Cutter Comprising A Rack Patents (Class 409/47)
  • Patent number: 9144854
Abstract: The invention concerns a method of generating gear teeth, wherein a workpiece which is to receive a toothed profile and a cutting tool are advanced toward each other in a rolling feed motion until each tooth flank of the gear profile has been generated after several passes of the tool, wherein in each pass a cut surface containing at least one flank cut is generated on the workpiece, wherein an auxiliary motion is superimposed on the rolling motion, which has the effect that the flank cuts generated in at least two immediately consecutive passes will be connected to each other. In addition, the invention also concerns a gear-cutting machine with the requisite control features to perform the method.

  • Patent number: 4825715
Abstract: A gear transmission with a variable pressure angle has the following meshing geometry: a contact ratio greater than one, height of the addendum of gear and pinion teeth being a function of its module "m" determined by the relationship m<h.sub.g <1.8, a height of a tooth root of the pinion being limited by the value of a profile angle .alpha..sub.z equal to .alpha..sub.z .gtoreq.8.degree., a height of a tooth root of the gear determined by the relationship m<H.sub.s <1.8 m and increased by the value of radial clearance and a height of an addendum of the greater teeth equal to the height of the tooth root of gear and pinion, decreased by the value of radial clearance. The teeth are made with racks of involute profile having cutting edges and their constant base circle determined from apparent number of teeth and a constant pressure angle.

  • Patent number: 4720220
Abstract: For machining the tooth flanks of a hardened workpiece having pre-formed teeth two cutting blades or plates are secured to a cutting blade or plate holder. The cutting blades or plates are provided with a base member or backing formed of a hard metal and a cover layer sintered thereon which is formed of cubic boron nitride. Each cutting blade forms a cutting surface and a clearance surface. Each individual cutting blade or plate is arranged at the cutting blade or plate holder in relation to the direction of the intended cutting movement such that the surface of the cover layer forms the clearance surface and an end face or surface of the cover layer is located in the cutting surface. Consequently, there is achieved the result that the cutting surface can be reground in the same manner as tools which, for example, are made of hardened steel and which are not provided with a cover layer.

  • Patent number: 4261674
Abstract: A gear cutting machine and method for fabricating workpieces, especially steering segments, for transmissions having a variable transmission ratio, wherein there takes place between the workpiece and a gear cutter or hob a part-rolling or generating movement composed of a generating rotation about the workpiece axis and a generating displacement transverse to the workpiece axis as well as a to-and-fro cutting movement along the workpiece axis. An additional movement, controlled by a template and directed transverse to the workpiece axis, alters the course of the generating curve of the workpiece. This additional movement controlled by the template constitutes a change of the work position of the gear cutter and which change is directed transverse to the generating displacement.
