  • Patent number: 8079788
Abstract: A main body of a machine tool is covered with a cover. A ceiling portion of the cover that is situated over a spindle motor is provided with an opening portion. The cover is provided with hanging portions that hang down from the opening portion with a predetermined clearance from side surfaces of the spindle motor other than the rear surface. Air that is mixed with a misty cutting fluid in a space inside the cover is sucked in through a suction pipe by a mist collector. The outside air flows into the space inside the cover through the clearance. The outside air that passes through the clearance is driven to flow through vents by a built-in cooling fan of the spindle motor, thereby cooling the motor, and is then discharged to the outside. In consequence, the temperature in the space inside the cover can never be increased by heating of the spindle motor.

  • Patent number: 8002503
Abstract: A system for removing debris generated by a cutting tool draws the debris into a mixing chamber formed in a workpiece clamp where the debris is combined with a high velocity airflow. A vacuum source draws the debris-air mixture into a cyclonic airflow extraction chamber where the mixture is accelerated before being extracted from the clamp through an exhaust channel. A clamping ring seals the area surrounding the cutting site so that air velocity in the mixing chamber is increased and debris is accelerated into the extraction chamber.

  • Patent number: 7926570
Abstract: A well bore fluid recovery system and method is disclosed for recovering a column of well bore fluid within a stand of casing before cutting the casing. The recovery system relates to a system for preventing fluids from being spilled when casing is being finished for a well bore. After being run the casing must be cut and finished at an appropriate level to install rig equipment such as blow out preventers along with other equipment. However, because of earlier operations, the entire length of casing is typically filled with drilling fluid. Depending on conditions, the length of casing which is to be cut and removed may therefore over a 100-foot (27.4 meter) column of drilling fluid therein. The drilling fluid in this section must be properly drained before the casing is cut and removed.
