  • Patent number: 10882153
Abstract: A vacuum dust extraction apparatus for a percussive air tool contains and extracts workplace dust created by the impacting action of the air tool's implement. The apparatus includes a clamshell adapter constructed as two halves that are oppositely disposed about the air tool's retainer, and joined to enclose the retainer, and a tubular dust bellows fastened to the outboard end of the joined clamshell halves. The clamshell adaptor includes an integral exhaust port, and an industrial vacuum coupled to the exhaust port via a flexible suction/vacuum hose creates suction in the bellows for extracting airborne dust created by percussive action of the implement on a workpiece. Suction loss through the clamshell adaptor is minimized by a sealing element that bridges a gap between the interior periphery of the clamshell adaptor and the exterior periphery of the air tool's retainer.

  • Patent number: 8696271
Abstract: A fastening nut for fastening a receiving body and a collet together is disclosed. The fastening nut comprises a main body having an outer surface, a first end, and a second end distal to the first end and a plurality of blades located radially on the outer surface of the main body, wherein each blade is at an angle to the second end. The fastening nut is attachable on the receiving body for coaxial retention of the collet. Furthermore, axial rotation of the fastening nut creates a suction proximate the second end of the fastening nut. In one embodiment of the fastening nut, the plurality of blades protrude axially past the second end of the main body in a direction away from the first end. A tool bit holding system and a system and method for machining specimens comprising the fastening nut are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8684639
Abstract: In a device for limiting the advance during a drilling operation, which can be used in conjunction with a hand drill or with an automatic manufacturing machine, the device comprising a housing with a stop cage and a spindle mounted rotatably and axially displaceably in the housing, and a stop which is adjustable in the axial direction being arranged for limiting the advance, the invention consists in that the stop cage (2a) comprises a pin fixed to the housing for breaking the chips, with a housing-side end and a free end, in such a way that it extends approximately parallel and directly adjacent to the workpiece surface and approximately radially from the outside towards the drilling tool in such a way that its free end almost touches the countersink. Damage to the surface of workpieces is prevented by the invention, so that corresponding refinishing is avoided. Moreover, the removal of the coiled chips from the drilling tool previously necessary after each drilling cycle is dispensed with.

Abstract: A core retaining device is provided for use with a core drill bit, which is adapted to cut a core from a material such as concrete. The core retaining device includes a core attachment mechanism for releasably connecting the core retaining device to the core. A bearing is connected to the core attachment mechanism and allows the drill bit to rotate while the core attachment mechanism remains statically connected to the core. A biasing arrangement operably connects between the drill bit and the core via the bearing, and axially biases the core away from the material preventing the core from slipping from the drill bit. The core retaining device further includes at least one auxiliary safety feature such as extensions which extend laterally outward from the drill bit.
