  • Patent number: 8601734
Abstract: A pivoting firearm handgrip allows a user to pivot the handgrip relative to the firearm into various locked positions. The pivoting handgrip includes a grip base and a grip body that are selectively locked together by a spring biased shaft having key formations. The key formations on the shaft engage keyway formations on finger structures of the grip body. The key structures of the shaft also selectively engage locking formations on supporting structures on the grip base. A spring is captured between the head portion of the shaft and the grip body so that the key formations of the shaft are spring biased to engage the locking formations of the grip base. In use, a user depresses one end of the shaft to disengage the key formations of the shaft from the locking formations of the grip base, and then freely pivots the grip body about the base.

  • Patent number: 8434252
Abstract: A recoil absorption system for a long gun is provided that includes at least one fluid-filled piston shock attached between the body of the rifle and the stock to provide a damped connection between the two. When large caliber rounds are fired, the shocks are permitted to compress, so that the buffer tube is correspondingly permitted to travel rearward within the buffer tube bore of the stock. The stocks detent pin is normally captured within a slot on the buffer tube, such that the long gun recoil causes the buffer tube slot to move relative to the pin, the pin restricts the buffer tube movement and compression of the shocks to the length of the slot. In this way, the recoil energy of large caliber rounds is effectively absorbed, providing a more comfortable and accurate shooting experience.

Abstract: An adjustable buttstock assembly for a hand carried weapons, wherein an inner stock extends from and slidably moves into an outer stock to provide the length adjustment and where a set of opposed spring loaded engagement pins, located in the end of the inner stock, extend through a set of discrete, opposed openings in the outer stock to securely hold the stocks in position one relative to the other. One of the engagement pins, engages into one of a series of discrete holes located in the lower side of the outer stock, while the other engages into one of a series of partial oval opening, opposed thereto, the series of partial oval openings located on the upper side of the outer stock separated by flat teeth, to form a rack, with each partial oval opening into an open channel running the length of the rack.

Abstract: A cheek support apparatus comprising a generally inverted U-shaped shell member, a base member, and a cheek supporting member is provided for a firearm. The shell member made of a form fitting material, for example, a thermoplastic material, is selectively configured with different coefficients of friction to enable rigid contact of the shell member to a stock of the firearm. The shell member comprising an inner frictional surface defines an opening for accommodating the stock of the firearm. The base member is rigidly attached to a closed upper end of the shell member. In an embodiment, one or more shim members are removably attached on the base member for adjustably positioning the cheek supporting member on the base member. The cheek supporting member is removably attached on one or more of the shim members or the base member for supporting a user's cheek, for example, during recoil of the firearm.

Abstract: A cheek riser mechanism has a mounting base or saddle that is adapted for mounting to a gun-stock and defines guide rail members. A movable cheek riser member has guide grooves that receive the guide rail members and is linearly movable along the length of the guide rails. Upon rearward movement of the charging handle of an AR15 type rifle the movable cheek riser can be engaged and moved rearwardly by the user's hand or by the charging handle so that it does not interfere with a cartridge charging operation. A riser spring is compressed during rearward movement of the cheek riser and returns the movable cheek riser to its use position upon release of the charging handle.

Abstract: A firearm may have a plurality of power-consuming accessories that can be attached to the weapon. In order to reduce the weight of these power-consuming accessories, as well as the proliferation of their batteries, the Weapon Accessory Power Distribution System provides a common power source to power the power-consuming accessories attached to the weapon. One or more powered rails are provided to provide a point of electrical interconnection for the power-consuming accessories, absent the use of connectors with their tethering cables, which are susceptible to entanglement. The powered rail(s) are electrically interconnected with a power source, which typically is a battery mounted in the butt stock of the weapon.
