An inner end of the beverage discharging opening is delimited by a rotation guiding part which has a predetermined curvature to guide rotation of the body. The body has a straw insertion hole which is defined therein at a predetermined location to have a predetermined diameter in a manner such that a straw can be inserted therethrough.

Abstract: Sealant is applied onto or into a folded-seam closure of a metal can. Instead of introducing sealant into the U-shaped lid flange and drying, according to the invention the compound or sealant is applied to the base flange, the base of the metal can being dipped into a current of fluid sealant or at least brought into contact with it at the surface. This substantially improves the precision of dosing and the exact amount of applied sealant.

  • Patent number: 5938389
Abstract: A method of making a non-cylindrical shaped metal can that is provided with a stylized, irregular shape includes steps of forming a substantially cylindrical sidewall portion (12) that has a plurality of ribs integrated therein. These ribs provide additional strength to the sidewall portion. The cylindrical sidewall portion may then be shaped into a non-cylindrical, stylized shape. The ribs (26) are preferably positioned at portions of the shaped sidewall portion (12) that are anticipated to need increased strength in order to withstand deformation under pressure. The sidewall (12) is then assembled to at least one can end member (30) to form a completed shaped metal can (28). The ribs may either be arranged longitudinally, circumferentially, or both may be provided to form a grid structure.

  • Patent number: 5879120
Abstract: A method of seaming a circular cover panel (1) provided with a turnable pull ring (2) onto the body of a can. The cover panel comprises a circumferential score line (5) as close as possible to the rim portion (6) of said panel. The pull ring (2) on the cover panel used is mounted in a non-radial position on said cover panel (1) with the result that a clearance (a) is provided between the rim portion (6) of the cover panel and the nose (3) of the pull ring, and a clearance (b) is provided between the rim portion (6) of the cover panel and the handle part (2) of the pull ring. As a result, a closing chuck can be inserted in these clearances (a, b) during the seaming of the cover panel. In this manner the seaming operation is very simple and very rational because it is not necessary to use a particular closing chuck, and because the cover panel need not be angularly positioned on the seaming machine before the closing chuck and the cover panel are moved towards each other.

  • Patent number: 5037367
Abstract: In twin-chamber compressed gas packs, the collar of a diaphragm which invaginates during motion in the container is secured with its opening region in a fold or in the upper part of the container, in order to provide the required sealing between product chamber and working fluid chamber. The disadvantage of packs of this type is that the use of multipart containers is mandatory and/or that a support ring incorporated in the diaphragm produces a frictional force which may be large enough to prevent ejection of the feed material because of an insufficient pressure differential between the chambers. These drawbacks are overcome by securing the entire region of the collar to the internal wall of the casing.

  • Patent number: 4842468
Abstract: Can-like containers are frequently closed or sealed with a diaphragm, the wall of which is provided with severance points, or the part of which that is U-shaped in cross section (3) covering the cut edge (15) of the can wall (17) is already located at least partially at a distance (a) from the nearly dish-shaped closure part (14). The diaphragm (14) according to the present invention has severance points that are formed by narrow ligaments (4) interrupted by cut-outs (5), said ligaments being arranged alternatingly along a circumferential line in the rim (2) of the diaphragm. A diaphragm for the closing of can-like containers is e.g. fabricated in that the foil is deep-drawn, and in the end phase of the closing movement cut-outs (5) are formed in its rim (2) by shearing edges (8 and 11). At least one shearing edge (8) is interrupted by notches (9), in the area of which ligaments (4) remain.

  • Patent number: 4447184
Abstract: A heatable sealing head comprises a resiliently yielding pressure element and has at least one cup spring. The pressure element serves to transmit pressure and heat to a closure lid insertable between the sealing head and the rim of a container, this lid to be deformed about portions of the container rim. In the relaxed normal position, the sealing head includes a conical contact surface for the closure lid. The contact surface can be resiliently bent back against the pressure of the rim of the container mouth. The metallic closure lid is provided with thermoplastic material on the side facing the container rim. For the purpose of improving the fixing of the closure lid to the container rim, the contact surface of the pressure element projects increasingly radially inward starting from the sealing head.
