  • Patent number: 10465681
Abstract: A pump comprises a housing, with an interior defining a rotor path, an inlet formed in the housing at a first position on said rotor path, an outlet formed in the housing at a second position on said rotor path spaced from said first position. A rotor is rotatable in the housing with a first surface that seals against the housing. A second surface is formed on said rotor circumferentially spaced from said first surface and forms a chamber that travels around said rotor path to convey fluid from the inlet to the outlet. A resilient seal formed with the housing is located on the rotor path to prevent fluid flow from said outlet to said inlet past the seal. A passage may be provided to supply fluid to an under surface of the seal at a pressure that acts to urge the seal against the rotor.

Abstract: A microfluidic pump composed of a cylindrical chamber, transfer ports having an inlet port and an outlet port positioned on the cylindrical chamber, a magnet member attached outside the cylindrical chamber, a magnetic piston in sliding communication with an inner wall of the cylindrical chamber, a magnetic material, and a valve member. The magnetic material self assembles to form a seal plug separating the inlet and outlet port, where the seal plug forms a link between the magnet member and the magnetic piston to rotate the magnetic piston along the inner wall of the cylindrical chamber, where a working fluid suctioned within the cylindrical chamber is discharged at the outlet port during a movement of the magnetic piston from the inlet to outlet port. Abstract: Tube roller pumps for blood treatment devices are disclosed. The pumps include a curved surface with a rotor rotatable therein. The rotor attaches via a reception means to a drive shaft of the pump. The rotor has a first locking element for axially locking the rotor on the shaft and a second locking element for rotationally coupling the shaft and the rotor. The reception means and the drive shaft guide the rotor to a position on the shaft, when pushed onto the shaft, and, at this position, the first element may be moved by the shaft from locked to released. The rotor, when pushed further onto the shaft, is moved to another position at which the first element is automatically moved back to locked and the second element may be brought into manual engagement with the shaft to transmit torque from the shaft to the rotor.

Abstract: A pump for pumping fluid using peristaltic compression. The pump includes a rotor and a roller. The rotor includes a first cam that extends along a circumferential direction relative to the rotor. The first cam has first and second dwells. The roller is movable relative to the rotor between the first dwell and the second dwell of the first cam as the rotor rotates in a first direction and a second direction. The rotor includes a second cam extending radially from its shaft for engaging the roller. Contact between the second cam and the roller increases frictional resistance between the rotor and the roller as the roller translates between the first and second dwells of the first cam such that the roller transitions between the first and second dwells without slipping.

Abstract: The invention relates to the field of fluid pumps and medical treatment devices, in particular dialysis machines. The object of the invention is to design methods and devices such that the operating pressures and flow rates of the fluid pumps assume the desired characteristics, in particular constant values or controlled profiles. This object is achieved in that the operating point of a peristaltic hose roller pump is adjusted based on the angle of rotation of the pump rotor or by adjusting the operating point of a centrifugal pump in accordance with a profile.

Abstract: A peristaltic pump, and related system method are provided. The peristaltic pump includes a cam shaft, first and second pinch-valve cams, first and second pinch-valve cam followers, a plunger cam, a plunger-cam follower, a tube receiver, and a spring-biased plunger. The first and second pinch-valve cams are coupled to the cam shaft. The first and second pinch-valve cam followers each engage the first and second pinch-valve cams, respectively. The plunger cam is coupled to the cam shaft. The plunger-cam follower engages the plunger cam. The tube receiver is configured to receive a tube. The spring-biased plunger is coupled to the plunger-cam follower such that the expansion of the plunger cam along a radial angle intersecting the plunger-cam follower as the cam shaft rotates pushes the plunger cam follower towards the plunger and thereby disengages the spring-biased plunger from the tube. A spring coupled to the spring-biased plunger biases the spring-biased plunger to apply the crushing force to the tube.
