Applying Sealant Patents (Class 413/7)
  • Patent number: 11583912
Abstract: A connection rod coupling assembly includes a settable shape mounting second component having a lateral, primary axis and a bearing assembly including a bearing assembly body. The bearing assembly body includes a substantially cylindrical outer surface and a center axis. The bearing assembly body is coupled to the settable shape mounting second component in a non-aligned configuration. That is, the bearing assembly body center axis is offset from the settable shape mounting second component primary axis. Thus, the position of the bearing assembly body center axis is adjustable by repositioning the settable shape mounting second component relative to a settable shape mounting first component on a swing lever. The adjustment of the bearing assembly body, in turn, adjusts the range of the ram assembly and the ram assembly body.

Abstract: A can for packaging food, comprising a metal can body and a diaphragm lid (16) formed of lidding material which comprises a multilayer structure with at least an aluminum layer of from 6 to 90 microns thickness and a bond layer for fixing the lid (16) directly to the can body. One method for forming the can forms the lidding material by using an outwardly extending curl (20) at one end of the metal can body as the draw die. Lidding material which is carried by the body maker punch is drawn around the curl of the can body draw die so as to form the lidding material into a cup shape.

  • Patent number: 5947673
Abstract: An improvement in the shape of a fold in a tin can allows the use of sheet metal of lower gauge than that currently used. This is achieved with a fold geometry on a tin can which is closed off with a double fold, such as for a drink or food tin; by providing a continuous or stepped contour on the fold side; and by insuring that the lid hook is clearly in area-contact (positive fit) on its outer side with the free end of the body hook in its lower third. The invention may be applied to standard-gauge as well as thinner-gauge sheet metal, and generally results in a better seal.

  • Patent number: 5016785
Abstract: An apparatus and method is disclosed for an improved mounting cup for sealing with a container of an aerosol device. The container includes an annular bead extending about an opening in the container with the annular bead defining an internal surface contour having a generally partially circular cross-section. A mounting cup comprising a peripheral rim is formed for sealing with the annular bead of the container. The peripheral rim has an inner region contour substantially different in shape from the inner surface contour of the annular bead of the container. The peripheral rim is void of an outer region contour in contrast to a conventional mounting cup. The inner region contour of the peripheral rim engages with the inner surface contour of the annular bead to allow only a portion of the peripheral rim of the mounting cup to contact the annular bead of the container when the mounting cup is disposed on the container.

Abstract: A reusable industrial drum is formed by temporarily joining the periphery of the end closure to the rim of the cylindrical shell by curling to produce a spiral seam. The outermost layer of the seam, consisting of a portion of the end closure, is cut to permit the end closure element and shell to be separated and disassembled. Further processing operations may take place on the closure element and shell separately. The closure element is thereafter re-mated with the shell, a seam sealant having previously been introduced between the parts, and a locking ring such as a bolt or chime ring is placed over the reassembled seam. The locking ring surrounds the periphery of the seam to hold the seam together. After use, the drum can be readily disassembled for reprocesing and reuse by simply removing the bolt or chime ring.
