Rotary Mold Support Patents (Class 425/576)
  • Patent number: 4424015
Abstract: A method and apparatus for injection molding articles from a thermoplastic or similar material. A plurality of molds are mounted on a turntable and are indexed to selected positions as the turntable rotates about its axis of rotation. Radial slots divide the turntable into sectors, each having a mold thereon. A clamping mechanism is provided which successively deflects each sector slightly from the plane of the turntable in order to precisely align the mold thereon with an injection nozzle and then securely clamps the halves of the mold together while the injection nozzle injects moldable material into the cavity in the mold. Interchangeable cavities with different size and shape characteristics are provided in the injection molds and associated with each mold is a resettable indicator designating the particular type of cavity presently installed in that mold.

  • Patent number: 4286936
Abstract: An injection casting apparatus for the manufacture of multiple layer shoe soles in a multiple element mold (11). The bottom of each mold is closed by one of two bottom stamps (14, 15) disposed on the ends of support arms (23, 24) which are mounted about an inclined axis of rotation (42). The bottom stamp not in use is directed radially outward from the apparatus to improve servicing and cleaning. The bottom stamp in use is centered above a raising and lowering device (37) which moves the stamp into operating position to close the mold and away therefrom to rotate the stamps. • Patent number: 4133622
Abstract: A plurality of cylindrically segmental mold pairs together forming an array having an outer surface and each having a mold cavity and an inlet between a respective cavity and the surface is continuously rotated past the end of a generally stationary nozzle so as sequentially to align the inlets with the nozzle end. A plastified and hardenable resin is continuously fed under pressure to the nozzle end which is spaced from the surface of the mold array by a predetermined distance. Thus resin material continuously exits from the nozzle. When the nozzle is aligned with an inlet opening this material enters the inlet opening and forms a body therein and a sprue integral with the body. When the end is not aligned with the inlet the material escapes laterally from between the end and the surface and forms on the surface a generally continuous film unitary with the sprues.

  • Patent number: 4080148
Abstract: A rotatable wheel has cavities formed in the perimeter thereof. Movable coring pins are also mounted on the wheel perimeter and have cam track follower means which ride in stationary cam tracks positioned adjacent the wheel and which move the coring pins in and out of said cavities as said wheel rotates. An extruding means has a nozzle positioned adjacent the wheel perimeter and forces molten plastic into the cavities as they pass thereby with the coring pins inserted therein. The configuration of, and spacing between, the wheel perimeter and the nozzle produces plastic links between the plastic products formed in the cavities to provide a continuous strip of such parts secured to a common carrier, which strip can be wound upon a take-up reel directly from the wheel. Alternatively, movable coring pins positioned radially with respect to said wheel, or at other angles, can be moved in and out of the cavities as the wheel rotates.
