  • Patent number: 8119049
Abstract: Injection-molding processes and systems are described herein. An exemplary method involves: (a) holding one or more inserts in a desired position within a mold cavity by contacting a retractable core to at least a portion of each insert, wherein the retractable core is a feature of a mold plate; (b) while the one or more inserts are being held in the desired position by the retractable core, initiating an injection of molten plastic into the mold cavity; (c) retracting the retractable core from the one or more inserts while continuing the injection of molten plastic into the mold cavity, wherein retracting the retractable core creates additional cavity space within the mold cavity between the retractable core and the one or more inserts; and (d) continuing the injection of molten plastic into the mold cavity until the mold cavity, including the additional cavity space, is filled.

Abstract: A procedure for sequential molding of an assembled object and a machine for the performance of the procedure are provided. A mold has a stationary front part, a movable back part and at least one turnable middle part. After the molding of the first part of an object, the middle part is turned at least once around an axis orthogonal to the moving direction between the front part and the back part, before the molding of the following part of the object takes place. Injection and cooling can take place in the front part and in the back at the same time. In an alternative embodiment, the middle part can be fitted with insulation to maintain a higher temperature between different regions of the mold assembly, making it possible to mold together considerably different materials such as a thermo plastic material and an elastomer, a silicone, or metal and plastic.

Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus for forming concrete structures, such as railroad crossing signal foundations. The apparatus includes a generally hollow form, which is made from a strong and durable material, such as metal (e.g., steel) or composite material. The form is tapered and includes two halves that are selectively attached together for easy removal from a completed foundation. The form further includes several cantilever bolt holders that extend over the form and include holes that receive cantilever bolts that are incorporated into the foundation. One or more vibrating elements may be removably attached to the tops of the cantilever bolts and/or to the sides of the form. The air vibrators may be selectively activated during the cement pouring process to vibrate the concrete and substantially reduce or eliminate air bubbles and defects within the foundation. A pair of adjustable legs is attached to the form and allows the form to be positioned and supported over a foundation hole.

Abstract: A magneto-generator, a method of manufacturing the same and a resin molding die for manufacturing the same. In the magneto-generator, a guard ring is omitted with the performance of the magneto-generator being enhanced. The magneto-generator is manufactured by making use of a resin molding die (21) having an outer peripheral surface (21d) to be positioned in opposition to an inner peripheral surface of a flywheel (11) and projections (21a) provided in the outer peripheral surface (21d) for holding a plurality of magnets (12) at predetermined positions, respectively. The magnets (12) are positioned and held stationarily at predetermined positions by the aforementioned projections, respectively, and spaces defined between the resin molding die (21) and the inner peripheral surface of the flywheel (11) are filled with a resin. After hardening of the resin, the resin molding die (21) is detached from the flywheel (11).

Abstract: A system for manufacturing foamed plastics laminated panels at a high volume is disclosed. Press modules include a pair of opposed spaced open frame members with longitudinal raised sections attached to perpendicular supports. The open frame members move relative to one another, support respective panel outer skin layers; and recieve therebetween edge sealing members of a predetermined thickness. A spacing between the open frame members and a hinge is adjustable to move a first open frame member relative to a second frame member. Clamps retain the open frame members in a predetermined space relationship, and when actuated, forms a mould cavity defined by the outer skin layers and edge sealing members supported by the open frame members. An inlet introduces an a liquid foamable plastics material into the moulded cavity, and a delivery system delivers liquid reactants in predetermined proportions to a selected mould cavity formed in a selected press module.
