Abstract: A method is disclosed for application of compositions onto non-woven webs, such as paper webs. The present invention is also directed to products made from the process. In general, the method includes applying a composition to a non-woven web using a non-impact printer, such as an ink jet printer. The composition is applied, in one embodiment, as droplets that remain as discrete shapes on the substrate. In this manner, treated areas and untreated areas are formed on the web. Through this process, the water absorption and control properties of the web can be adjusted as desired while simultaneously treating the web with a composition that improves the physical and/or chemical properties of the web.

  • Patent number: 6780423
Abstract: An adhesive-resisting skin treatment agent for PVC gloves is produced when the glove mold is soaked in a PVC or PVC polymer and a plastisol to form a film after cooling. The gloves are soaked in a polymer adhesive-resisting treatment solution primarily consisting of chitin, trioctanoin, an aqueous polyester resin and an aerosol mixed in a certain proportion. The capillary and the surface of the film on the gloves can absorb such solution and is evenly coated with a film. Thereafter, the gloves are cooled and their edges are rolled up and detached from the mold. The inner surface of the coating has a protective film and gives a soft, smooth, and comfortable feeling to the wearer's hand when such inner surface is in contact with the hand.

Abstract: The present invention provides a denatured albumin lamina, useful for repairing lesions on solid visceral organs. The lamina comprises human serum albumin, formed into a thin, pliant sheet and denatured. The denatured lamina can be sterilized and stored until used. As well, it can be impregnated with a variety of bioagents. A method for repairing a lesion on a solid visceral organ includes applying an energy-absorbing proteinaceous material to a lesion site on the solid visceral organ lesion; irradiating the proteinaceous material with energy sufficient to fuse the energy-absorbing material at least partially to the lesion site; applying a biocompatible denatured albumin lamina onto the proteinaceous material on the lesion site; and irradiating the biocompatible albumin lamina and the proteinaceous material with energy sufficient to fuse the biocompatible albumin lamina to the proteinaceous material and/or the lesion site.

  • Patent number: 6680050
Abstract: The present invention relates to iodine demand disinfectants. It relates in particular to a process for preparing a polyiodide-resin for use as an iodine demand disinfectant wherein a porous strong base anion exchange resin in a salt form, is contacted with a material capable of donating a member absorbable by the resin so as to convert the resin to the polyiodide-resin. The adsorbable member is selected from the group comprising I2 and polyiodide ion having a valence of −1. The process is characterized in that conversion of the anion exchange resin to the polyiodide-resin is effected at elevated temperature and elevated pressure, the elevated temperature being 100 degrees C. or higher, the elevated pressure being greater than atmospheric pressure. The present invention also relates to disinfectant substance comprising an iodine (impregnated) resin as produced by the above process.

  • Patent number: 6656913
Abstract: A method of inhibiting the production of exoproteins from Gram positive bacteria, such as harmful proteins produced by Staphylococcus species, is described. The method is particularly useful for inhibiting the production of TSST-1, alpha-toxin and/or enterotoxins A, B and C from S. aureus bacteria. The method may be based on exposing Gram positive bacteria to alkyl polyglycoside incorporated into an absorbent product. Alternatively, the methods can include causing Gram positive bacteria to come into contact with the alkyl polyglycoside in other forms, e.g., when formulated with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or incorporated in or on a non-absorbent substrate. Typically, the alkyl polyglycoside has an HLB of at least about 10 and an alkyl group with an average of 8 to 14 carbon atoms.
