Abstract: A forward pistol mount for mounting a pistol to a rifle. The forward pistol mount has an external mount structure that attaches to the lower tactical rail of the rifle. The pistol is attached to an internal mount structure of the forward pistol mount. The internal mount structure is positioned within the external mount structure and clamps around the lower tactical rail of the pistol. A securing mechanism that can be positioned on either side of the forward pistol mount allows for the quick release or insertion of the pistol within the internal mount structure. The present invention allows the pistol to provide the same grip as a pistol grip accessory but with the actual firing power of a gun, thus allowing for zero transition time between weapons.

Abstract: A system for coupling a red dot sight to a handgun is provided. The system may include a mounting unit made from a single piece of material. The piece may include a male dovetail and a longitudinal rail thereon. The male dovetail may be disposed in a female dovetail of a rear sight portion of the handgun. The longitudinal rail may be configured to receive the red dot sight. The longitudinal rail may define a plurality of lateral slots on the top of the longitudinal rail, and a longitudinal slot extending across the entirety of, and laterally centered on, the top of the longitudinal length of the longitudinal rail. Two visual markers may be located on the back of the longitudinal rail, to the left and right of the longitudinal slot. A tapped aperture may extend through the male dovetail, and a set screw may be disposed therein.

  • Patent number: 8516735
Abstract: A mechanism for adjusting the zoom of a firearm scope includes an elongated, generally cylindrical body which may be formed integral with or as a separate component for attaching to the zoom ring. A plurality of annularly spaced openings or fins are formed on the body and extend between the proximal (close to the shooter) and distal ends thereof. The length of the body is such that at least one of the openings or fins is always present adjacent the thumb rest area of the firearm (e.g., rifle) handle. As such, a shooter need only move their trigger hand thumb to reach and engage an opening or fin to rotate the body which causes simultaneous rotation of the zoom ring.

  • Patent number: 8520895
Abstract: A system and method calculate a range and velocity of an object in image data. The range calculation includes detecting a contour of the object from the image data, forming a template from the image data based on the contour; and calculating a range to the object using pixel resolution and dimension statistics of the object. A three-dimensional velocity of the object is determined by calculating a radial component and an angular component of the velocity. The radial velocity component is calculated by determining the range of the object in two or more image frames, determining a time differential between the two or more image frames, and calculating the radial velocity as a function of the range of the object in the two or more image frames and the time differential between the two or more image frames. The angular component is calculated using spatial-temporal derivatives as a function of a motion constraint equation.

Abstract: An assembly for mounting on a standard mounting platform, such as a Picatinny-type rail, the assembly provides engaged contact between the rail and the surfaces of a base and a clamp. The clamp is rotatably attached to a base, allowing a user to quickly shift the assembly between a rail-engaging position and a disengaged position. The base also preferably contains a locking mechanism that allows a user to lock the assembly in a rail-engaging position. The assembly is particularly useful for the mounting of accessories, such as scopes and sights, onto Picatinny-type rails that are affixed to firearms.

Abstract: A firearm receiver apparatus comprises a receiver body and a light emitting device. The receiver body includes a bolt carrier bore and a cartridge ejection port. The bolt carrier bore extends between first and second end portions of the receiver body. The cartridge ejection port extends through a sidewall of the receiver body and intersects the bolt carrier bore. The light emitting device is attached to the sidewall in a manner for causing at least a portion of a beam of light emitted therefrom to be directed through the cartridge ejection port into the bolt carrier bore.

  • Patent number: 8499676
Abstract: A coupling system attaches a device such as a blank adaptor or a sound suppressor to the flash hider of a firearm. The device is slid over the flash hider until a set of flat surfaces on it are aligned with a set of holes in the device. Camming latches are held in the holes in the device. The collar carried by the device is then threadably advanced to a locking position with respect to the device where it presses the camming latches into secure engagement with the flat surfaces on the flash hider. Unthreading the collar to the unlocked position allows the camming latches to be moved radially when the device is to be removed or rotated. A spring lock prevents the collar from rotating during use, particularly during firing of the firearm but may be released to rotate the collar between locked and unlocked positions.
