  • Patent number: 7037054
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for defining a bending or welding groove in a cutting blade. A pair of fixed blocks are fixed to a base of a cutting blade forming apparatus. A slider is slidably coupled to each fixed block, and a bit support block is slidably coupled to the slider. The slider and the bit support block are respectively operated by first and second operating mechanisms. First through fourth guide parts are formed on the fixed block, slider and bit support block, to constitute dovetail joints. The first guide parts of the fixed blocks and second guide parts of sliders are formed to have a slope, such that, as the sliders are lowered, they are horizontally moved toward each other. A lower portion of a broaching bit is formed as a supporting surface, and at least one broaching edge portion is formed above the supporting surface portion.

  • Patent number: 6409442
Abstract: A vertical internal push broaching machine comprises a machine column and a workpiece lifting table which is guided for displacement on carriage guideways. Underneath the lifting table, a feeder carriage is disposed vertically displaceably on guideways. These guideways can be separate from the carriage guideways. The lifting table is actuated by means of a single elevating drive which is disposed behind the plane spanned by the carriage guideways.

  • Patent number: 5984600
Abstract: The invention relates to a broaching machine comprised of a machine table for receiving a workpiece and being mounted in a machine frame. There is a platform which is driven so as to be displaceable relative to the table, as well as of one or more of axially operating broaching tools, which can be coupled with the platform. The machine table and the platform are displaceable in oppositely oriented directions. The machine table and platform are preferably driven via a common spindle drive. The spindles have two oppositely oriented threaded sections and the machine table and platform each are mounted on one of the two oppositely oriented threaded sections for a driving connection.

  • Patent number: 5833411
Abstract: A vertical broaching machine comprises a machine stand having an upper rail and a lifting carriage displaceably guided on the stand and drivable by means of lifting spindles which are supported in spindle nuts lodged in the rail for rotational driving. An upper workpiece holder is mounted on the rail, holding a broach when a compressive broaching job is carried out.

  • Patent number: 5326201
Abstract: Apparatus for progressive blind broaching has an indexing table which carries a load station, a unload station and several tool stations. Broaches are mounted on the table at the tool stations. Rams on opposite sides of the table move workpieces up and down to be broached between intermittent indexing of the table. The load station has a workpiece holder to deliver unbroached workpieces to the rams. The unload station has a workpiece holder to receive broached workpieces from the rams. A transfer mechanism moves workpieces from a exchange depot at the rear of the table to the load station and moves workpieces from the unload station to the exchange depot. This transfer mechanism moves across the top of the table and does not occupy or obstruct any space along the sides or front of the table.

  • Patent number: 5078556
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for the finish-machining of the bearing diameters, particularly the main bearing diameters and of the adjoining cheek side surfaces on crankshafts and similar workpieces in a single chucking. In order that this machining can be carried out rapidly and nevertheless with a high quality of production, the following method steps are carried out, one after the other: milling of the cheek side surfaces to nominal size up to the bearing diameter; turning of the bearing diameter down to a small oversize; turning-broaching of the bearing diameters to nominal size in order to obtain a good quality surface, and possibly turning/turning-broaching of recesses, clearance cuts and undercuts in the region of the bearings.

  • Patent number: 4801226
Abstract: A broaching machine and method for machining main bearings and crankpin bearings on a crankshaft for an automotive engine wherein a plurality of removable cutting tool inserts are arranged on a horizontally reciprocating slide below a rotating crankshaft to machine a plurality of bearings and distribute machining forces over the machining operation during a single pass of the slide. The slide also serves as a transfer device for loading and unloading crankshafts into the machine. An air bearing can be developed between the slide and the tooling to assist the operator in removing the tooling from the slide.

  • Patent number: 4531868
Abstract: A high production surface broaching machine, in which a plurality of parts are located and clamped simultaneously in broaching position, broached, and simultaneously unclamped and discharged into an outchute. The plurality of parts are moved horizontally into position below the broaching position, and are then raised into accurately located broaching position against horizontal locating and ejection bar means. After broaching, the bar means pushes the broached parts down into laterally open recesses in an elongated bar, which is then moved longitudinally relative to a cam which guides the parts out of the recesses into an outchute.

  • Patent number: 4405270
Abstract: A broaching machine broaches a multiplicity of generally flat work pieces having a projection at only one side, which are advanced in a single file with the projections extending in the same direction. In order to broach the work pieces in stacked pairs in which the peripheries of the work pieces are continuous, rather than spaced apart by confronting projections, half of the work pieces are inverted and a pair consisting of one inverted work piece and one work piece which has not been inverted are stacked together and presented to a pot broach which broaches the peripheries of both work pieces of the pair in continuous cutting strokes. The finished work pieces are advanced away from the broaching station in stacked condition and are separated into two groups, one of which consists of the bottom work pieces of the pair and the otherconsists of the top work pieces of the pair. This places all work pieces in the same orientation with respect to the lateral projection.
