  • Patent number: 11391312
Abstract: A joint exhibits high tensile strength. The joint includes a solid rod having a slit or opening into which a wedge is inserted. The rod and wedge are inserted into a fitting. Only a small amount of adhesive material is applied between the fitting and the rod. The adhesive material may be blended with non-adhesive, non-compressible “beads” that have a preferred diameter in order to insure that the desired adhesive thickness is achieved between the fitting and the rod. The internal surface of the fitting has a contour which continuously and nonlinearly varies with distance along the fitting. The wedge has a dimension having a similar contour. The shape of the contour can be described by a polynomial of order two or higher. The joint can be used to construct a sucker rod for an oil well, or it can be used in other applications. The joint can support high tensile loads, over long distances, while occupying a very narrow tubing bore.

  • Patent number: 10030380
Abstract: A concrete anchor has a body with cam surfaces. Each of the cam surfaces curves outward from a first edge to a second edge. The cam surfaces have a circumscribed outer diameter that increases in a downward direction. Jaws are retained around the body, each of the jaws having an inner side in engagement with one of the cam surfaces. Each of the jaws decreases in radial thickness in a downward direction. Cam ratchet teeth on each of the cam surfaces engage jaw ratchet teeth on the inner side of each of the jaws. The jaw ratchet teeth ratchet over the cam ratchet teeth as the body rotates in a first direction to move the jaws from a contracted position to an expanded position. The engagement of the cam and jaw ratchet teeth prevent rotation of the body relative to the jaws in the opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 9562558
Abstract: A blind fastener device for fastening workpieces, including a sleeve, an expander having a locking section and an expansion section, and a separate and distinct tensioning section configured to mechanically cooperate with the expander. One end of the tensioning section is configured as a tensioning section gripping region, which may be formed as the head of a bolt. • Patent number: 6048147
Abstract: A fixing clip is provided for fixing an attachment member to a panel having an attachment hole. The seal cap has a plurality of extensible pleats formed in respective places corresponding to the leg pieces of the grommet. When the leg pieces of the grommet spread and engage with the periphery of the attachment hole of the panel through the seal cap, the pleats of the seal cap stretch out to follow the spreading leg pieces, so that the seal cap can be deformed easily. Therefore, there is no fear of reducing the engagement force of the leg pieces with the periphery of the attachment hole of the panel.

  • Patent number: 4899431
Abstract: A tool for setting threaded anchors, having an elongated body with a longitudinal bore and a threaded shaft received in the bore and projecting beyond both ends of the body to form a nut engaging end and an anchor engaging end. The anchors to be set include an anchor frustum having a longitudinal threaded bore, surrounded by a soft sleeve. A pinway is formed in the body communicating with the bore, and a retaining pin, in engagement with the threaded shaft, projects laterally through the pinway, for preventing relative rotational motion between the threaded shaft and the body while allowing relative longitudinal motion. A nut engages with the nut engaging end of the shaft. The method of setting such an anchor is to insert the anchor, attached to the end of the tool, into a hole where the anchor is to be set. The nut is then rotated with respect to the shaft, while preventing the rotation of the shaft and the body, so as to draw the frustum into the soft sleeve until the anchor is affixed within the hole.

  • Patent number: 4481702
Abstract: An insert assembly includes a frustoconically shape cone nut (10), a cylindrical shell (20) and a bolt (36). The cone nut (10) has a longitudinal bore (12) which is tapped to accept the threads on the bolt. The shell (20) has projecting barbs (28) arranged in a helical pattern on the shell's outer surface. The assembly, comprising the bolt through the shell and threaded into the smaller diameter end of the nut cone, is driven into a bore in the work piece. The bolt is then rotated causing the cone nut to penetrate the shell resulting in radial expansion of the shell whereby the barbs become embedded in the work piece. A keying feature between the nut and the shell prevents nut rotation with the bolt.
