Vehicle Attached Auxiliary Carriers Patents (Class 414/462)
  • Patent number: 8382142
Abstract: A trailer which is sized to be towed behind a motorcycle. The trailer includes a cargo bay for storing luggage, spare parts, tools or other cargo. The trailer is preferably towed behind a motorcycle in a group of motorcycles. In the unfortunate event that one of the motorcycles breaks down or a rider is unable to continue operating his or her motorcycle, the cargo bay can be converted to a towing configuration for towing the disabled motorcycle. This allows the group of motorcycles to continue riding, and the disabled motorcycle can be towed to a repair location at a more convenient time for the entire group of riders.

  • Patent number: 8366373
Abstract: A fully collapsible lightweight mount to support a cargo loading apparatus. The mount has releasably attached horizontal and vertical arms, with a bracket to adjustably attach a cargo loading device on the vertical arm. In one embodiment, the horizontal arms have brackets configured to attach to “stake holes” in the standard side walls of a pickup truck cargo bed. The vertical arm of the device may be further supported against for example, a cargo bed forward wall or floor by a floor brace. Alternatively horizontal arm may attach to a pickup truck trailer hitch by additional mounts and connecting arm components suitable for attachment to a class 3 trailer hitch. The component parts can be readily assembled and disassembled, are lightweight, and occupy little space. The disassembled device can be stored in a carrying bag in the cab or other compartment of a vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20120321420
Abstract: A vehicle carrier assembly adapted to be mounted to the rear of a recreational vehicle which is designed to carry and transport a secondary vehicle. The carrier assembly includes a lift system which includes a pivoting subassembly combined with a deployable ramp. The ramp extends from the pivoted subassembly at an angle until it reaches the ground. The ramp extends from the pivoted subassembly in a direction perpendicular the longitudinal axis of the recreational vehicle. The secondary vehicle would then drive onto the angled ramp. The ramp is then retracted back to its first position, atop the pivoting subassembly. The pivoting subassembly is then pivoted back from its deployed angular position back to an original horizontal position. The secondary vehicle is secured to the vehicle carrier. The recreational vehicle is now ready to travel with an easily mountable and demountable secondary vehicle aboard.

  • Patent number: 8327979
Abstract: A portable, non-motorized automatic lift and transport apparatus allows users to lift and transport a small, powered vehicle with minimal physical exertion and without the need for secondary power source. The apparatus is comprised of a base and platform connected to a gear housing. The gear housing telescopically engages and moves vertically within a vehicle mount via a gear system. The drive wheels of the small, powered vehicle to be transported power the gear system attached to the gear housing to rotate the gear system and subsequently lift the to-be-transported vehicle using its own power source. A storage position is provided that can be used without disengaging a transmission.

  • Patent number: 8322580
Abstract: The present invention is a retractable cargo carrying device that can be mounted on the top of a trailer such as a horse trailer. The device is provided underneath with a telescoping rail system that secures to the top of the trailer and to a storage box of the device. This telescoping rail system allows the storage box to be lowered near to the ground so that items can be easily placed in the storage box from the ground. Once the storage box is loaded, it can then be retracted back onto the top of the trailer for transport. The storage box has a pivoting attachment to the telescoping rail system that maintains the storage box in a level position at all times, even when lowering and retracting the box relative to the trailer.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to an attachment for extending the cargo carrying length of a vehicle comprising a base frame having at least one swiveling wheel. A hitch assembly is mounted to the front end of the base frame. A bed for carrying cargo is integrated with the base frame. The bed includes a translation frame coupled with a pivot frame. The pivot frame has front and back pivot ends and a pivot axis. The pivot axis of the pivot frame is parallel to and approximately midway between the front and back pivot frame ends. The pivot frame engages the base frame along the pivot axis. A translation mechanism is connected between the pivot frame and the translation frame for translating the translation frame relative to the pivot frame. A pivot mechanism is connected between the base frame and the pivot frame for pivoting the pivot frame around the pivot axis in order to lower the back end of the translation frame to the ground.

Abstract: A boat trailer guide system for effectively launching and retrieving a boat. The system comprises a guide frame that can be removably attached to a boat trailer. The guide frame comprises two guide rails that are horizontally and vertically symmetrical. Each guide rail has a first end and a second end. The first ends of the guide rails converge and are attached to the trailer frame through the previously mentioned upright structure on the “bow” end of the trailer. The second ends diverge in the direction of the “stern” end of the trailer. The lengths of the two guide rails are such that the second ends extend toward the vicinity of the trailer wheels, or even extend past the trailer wheels to the stern end of the trailer frame. The guide rails are preferably curved symmetrically both vertically and horizontally such that they match the general contour of the hull of the trailed boat.
