer tube, a tip chuck located at the tip of the tip fitting for holding a writing substance (e.g., a lead) and urged rearward in the axial directed, and a delivery chuck for delivering the lead. At least one of the tip chuck and the delivery chuck is formed of a synthetic resin material including polyoxymethylene.

Abstract: The present invention provides retention devices for securing an expendable mass, e.g., lipsticks, deodorants, anti-perspirants, glue or the likes, to an expellant holder by providing one or more spikes fixedly attached to a receiving cup of the expellant holder such that the one or more spikes penetrate the expendable mass to anchor the mass to the receiving cup.

Abstract: A lipstick holder is composed of a main base provided at one end thereof with a central base. The central base is fastened with a slide seat from the bottom so as to enable the slide seat together with the central base to be fastened with the main base, and enable the top end of the central base to be rather high in an appropriate distance at the top end of the main base. A cap is further fastened with the main base at one end thereof. The thread in the inner wall of the main base is engaged with the protuberance piece of the slide seat. The retaining ring of the central base is engaged with the halved ring of the main base.

Abstract: A device for holding a stick or rod of spreadable material includes a sleeve or container open on one side, an element co-acting with the stick, and a hand-operated means for varying the distance between the edge of the open side of the sleeve and the stick element. The stick or rod of spreadable material can be an adhesive stick or a wax stick. The stick of spreadable material is packaged separately from the device in an envelope of thin material, and the container includes means for securely holding an envelope of thin material suitable for packaging the stick.

Abstract: A writing instrument includes a tubular body, a guide sleeve, an outer sleeve, and a holder. The outer sleeve includes at least one groove on an inner surface thereof, and the guide sleeve includes at least one rib on a forward portion thereof to engage the groove of the outer sleeve. An inclined surface continuously inclining relative to the axial direction of the outer sleeve is formed at a rearward end portion of either side wall of the groove such that a width of the groove becomes wider in a direction of the rearward end. An inclined surface continuously inclining relative to the axial direction of the outer sleeve is formed at a forward end portion of either side wall of the rib such that a width of the rib becomes smaller in a direction of the forward end. An inclined angle of the inclined surface of the groove is not less than that of the inclined surface of the rib.

Abstract: The cosmetic container has parts that are interchangeable so that the barrel can be used to contain different fill weights. Different fill weights are used at different times such as during promotions to give about 10 to 25 percent more product. By the selection of different effective length of projections on the lower surface of the cosmetic holder and/or projections and the upper surface of the base portion of the container the distance of the cosmetic holder above the base portion at full retraction can be set to different levels. The effective length is the length that a projection maintains the base portion and cosmetic holder apart. Since the space between the cosmetic holder and the top of the barrel will be filled with product for all product amounts the cosmetic holder setting above the base portion will determine the fill amount. In the technique fewer parts need to be stocked for the differing fill levels.

Abstract: A holder for a lipstick container is designed to improve the degree of attachment of the lipstick bar and to optimize the stability of the lipstick bar inside of the holder. A stop is established in the base of the holder to limit the insertion of the bar. The base is provided with a plurality of harpoons each having an outwardly directed tooth which determines a straight downwardly directed step. Opposite each harpoon is a respective chamfer which provides radial movement of the material of the lipstick bar in order to fill the grooves thus created by the harpoon teeth.

Abstract: A device for the packaging and application of a friable product presented in the form of a lipstick including a tubular element with slide(s), wherein there is slidably mounted a cup intended to receive the lipstick, the cup having at least one stub engaged in a corresponding slide delimited by two longitudinal edges. A cylindrical shell provided with an internal helical groove has the tubular element freely rotatable inside it, with the stubs of the cup engaging in the helical grooves of the shell. Soft friction between the cup and the tubular element is ensured by a tangential elastic deformation of at least one of the longitudinal edges of a slide during the passing of the stub whose width is slightly larger than the width of the slide.

Abstract: A retainer cylinder in which a cosmetic stick is fitted and held is provided with an engagement projection on a side surface therof and inserted in a guide cylinder so that the retainer cylinder can be moved slidingly in the vertical direction. A side wall of the guide cylinder is provided with an axially elongated guide groove through which the engagement projection is passed, and an annular locking recess is formed around the portion of an outer surface of the guide cylinder which is below a lower end of the guide groove. This guide cylinder is inserted in a sleeve so that the guide cylinder can be turned. The sleeve is provided at its lower portion with a locking rib engageable with the locking recess, whereby the sleeve is combined with the guide cylinder so that the sleeve does not come off from the guide cylinder, the sleeve being provided in its inner surface with a helical knurled thread having innumerable projections and recesses.

Abstract: A new chalk holding device for marking a tire of a vehicle. The inventive device includes an elongate shaft having an upper straight portion and a lower arcuate portion which curves away from the longitudinal axis of the straight portion such that the lower end of the shaft is extended at obtuse angle from the longitudinal axis of the straight portion. The lower end of said shaft has an attachment device for attaching a stick of chalk to the lower end of the shaft. An elongate handle rod is extended through the straight portion such that the ends of the handle rod outwardly extend away from the straight portion.

Abstract: A container for dispensing solid crystal deodorant including an elongated outer tubular member having both of its ends open and an elongated slot longitudinally disposed on its inside surface. An elongated inner tubular member, with at least one open end, is rotably held within the outer tubular member. The inner tubular member has helical grooves. Positioned inside the inner tubular member is a holder suitable for holding a solid crystal deodorant product to extend out from the container. The holder has tabs inserted through the helical grooves and into the elongated slot. The holder also has a plurality of projections extending from its periphery which contact an indentation on the external surface of the crystal deodorant to hold the solid crystal deodorant onto the holder.

Abstract: The cosmetic container is comprised of three primary parts. These are a barrel, an elevator, and a cap. The elevator has a cosmetic support surface, anchoring recesses and a well. The barrel is open at the top and usually closed at the bottom, with an adjustment recess in a surface. The well of the elevator slideably fits into the adjustment recess, and preferably conforms to the peripheral shape of the barrel. The well functions as a device to raise the elevator upwardly to dispense product and as a reservoir for the product when it is in a liquid form during the filling of the barrel above the elevator. The well holds the amount of product that is needed for the space between about the top of the barrel and a disposable cover that is used to shape the top of the cosmetic. After the barrel is filled and the disposable cover and cap put in place, the container is inverted with the liquid product flowing from the elevator well to the space between about the top of the barrel and the disposable cover.

Abstract: A stick holder cup (3) intended to be slidably mounted in a case (1) includes a closed transverse bottom (31) for supporting a stick of solid product liable to crumble. A cylindrical sidewall (32) of the cup is joined to this bottom, and the cup is moved axially by drive (33). The cylindrical sidewall has at least one axial microgroove (34) for creating an air escape route when the stick of the product is being positioned in the cup.

Abstract: A mechanism for feeding a core material such as a stick type cosmetic material includes an internal thread member having a spirally grooved inner surface and a push rod provided with a group of protrusions which engage with the spiral groove of the internal thread member; wherein the push rod is advanced or retracted by turning the internal thread member and the push rod engaged therewith relative to each other to feed the core material housed in a container to be slidably moved the push rod. Since the protrusions on the surface of the push rod can be of a simple shape, the push rod can be produced easily, and this effect manifests particularly in a comparison with the case where a thread must be formed on the push rod over the entire length thereof, requiring laborious thread machining or die making.

Abstract: The present invention is a case for a stick product that prevents the release of the stick product from the holder cup the case comprises an inner sleeve having a wall and a longitudinal track within the wall. The longitudinal track has a first upper lateral segment and a second upper lateral segment, said first upper lateral segment having a ramp. An outer sleeve is fitted about the inner sleeve so as to be able to rotate with respect to the inner sleeve, said outer sleeve having an inner wall, an outer wall, and a helical track along the inner wall. A holder cup is fitted into the inner sleeve. The holder cup comprises a shell having an inner surface and an outer surface. A lug is attached to the outer surface and extends through the longitudinal track to engage the helical track. A bellows portion is located below the lug and comprises part of the shell of the holder cup, said bellows capable of occupying a first stretched position and a second contracted position.

Abstract: The present invention is a holder cup for a stick-type product which comprises a hollow housing which is configured to receive a stick-type product. The hollow housing has a wall which contains at least one aperture. A tab capable of occupying a first open position or second locked position is pivotally mounted within an aperture. The tab has an outer cam surface which extends past the outside of the wall of the housing, and has a notch which fits the wall of the housing when the tab is in the second position. When the tab is caused to pivot toward the center of the holder cup the tab punctures the product and locks in place, thus preventing the release of the product from the holder cup.

Abstract: A cosmetic carrier for a cosmetic container is designed so that the carrier may be top-filled or bottom-filled. The cosmetic carrier includes a cosmetic receiving cup defined by sidewalls and a base. The base of the cosmetic carrier includes a plurality of displaceable members which may be displaced upward permitting the cosmetic carrier to be bottom-filled but wherein downward displacement of the members is limited to permit the cosmetic carrier to be top-filled. A stop associated with the base limits downward movement and a hinge line on the upper surface of the base permits upward displacement of the displaceable members of the base.

Abstract: A cosmetic container having an inner sleeve and cosmetic carrier which cooperate to provide requisite torque and prevent angular movement therebetween. The cosmetic carrier includes a plurality of radially outwardly extending, vertical ribs and the inner sleeve includes a plurality of radially inwardly extending, vertical ribs. The cosmetic carrier is positioned within the inner sleeve wherein the ribs of one member cooperate with the ribs of the other. When the inner sleeve is rotated so as to extend or retract the cosmetic carrier, the inwardly extending ribs of the inner sleeve engage the outwardly extending ribs of the cosmetic carrier. When the cosmetic carrier is fully extended or fully retracted, the inwardly extending ribs of the inner sleeve and the outwardly extending ribs of the carrier are disengaged.

Abstract: A cosmetic container for a cosmetic, such as lipstick, which permits the cosmetic to be extended and retracted for application and which permits a low swivel torque, which operates smoothly, and which substantially minimizes or prevents "push-back". The container includes a uniquely configured lug which cooperates with a helical channel of a tubular sleeve to prevent push-back which is defined as unwanted movement of the lipstick within the container caused by downward axial force which results when the lipstick is applied. According to one embodiment, the lug includes an end surface portion having a compound surface wherein one portion thereof is parallel to the longitudinal axis and another portion thereof is positioned at an acute angle to the longitudinal axis. The compound surface also includes a line of intersection defining the portions which is, itself, angularly positioned relative to a plane normal to the longitudinal axis.

Abstract: A container for a compact product including a housing, a stem, and a follower engaged with the stem adapted to move axially within the container in response to rotation of the stem. The follower including a central tube threadingly engaged with the stem that is adapted to flex when the follower is in a retracted position and the stem is rotated, to permit the stem to rotate relative to the follower. A fingerwheel may be included to facilitate rotation of the stem.

Abstract: The dispenser for lip-salve or similar ointment includes a tube, an elevator axially movable within the tube for expelling the ointment, and a screw rotatable within the cylinder and interacting with the elevator for moving the elevator within the tube. The internal threads on the elevator interact with the external threads on the screw when the screw is rotated. The elevator is generally cup-shaped, and is arranged to prevent relative rotation between the elevator and the tube. A knob is integral with the screw and external of the tube, and a groove in the knob and a collar in the tube permit relative rotation of the knob and screw with the tube but prevents relative axial movement between the tube and the screw. At least one inclined plane is on the bottom of the cup-shaped elevator and interacts with at least one inclined plane on the knob, within the tube, whereby when turning the knob, the inclined planes on the knob forceably push the inclined planes on the elevator axially within the tube.

Abstract: There is provided a device for dispensing a semi-solid or highly viscous product, such as a cosmetic product or pomade, which tends to vaporize and shrink with the passage of time. The device includes a support member to prevent the product from moving axially, radially or otherwise undesirably within the support member. The inner wall of the support member includes a plurality of radially curved and inwardly extending ribs that support the product therein without fracturing the product when it is inserted into the support member. The ribs support the product to prevent the product from moving axially and orbitally with respect to the support member.

Abstract: A lipstick comprising a cartridge and a base wherein the base is formed with upward latches which snap barb fashion over an annular shoulder in the lower end of the inner of the cartridge. The pomade cup has a downward projection to hold the latches outward. Specifically, the cup has a downward "stovepipe" which, when the cup is retracted, fits inside the latches to prevent them from springing inward on impact and releasing the cartridge.

Abstract: An outer body surrounds a main body and is rotatable with respect to the main body to move up and down a cosmetic holder received in the main body. A casing surrounds the outer body and is rotatable simultaneously with the outer body. The bottom end of the main body is enlarged to form a circumferentially outward projecting bottom extension to be engaged within an annular recess formed cooperatively by the lower end portions of the outer body and the casing. The bottom extension preferably comprises a cylindrical wall portion and an enlarged bead portion formed in the middle of the cylindrical wall portion and projecting outwardly therefrom.

When the stick product originally within the dispenser is used, the refill cartridge is partially inserted into an open end of the empty dispenser holder, and the cartridge is either pushed or drawn into the dispenser, for refilling the same with the desired stick product, and permitting nonconsumable portions of the stick product dispenser to be repeatedly reused via such refilling.

Abstract: The glue stick apparatus for a ring binder comprises a housing having a peripheral edge with at least one hole being sized so as to accommodate a ring of a ring binder. The housing has a chamber formed therein. A glue stick support assembly is supported within the chamber of the housing. A glue stick is supported by the glue stick support assembly. The glue stick support assembly includes a rotatable knob and a threaded rod integrally connected to the knob and extending along a longitudinal axis of the chamber within the housing. A glue stick support member has an opening for threadable engagement with the threaded rod.

A stick-shaped piece supplying cassette capable of supplying a stick-shaped piece to the stick-shaped piece drive container in a simple way is also provided. An inner cylinder has a projection provided on a rear inside thereof that fits the helical groove, and is immovably mounted in the outer cylinder but is rotatable in an axial direction thereof to extend out of it forwardly. A stick-shaped piece holder is detachably coupled with the connecting portion of the screw shaft and slidably provided in the inner cylinder for holding a stick-shaped piece.

Abstract: A lipstick including a spiral tube having a spiral groove formed in its inner surface, a slotted sleeve with at least one axial slot and extending into the spiral tube for relative rotation thereto for enabling displacement in opposite directions of a case with a waxstick insertable into the sleeve and the tube and having a boss movable through the slot and engaging in the spiral groove upon insertion. The case with the waxstick, together with the stick cap, are formed as a single unit before being inserted into the lipstick mechanics.

Abstract: A package for dispensing solid products, such as solid crystal deodorant, includes a first hollow main body portion having a uniform cross section throughout its length. Both ends of the package are open; and a slide member is located within the main body portion. The bottom end of the main body portion of the package has an inwardly turned flange to prevent the movement of the slide member outwardly from the main body portion through the bottom end. The solid crystal deodorant is mounted on the slide member, and is configured to freely move from the bottom end of the main body portion outwardly through the upper end. Drain holes are placed through the slide member to permit fluid, such as water, to pass downwardly from the sides of the crystal deodorant and out through the holes when the package is stored in an upright position. A chamber in the slide member is filled with a sponge-like material for receiving fluid which passes from the crystal deodorant through the holes in the slide member.

Abstract: A screw-type propel/repel lipstick has a stepped profile along one edge of the slot in the sleeve of a lipstick. The stepped edge is on the lower end of the spiral opening in the cam where the opening overlies the slot. Preferably, the cup lug has a point in its cross section pointing down toward the stepped side of the slot. When the pomade starts to backoff, the point of the lug catches on the stepped profile.

Abstract: A package for dispensing solid products, such as solid crystal deodorant, includes a first hollow main body portion having a uniform cross section throughout its length. Both ends of the package are open; and a slide member is located within the main body portion. The bottom end of the main body portion of the package has an inwardly turned flange to prevent the movement of the slide member outwardly from the main body portion through the bottom end. Drain holes are placed through the slide member to permit fluid, such as water, to pass downwardly from the sides of the crystal deodorant and out through the holes when the package is stored in an upright position. A chamber in the slide member is filled with a sponge-like material for receiving fluid which passes from the crystal deodorant through the holes in the slide member.

Abstract: An applicator for a pasty product in stick form having a longitudinal axis and a base and a lateral face and a movable cup serving as a stick-holder with a cup having an internal lateral face and a bottom portion; the method of manufacture comprises inserting the base of the stick into the cup which has a closed peripheral side wall and an opening for allowing the escape of air upon insertion of the base of the stick into the cup which opening is subsequently closed.

Abstract: A cosmetic preparation dispenser is provided that has flex tabs formed on the lower end of the innerbody that bear against the cam sleeve to provide a desirable swivel torque, and which extend inwardly to engage or confine the elevator cup when it is fully retracted, to prevent vibration of the cup within the innerbody.
