A pair of hydraulic cylinders controls the movement of the racks, the pinions being coupled to the fingers. The hydraulic cylinders are arranged in a control circuit, the operation of which is timed by a flywheel on the extrusion apparatus. The improved mechanism includes means for adjusting the timing of the finger oscillation relative to movement of a piston driven by the flywheel for optimum operation. Density of the legs of the board is controlled by controlling the timing.

  • Patent number: 4015830
Abstract: An apparatus for applying glue to chips, fibers and the like of wood, bagasse and other cellulose containing substances, which comprises a substantially cylindrical mixing chamber in which a shaft rotates equipped with radially extending mixing and/or glue applying tools. These tools immerse with their head region partly into a ring of chip material rotating at a relatively high speed. The glue applying tools comprises a glue conveying passage which in the lower region of the glue applying tools communicates with a glue feeding conduit associated with the driving shaft and in its upper region has a glue exit opening. The upper section of the glue applying tool has a glue discharge passage extending in a direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the glue applying tool. The end region of the glue discharge passage has at least one glue discharge opening.

  • Patent number: 3975128
Abstract: A housing is formed with a quieting chamber which opens in one direction into a mold and with a mixing chamber opening in another direction at right angles to the first-mentioned direction into the quieting chamber. A pair of reactive components are introduced into the mixing chamber to form a mixture therein. Thereupon a mixing piston or plunger is shifted along this mixing chamber at right angles to the quieting chamber so as to force the mixture out of the mixing chamber and into the quiescence chamber. This piston at the end of its stroke lies with is end face flush and contiguous with a planar inner surface of the quieting chamber. Thereupon a displacement piston or plunger moves the full length of the quieting chamber so as to press the mixture from this chamber into the mold. The quieting chamber has the cross-sectional shape of a circular segment and the mixing chamber is of uniform circular cross-section.
