  • Patent number: 6524091
Abstract: An injection molding machine having four tie bars extending through and between a movable platen and a fixed platen each of which carry a half of a mold. To enable the movable platen to withstand the forces which arise during a molding process, a pressure control mechanism including a piston in association with each tie bar is received within a corresponding recess provided in the movable platen and in order to grip the tie bars during the molding process a gripping mechanism is provided which is supported by the piston such that the gripping mechanism and the piston effectively form a single movable unit. The gripping mechanism comprises a pair of gripping jaws which are transversely movable and are moved by way of a rotatable disc which is also provided in the single movable unit.

Abstract: A tube take-up apparatus is provided to handle a length of freshly extruded tube. The apparatus includes an elongated housing in which a pair of parallel, spaced-apart rollers extend lengthwise in a position just below the extruded tubing. The housing is removably mounted on an elongated supporting fin which is secured to the extruder at its near end, extends upwardly between the two rollers and substantially along the entire length of the housing, and is, in turn, supported on a fixed pedestal at its remote end. After the full length of tubing has been extruded, the housing and rollers as a unit are lifted with the tube from the supporting fin and replaced by an empty housing, to extrude the next tube, while the full housing is carried away to a dryer.

  • Patent number: 6517337
Abstract: The invention relates to an injection molding machine having a plurality of modular drive groups which are arranged on the injection molding side and on the mold closure side. According to the invention, at least one of the drive groups is connected to the injection molding machine via at least one multifunction element which, as an interface, makes it possible to optionally connect different types of drives, e.g., electromechanical drives, hydraulic drives, pneumatic drives, linear motors or electromagnetic drives as a drive group in an otherwise unmodified injection molding machine. Independent of the respective drive, space for the respectively used drive groups is provided on the injection molding machine in order to accommodate each type of drive. As a result, the structural requirements for an increased modularity are accomplished by using components which, to a great extent, are identical.

In addition, the mold includes a holder molding cavity provided at the second mold which is constituted by an insert die capable of being inserted into and detached from the second mold main body. When it is necessary to correct a position of a portion of the holder in a trially fabricated base board, a position of an LED inserting hole in the base board can simply be corrected by drawing the insert die for molding the holder from the mold main body and interchanging the insert die with a new insert die. As such, an entire first mold does not have to be reproduced.

Abstract: A vertical adjustment device for a mold closing unit of a hot chamber die-casting machine is provided with a shear mechanism. An electrical servomotor is provided as a drive assembly for spreading the shear mechanism apart, with the axis of the servomotor being parallel to the guide surface for the shear mechanism and driving, through an angle transmission, a spindle oriented at less than 90° with respect to the drive axis of the servomotor. One end of each of the two lever pairs of the shear mechanism is connected pivotably with the closing unit or with the machine frame. The other ends are supported on the guide surface and the machine frame and on a guide surface of the closing unit.

  • Patent number: 6287105
Abstract: An extrusion apparatus including a flex lip and a reciprocally movable actuator bar for adjusting the lip gap, is disclosed. Axial movement of the actuator bar advantageously results in control across the full width of the lip gap. In one aspect of the invention, a handwheel or motor is positioned opposite the output end of the extrusion apparatus. In another aspect of the invention, a rotatable shaft of a control assembly is beneficially disposed generally perpendicular to direction of movement of the actuator bar, and advantageously a portion of the shaft is received within an endplate of the extrusion apparatus. In a variation, a control assembly simultaneously exerts a pulling force on one end of the actuator bar and a pushing force on the opposite end of the actuator bar.

  • Patent number: 6250906
Abstract: A universal mountable and demountable rack-and-pinion structure for a stack mold includes mounting plates affixed to the mold parts and rack-and-pinion mounting elements which are mountable to and demountable from the mounting plates. This arrangement permits the rack and pinion elements first to be mounted in an approximately correct position for the appropriate proportionation of movement within a molding machine. The device includes an adjustment feature which permits the relative distances between the mold parts to be finely adjusted to ensure correct proportionation of movement. The rack-and-pinion structure is interchangeable for various stack molds.
