Abstract: A threaded fastener having a thread defined by a crest portion, a leading flank, a first root portion, a second root portion, and a trailing flank, configured to engage an externally threaded trapezoidal threadform. The thread may alternatively be defined by a foot portion, a leading flank, a first crest portion, a second crest portion, and a trailing flank, configured to engage an internally threaded trapezoidal threadform.
Abstract: A device including a transducer and a connection assembly in fixed relationship with the transducer, configured to transfer vibrational energy directly or indirectly, at least one of to or from, the transducer, wherein a first component of the connection assembly is actively held by positive retention to the device by a second component of the connection assembly.
Abstract: A pipe hanger method and apparatus wherein a bolt is threaded upwardly through a first opening within a lower arm portion of a saddle, then, in one form, through an opening in a liner, then through a larger opening in the upper arm portion of the saddle. The opening is non-cylindrical in shape. A nut is then installed on the bolt. The nut has a tapered end portion which interoperates with the shape of the opening in the upper arm of the saddle. The nut is hand-tightened and then is aligned with the opening so that the small end portion would drop into the opening. A wrench is then used on the head of the bolt to rotate the bolt for the purpose of drawing the nut and bolt together and applying a clamping force on a pipe positioned within the saddle. The liner extends along the inside of the bolt and then extends about the pipe, between it and the bight of the saddle, and then in one form extends along the inside of the upper arm portion.
Abstract: A wave thread form for threaded fasteners includes multiple thread pitches along a generally helical path, and includes multiple wave thread portions each deviating from a straight-line helical path, with adjacent wave thread portions along the helical path being separated by standard thread portions extending along the generally straight-line helical path.

Abstract: Underground drilling operation often requires connecting a drill tool (e.g., drill bit, backreamer, etc.) to a drill string. It is desirable to connect the drill tools to a drill string in a manner that facilitates quick and easy assembly and disassembly. Low torque coupling, commonly referred to as “torque-less” connection, can provide such functionality. The useful life and strength of such connections can be improved upon. The present disclosure provides a low torque coupling with improved strength and durability.

Abstract: A screw nut from a metal material, which comprises a tapped hole and an inner groove which radially extends in relation to the longitudinal axis thereof. An annular collar is formed onto one of the faces of the screw nut and its cross-section is bent in the direction of the axis to such a degree as to delimit, together with a section of the face surrounding the tapped hole as a contact surface, a receiving slot that is directly associated therewith.
Abstract: A self-locking threaded element that is used, for example, in a tool receptacle of a grinding tool. The self-locking threaded element comprises a retaining member (1) and a main part (3) axially disposed relative to the retaining member (1) at a distance (a) and connected with the retaining member (1) by a connection web (2). The main part (3) and the retaining member (1) are interspersed with a thread (4) for engaging a counter-thread. The retaining member (1) is displaceable relative to the main part (3), at least in the longitudinal direction (L) of the thread (4), to provide a self-locking threaded element that is inexpensive to manufacture and enables both simple tightening and loosening of the threaded element.
Abstract: A screw with a threaded shaft which has a slot running lengthwise dividing the threaded shaft into two shaft halves. A deformable mass is provided in the slot and fills the slot. This mass prevents the screw threaded into a threaded hole or application-related cored hole from loosening by itself.
Abstract: A torque nut for a mine roof or rock bolt intended for use with a multi-component, rapid curing resin that is mixed by rotation of the bolt through the torque nut includes a nut body having a threaded bore including threads of uniform lead and threads of progressively decreasing lead whereby the threads of decreasing lead create an interference between the nut threads and the bolt threads when the nut is threaded on the bolt to permit transmittal of a predetermined torque through the nut into the bolt to mix the resin in a bore hole associated with the bolt. The threads of decreasing lead in the torque nut are created by a coining process that does not affect the geometry of the threads other than the thread leads, which are affected in a progressive manner as the distance from the coined end of the nut increases.
Abstract: A prevailing torque type lock nut for assembly onto a threaded bolt that affords a substantially 360 degree break loose torque engagement resistance against the standard bolt threads and is comprised of a compressively controlled height reduction as compared to a standard nut of like size.
Abstract: The present invention provides a compliant nut that can provide a more consistent compressive force to engine components by using a compliant section to absorb axial deflections. The present invention also provides a self centering feature that positions the nut upon compression, reduces thread stresses and prevents nut and shaft runnout. The invention consists of an annular member having threads on the inner diameter for mating with a threaded shaft and having a conical portion extending axially and radially inward from the annular member for abutting engine components and the engine shaft. The nut includes a plurality of exciter teeth circumferentially disposed and extending radially from the annular member used to provide shaft speed signal for engine controls and a plurality of axial spline members extending axially from the annular member on the opposite face from conical section for mating with torque applying tools and locking mechanisms.
Abstract: This invention relates to an automated work center for use in materials handling operations. The work center includes a randomly accessible vertically moving temporary storage queue 11 for receiving containers 25 that hold material goods. A fixed loading ramp 20 is arranged to receive containers 20 from an external system and to load the received containers onto the storage queue 11. A work area 5 having a plurality of rotatable work tables 7 provides an gives the operator access to the containers. A delivery system 14 transfers containers between the storage queue 11 and the work tables 7 and a takeaway system 16 transfers containers between the work area and the conveyor network. An automated control system 17 coordinates the delivery of containers between the temporary storage queue 11 and the work area 5. A consolidation queue 18 having a multiplicity of vertically spaced shelfs may be disposed opposite the work tables 7 to facilitate the consolidation of ordered goods.

Abstract: A laminated nut comprising a plurality of conical spring discs or spring washers and a cage for receiving and holding the spring discs in a stacked, aligned relationship to define a central opening threaded to the matably received upon an associated threaded bolt, with the cage comprising a plurality of fingers nested within slots defined in the flats of the spring discs and including protrusion means at one axial end of the nut cage to preclude gripping of the nut by a wrenching tool at the one axial end and including a method of manufacturing the laminated nut.
Abstract: A fastener assembly, having a threaded male and female member, is disclosed. One of the members has substantially conventional threads and the other member has two threaded portions rotationally offset relative to one another. Direction of the offset determines whether a compressive or tensile preload force occurs in the assembled fastener. Magnitude of the preload force is controlled by the extent of the offset. One of the threaded portions includes at least two, preferably about four, tapered threads which permit gradual distribution of the preload force and thereby prevent plastic deformation of the threads. The assembled fastener is substantially vibration proof, and, due to the well controlled permanent preload force, is highly fatigue resistant.
Abstract: A swivel chair having a main screw connected to the chair seat and rotatably supported in a mounting assembly on the chair base enabling rotation of the seat relative to the base without varying the height of the seat. Height adjusting apparatus provides for the selective adjustment of the height of the chair seat and includes a nut member threadably mounted on the screw member. The nut member has a thread that is deformed into frictional engagement with the screw thread and when a seating load is applied to the nut member, the magnitude of the frictional resistance of the nut to turning on the screw is increased. As a result, rotation of the chair seat and the screw member will cause the nut member to rotate relative to the mounting assembly and remain fixed relative to the screw member to prevent an unintended varying of the height of the chair seat when it is rotated during use, while still enabling manual intended rotation of the nut when the chair height is to be adjusted.
Abstract: A two-piece rivet assembly comprising a shank member and a collar. The shank member includes a head, a cylindrical shank, and a helical thread with a substantially constant pitch, but with a crest diameter which decreases as it extends away from a maximum adjacent to its end farthest from the shank. The ring-like collar has an inner wall, an outer wall, and a first and a second end. The inner wall defines a passage between the ends to receive at least a portion of the thread. With the shank placed in an aperture in a workpiece with at least a portion of the thread projecting beyond a surface of the workpiece, the collar is placed over the thread and a swaging setting force is applied. This force applies both axial and radial components to the collar. This forces the collar against a surface of the workpiece and swages the wall into the thread at its maximum diameter and then continuously along the thread, exerting a tensile force on the shank member.
