Abstract: A muzzle brake apparatus comprises a main body having a central bore and a plurality of peripheral bores about the central bore, the central bore extending a flow path for a projectile from a barrel of a firearm and an exit for the projectile and a brake backing plate coupled to the main body, the brake backing plate constructed and arranged for coupling to a distal end of the barrel of the firearm, the brake backing plate including an air chamber that provides an interior volume for receiving a flow of gas in the flow path of the barrel, wherein the peripheral bores output a first portion of gas from the firearm, and wherein a second portion of the gas is returned to the barrel from the air chamber.

The disclosure realizes the quick installation and disassembly. The whole installation process does not need to use other tools such as wrenches, and the installation is firm; the adjusting handle is arranged on the side wall of the bottom box, which is convenient for users to operate.

Abstract: A method of removing a trigger assembly from a firearm includes placing a projection of a pin removal tool against a first end of a trigger pin of a firearm. The projection of the pin removal tool extends from a first end of a handle of the pin removal tool. The projection is then pushed against the pin so as to cause the pin to partially unseat from its position within the firearm. The pin removal tool is then turned around and the head is engaged to the pin between the first end and a second end thereof via a notch of the head. The pin removal tool is pulled so that the trigger pin is removed from the firearm so as to release a trigger assembly which is at least partially held within the firearm by the trigger pin.

Abstract: A hinge joint includes first and second hinge leaves pivotably mounted on a hinge pin, where the hinge joint is operable between open and closed positions. The hinge joint has a locking mechanism that prevents opening the hinge joint from a closed position until the locking mechanism is moved to the unlocked position. In one example, the locking mechanism includes a plunger retained in the hinge pin. When the plunger is depressed, one or more protrusions can move from a blocking position to a non-blocking position. In some embodiments, the locking mechanism must be moved to the unlocked position prior to opening the hinge joint. The locking mechanism may be used alone or in combination with engagement structures between the first and second hinge leaves. The hinge joint can be part of a folding rifle stock assembly or other hinged assembly.

Abstract: A training cartridge for use in firearm malfunction training is disclosed. The training cartridge is used in a firearm including a clip or magazine to prevent conventional ammunition cartridges from being properly fed into the firing chamber of the firearm. The training cartridge includes a generally cylindrical body, a skirt portion extending outwardly relative to an outer surface of the body, an annular rim spaced from a lower surface of the skirt that is oriented toward the rim such that an annular recess is formed between the lower surface of the skirt and the rim. A feed malfunction is induced when a conventional ammunition cartridge, as it is fed into the firing chamber, is snagged by the adjacent training cartridge.

Abstract: A sight magnifier assembly is configured to be releasably secured to a rail feature of a firearm to be used with a sight assembly to enhance a downrange image. The sight magnifier assembly includes a base configured to be releasably secured to the rail feature of the firearm and a housing rotatably coupled to the base. The housing is configured to support sight optics used to enhance or improve the downrange image. The assembly further includes a mechanism configured to enable the rotation the housing with respect to the base between a use position in which the sight optics is configured to be used with the sight assembly and a stored position in which the sight optics is moved so that the housing and the sight magnifier assembly is nearly completely obscured from the operator by the sight assembly as viewed along a longitudinal axis.

Abstract: A locking mechanism for securely attaching an accessory mount to a firearm having a Picatinny/Weaver mounting rail. The locking mechanism includes a resiliently biased slider jam that is received within a transverse groove of the Picatinny/Weaver rail. A clip is provided to clamp the accessory mount to the rail by a locking screw. A locking screw spring may urge the clip away from a tight engagement with the rail when the locking screw is in a loosened condition. The locking mechanism is adaptable to all Picatinny/Weaver rails and provides a rock solid firearm accessory mounting system.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for limiting the amount of rotation of a upper assembly in relation to a sub-assembly is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a pin corresponding to a pinhole of a sub-assembly of a firearm. A bumper is coupled to the pin by a connector. When the pin is placed in the pinhole, the bumper will prevent full rotation of the upper in relation to the sub-assembly while allowing some separation. The method comprises replacing a front pin of a firearm with a pin such that bumper abuts the upper and the sub-assembly when the upper is rotated about the pin. When the upper is rotated, the magazine is removed.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an Improved Ballistic Chain Cutting Device. In general, the device positions a target link from a multi-link chain in the proper placement for a single shot from a firearm to cut or sever the target link. Embodiments of the improved device include a specially designed slot with stepped sidewalls creating a varying width to tightly receive the target link, a curved adjacent link engagement region to better accommodate the semicircular end of a link adjacent the target link, and a curved target link engagement region to better secure the target link within the device.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method and apparatus for replacing a selector switch of lower receiver of a firearm, the method including the steps of: removing an ancillary portion of the selector switch; inserting a sear spring and sear deflector block into the lower receiver such that a hook portion and an end portion of the sear spring engage a sear and a portion of a sear spring to cause the sear and the portion of a sear spring to be disengaged from the selector switch; inserting a detent deflector button into a side of the lower receiver such a spring biased detent is depressed and the selector switch extends from an opposite side of the lower receiver; removing the selector switch; inserting a new selector switch into the opposite side of the lower receiver such that the detent deflector button is dislodged from the side of the lower receiver; removing the sear spring and sear deflector block; and securing the removing the ancillary portion or a new ancillary portion to the new selector switch.

A narrow pin body portion, for example, a recessed side surface portion or a narrow flange, cooperates with the pin hole and/or a slot in an upper receiver rear knuckle. Rotating the pin may locate the recess or flange to make room between the pin and the inner surface(s) of the upper receiver pin hole so the upper receiver can pivot slightly open from the lower receiver. A slot at the bottom of the rear knuckle hole may receive a flange of the takedown pin.

Abstract: In an accessory mount mechanism being releasably and adjustably assembled to the accessory mount rail of a firearm a lever-actuated clamping mechanism employs an upwardly facing clamping force adjustment member that is manually adjustable by the firearm user without the use of tools of any kind. A locking lever is pivotally mounted to a lateral platform of a mount base by means of an integral spindle shaft that projects upwardly from a cam plate that is fixed to the locking lever. The spindle shaft defines a non-circular section that is engaged by a corresponding non-circular drive receptacle of a drive washer member that is urged upwardly within an insert member of the mount base by a spring member. A manually actuated adjustment member is threaded to the spindle shaft and faces upwardly for ease of visual location and manual rotation by the user of the firearm.

In a first embodiment, the center mounted embodiment is preferred. The presented device includes a mounting clamp assembly, mounting rod and pivoting deflector. The deflector can be pivoted to permit the ejection pattern desired by the rifleman. In a second embodiment, the side mounted assembly, the mounting clamp assembly is attached to the right hand side rail of the forearm and barrel assembly. In the third embodiment, rear mounted assembly, the clamp mounting assembly is installed at the rear of the upper receiver rail. In a fourth embodiment, forward mounted assembly, the mounting clamp assembly is mounted on the forearm upper accessory mounting rail. All embodiments described herein apply to a left-handed version of the rifle.

Abstract: A handguard assembly for a firearm includes a handguard with an internal clamping area. A single-piece index block includes a securing portion for connecting to the handguard and an indexing extension for engaging an indexing feature on the upper receiver of the firearm. The handguard includes internal ribs that provide discrete clamping surfaces for engaging a barrel nut of the firearm. Connecting the index block to the handguard generates a continuous clamping action in the handguard which acts through the ribs to apply a radially-directed circumferentially-applied clamping force on a barrel nut through the discrete clamping surfaces. The indexing feature of the index block engages an indexing feature of the upper receiver to ensure proper alignment of the handguard and the upper receiver.

Abstract: A variety of apparatuses and associated methods are provided for providing a retractable suppressor system for gas generator systems such as a firearm. One embodiment includes a suppressor system that includes a retractable structure and housing, a fixed baffle, floating baffles, and springs to displace the floating baffles within the suppressor as the suppressor is extended from the housing along a gas generator system, e.g. a barrel of a firearm and thereby enclose the barrel within the suppressor. Embodiments of the invention permit full retraction, partial retraction/extension, or full extension of an exemplary suppressor with respect to an emission section of the gas generator e.g., firearm muzzle. Embodiments of the invention include an external latch which enables an operator to latch or unlatch the suppressor as it moves from one position to another and prevents accidental activation. Embodiments of the invention are configured to operate with accessory mounting systems.

To ensure flexible and accurate mounting of the weapon accessory parts, a fastening element for detachably attaching the main body to a front stock of the handheld firearm is disposed on the main body.

Abstract: A system and method for a user's appendages when firing a weapon is described. One embodiment includes a cover kit for a firearm handguard. The kit has a base and an insert. The base has a longitudinal axis, an upright axis, a transverse axis, a socket, an exterior surface, and an interior surface. The insert has an insert body and a plug. The socket has a movable engagement prong shaped to engage a wall surface of a handguard slot. The plug has a prong engagement surface shaped to engage the engagement prong. The plug is shaped to apply a force on the engagement prong such that a distal portion of the engagement prong is flexed more than a proximal portion of the engagement prong.
