Specific Backing Member For Flexible Wall Patents (Class 417/477.9)
  • Patent number: 6494693
Abstract: An improved peristaltic pump using a pumptube comprising a single tube of a relatively rigid and hard fluoroplastic material, preferably relatively rigid and hard polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), and a roller strap located between the pressure rollers of the peristaltic pump and the pumptube, is provided. The roller strap prevents direct contact between the pressure rollers of the peristaltic pump and the pumping section of the pumptube. The pumping section of the pumptube is formed or shaped into a flattened, oval-like shape which approximately conforms to the pumptube passageway in the peristaltic pump. The pressure rollers contact the roller strap and then compress the flattened side of the pumptube and, thereby, effecting transport or pumping of the fluid. The use of the strap prevents excessive tube expansion at the output back-pressure, thereby increasing the lifetime of the pumptube.

Abstract: Inverted peristaltic pumps and related apparatus/methods wherein one or more compressible pump tubes are formed or mounted on a core member and one or more tube compressing members move about the core member so as to compress the tube(s) and propel a fluid through the tube(s). The core member may be removable and the pump tube(s) may be pre-mounted on the core member to form a disposable or reusable tubing cartridge. The core member or tubing cartridge may be easily inserted into and removed from the pump. In some embodiments troughs or grooves may be formed on the core member and the tube(s) may be disposed in such troughs or grooves.

  • Patent number: 6419466
Abstract: A peristaltic pump for pumping a liquid, such as a juice concentrate, includes a rotor assembly attached to a housing, a band attached to the housing and surrounding at least a portion of the rotor assembly A tube is positionable between the band and the rotor assembly. The position of the band can be adjusted relative to the rotor assembly to adjust the pressure applied to the tube by the band and the rotor assembly. The rotor assembly includes rollers therein for pumping concentrate from a reservoir by drawing a vacuum.

  • Publication number: 20020064470
Abstract: A peristaltic fluid pump having a suction side and a pumping side. The pump includes a pump housing having a mainly arcuate support surface, a flexible tube extending along this surface, a rotor having two opposite rollers for during operation rolling over the flexible tube along an entrance section where the tube is successively compressed, a pumping section extending across an angle of an arc of less than 180°, and an exit section where the compression successively ends, and a motor for during operation making the rotor rotate. The arcuate support surface is shaped in such a way that the rearmost and foremost rollers do not operate in synchronous phase opposition during their passage of the entrance and exit section. The peristaltic fluid pump is capable of pumping a fluid with less pressure difference and compressive pulsations in the fluid than previously known, making it especially suitable for pumping a patient's blood through a dialyzer.

  • Patent number: 6203296
Abstract: A miniature peristaltic pump includes a rotor with three turning rollers, a support piece with a rounded portion arranged substantially concentric to the rotor and against which, when operating, the rollers are brought to compress a flexible tubing connected to a reservoir of solution to push it outwards and for automatically compensating positional deviations between the roller and the support piece. Each roller has a substantially cylindrical body and a shaft on which the body is rotatably mounted. The ends of the roller shafts are located in oblong slots radially recessed in the rotor. The compensating device includes two springs arranged at the respective ends of the shafts and have a central port concentric to the rotor and three curved spring arms, one for each roller, with one end connected to the central part and the other end bearing on the corresponding end of a roller shaft to push it outwards and thus enable it to exert a substantially constant force of pressure.

  • Patent number: 6186752
Abstract: A pump module includes a peristaltic pump having a pump rotor, a drive mechanism to rotate the rotor, and a tubing clamp adjacent to and separate from the peristaltic pump. A cover is movable between a closed position on the pump module, enclosing both the pump rotor and the tubing clamp, and an opened position spaced from the pump module, exposing both the pump rotor and the tubing clamp. The cover carries a tubing organizer, which holds tubing. The tubing organizer serves, as the cover moves toward the closed position, to orient the tubing in a desired way with the pump rotor and tubing clamp. The tubing organizer also serves, as the cover moves toward the opened position, to orient the tubing away from the pump module.
