  • Patent number: 11950816
Abstract: A bone fixation clamp includes first and second clamp members, a stud, and a locking nut. The first member extends along a curve corresponding to an outer surface of a first portion of bone and includes an opening extending therethrough along an axis extending adjacent to the bone. The second member extends along a curve corresponding to an outer surface of a second portion of bone. The stud is receivable within the opening of the first member. The nut includes a threaded channel threadedly engaging a portion of the stud so that, when the first and second members are in the operative configuration, the nut is threadable over the stud to fix the first and second members over bone. The nut includes an anti-loosening feature which, when the nut is threaded over the stud, results in an interference with threading along the stud.

  • Patent number: 7896597
Abstract: A fastener for fastening a heat sink to a printed circuit board via a back plate comprises a head and a shaft extending from the head. The shaft comprises a first and second engaging portions and a connecting portion therebetween. The first and second engaging portions have outer threads on exteriors thereof. Two cutouts are defined in the connecting portion. The back plate defines four thread holes machined with inner threads for engaging with the outer threads. In use of the fastener, an elastic force is produced to the fastener due to a deformation of the two cutouts during the threading. The elastic force helps the outer threads to have a secure engagement with the inner threads whereby the fastener can firmly engage with the back plate even when the fastener is subject to vibration or shock.

Abstract: A locking nut comprising at least two nut portions and at least one frangible bridging portion and a method of making a locking nut. The nut portions are made from a single nut. Each nut portion has an outer gripping surface and a centrally disposed threaded aperture for receiving and engaging a screw. The bridging portion is integral with the nut portions and is disposed to a side of the aperture adjacent to the gripping surface. The nut portions are disposed on either side of the bridging portion so that the apertures are axially aligned, the threads are aligned and a space is defined between opposing faces of the nut portions. By applying torque to one of the nut portions relative to the other nut portion, the bridging portion is sheared and opposing faces of the nut portions are brought into contact and the nut portions are locked in place.

Abstract: A compact locking nut has a body provided with a threaded bore along which the nut engages a thread so that upon rotation it will advance over a thread to a position suitable for securing and positioning a machine component such as a bearing. The nut has a machined back face along which it bears against the secured machine component and a front face at its other end. The body contains two grooves--one external in that it opens outwardly from the exterior surface and the other internal in that it opens into the bore--and these grooves divide the body into a clamping section, a locking section, and an intervening web which is thin enough to flex with relative ease. The external groove lies closest to the back face, whereas the internal groove lies closest to the front face. On its exterior the body has lands which extend out to the front face. Abstract: A locking nut includes a main ring having a threaded bore, a front end face at one end of the bore and a counterbore at the other end of the bore. Actually, the threaded bore opens into the counterbore through a recess which in turn opens out of a shoulder that forms the end of the counterbore. The main ring also has threaded holes which open out of the recess around the threaded center bore. In addition to the main ring, the nut has a secondary ring which fits into the counterbore and against the shoulder of the main ring. In the region of the threaded holes the secondary ring is relieved to the extent that it has a lesser diameter than the recess. The secondary ring also has a threaded bore, the thread of which matches the thread of the bore for the main ring.
