  • Patent number: 8506886
Abstract: In order to disinfect and to detoxify a fluid, a photoreactor contains at least two light sources. One light source activates the catalytic function of a semiconductor material in the fluid to reduce the concentration of contaminants in the fluid, such as by breaking down organic contaminants into non-toxic compounds. A second light source acts directly on living biological entities to sterilize or kill them and thereby disinfect the fluid, and can also serve to activate a semiconductor photocatalyst that in turn causes further damage to biological contaminants. The semiconductor photocatalyst is desirably attached to an optically transmitting fiber substrate in the fluid. The second light source in one embodiment is external to the fluid and illuminates the photocatalyst through transmitting surfaces in a fluid containment vessel. The light sources can comprise respective sets of plural LEDs.

Abstract: A device for generating chlorine dioxide includes a cartridge having a chemical-holding space, in which a granular chlorite is held, a fan, and ultraviolet LED lamps disposed within a device main body, which can be separated into two or more detachable portions. The cartridge has light-transmitting properties and has a structure, which enables air to pass through the chemical-holding space and the inside of the device main body. When the fan is in operation, air is discharged from the inside of the device main body and, simultaneously therewith, air comes in from the outside of the device main body. By the action of ultraviolet rays, chlorine dioxide gas is generated from the chlorite present in the cartridge. By the operation of the fan, the gas is discharged from the inside of the device main body through air discharge ports.

Abstract: A disinfecting apparatus comprises a housing, an ultraviolet (UV) light, and a dispensing mechanism. The housing is designed to receive contaminated pens and dispense disinfected pens. The UV light comprises a UVC cold cathode light bulb housed integrally within the housing and an AC power connector. In a preferred embodiment the AC power connector further comprises an ON/OFF switch which controls the UV light bulb. The dispensing means comprises a means of re-obtaining a pen from the housing for subsequent use. Between uses, the pens are immersed in the light of the UV light bulb which helps to kill bacteria and germs associated with illnesses commonly contracted in such public places.

  • Patent number: 8349253
Abstract: A product package is provided for containing a product or object. The package contains a first agent that is energizably convertible by an energy source to a sanitizing agent including ozone in the package. The sanitizing agent including ozone in the package is transferred to the product or object while in the package. The first agent can include oxygen. The oxygen converts to ozone after being energized by ultraviolet radiation energy inside the package. The ultraviolet radiation energy can be radiated from outside the package, through the package, and into the package to energizably convert the oxygen to ozone in the package. The product or object in the package can be treated with the sanitizing agent including ozone in the package to provide a sanitizing, disinfecting, or sterilizing treatment, in the package.

Abstract: Superior hydroxyls are provided which have effects on organic and inorganic compounds and/or pollutants over substantial periods of time and/or at substantial distances from where the superior hydroxyls are generated. Also provided is a hydroxyl generator, in which UV-lamps are positioned such that the coronas which they produce when emitting UV-radiation fill substantially all of the interior space of the hydroxyl generator. The coronas overlap each other by a maximum amount of between 5% and 25% of the radius of each corona.

Abstract: A method for energizing water and other liquids is described. It is based on previous studies showing the use of ultraviolet (UV) light illuminated of alcohol containing neutral red dye as a means of activating the alternative cellular energy (ACE) pathway. Rather than directly activating the patient, the method's ACE pathway, it is used to activate water and liquids for drinking by the patients. Once activated, a liquid can further activate a larger volume of liquid by simply being added to the larger volume of liquid. The methods should find widespread application in human, animal, agricultural and industrial uses of water and other liquids.
