    Abstract: Provided are methods of attaching parts using slot cases and assemblies comprising these slot cases. A slot case is inserted into a slot or slid on a tab of a first part prior to attaching it to a second part. The first part may have pores that are partially open at the surface of the slot or tab. These pores may receive adhesive while attaching the two parts. The adhesive volume going into these partially open pores may vary among different first parts. To ensure that enough adhesive is supplied between the slot case and first part, the adhesive is introduced in between these components before attaching the second part and while the slot case and first part are more accessible. The adhesive may be supplied through the bottom of the slot case and continue until the adhesive appears at the top edges of the slot case.

    Abstract: A wall cladding anchorage has a rod with ends loosely enveloped by fabric sleeves. The wall is drilled to receive one end and the cladding is drilled, or otherwise formed with a cavity, to receive the other end. Either the wall or the cladding may have the anchorage fixed first, by grout being injected to expand the sleeve and seep through it to bond to the drilling or cavity wall. Then the cladding is offered up and the other sleeve likewise expanded, the grout being injected via a duct leading between the cladding and the wall. Instead of a single part rod, there may be two elements, such as a tube and a rod that screws into it, each with a sleeve so that the cladding or wall need not have significantly projections until shortly before the cladding is fixed. It is also possible to have a single sleeve over the whole rod and inject grout into its central zone, between the wall and cladding.

    Abstract: This invention relates to a fastener, which expands by the insertion of an expanding member, preferably a screw. The fastener comprises a substantially flat head and two expandable legs. The head has an upper side and a lower side, preferably separated by a gap. The head also has a hole (round, oblong or otherwise shaped) in which the expanding body may engage or pass through for expanding the legs and securing one object to another object, such as a plastic panel to a metal sheet. The fastener also comprises a Y-shaped funnel configuration, which has been formed by a partial cut of the legs. Miscellaneous configurations of the Y shaped legs provide improved guidance to the expanding member, improved engagement to at least one of the objects, such as the metal sheet for example, and improved engagement to the expanding member, among other advantages. The fastener may also comprise portions under the upper side of the head, which portions are engageable to the expanding member.

    Abstract: A microencapsulated adhesive and a method for producing that microencapsulated adhesive is disclosed. The adhesive is produced from an alkyl acrylate or methacrylate monomer having about 4 to about 12 carbon atoms, or a mixture thereof. The monomer is encapsulated by interfacial polymerization, gelatin/gum arabic coacervation or melamine/formaldehyde encapsulation. The microcapsules may be polyamide or polyurea. The monomer is polymerized in the microcapsules by heating to form an adhesive that is non-tacky, but becomes tacky upon application of external forces, such as shearing. The microencapsulated adhesive composition may be used, among other applications, as an adhesive for stamps or envelopes.
