Patent number: 5049343Abstract: A highly efficient and highly controllable method and an apparatus for core-back injection molding of multi-component plastic products. Core-back injection molding makes possible the injection of a first plastic material into a mold cavity, followed by retracting a barrier means, in order to enable injection of a second plastic material without separating any mold halves. The present invention enables very efficient injection molding because both injection units may be operated at the time, and the present invention enables very controlled injection because it is possible to inject only one half of the cavities by a specific injection unit at the same time, or even only one quarter of the cavities by a specific injection unit at the same time. The injection molding apparatus includes a first injection unit, a second injection unit, a right adjustable mold cavity with a first moveable barring means, a left adjustable mold cavity with a second moveable barring means, and a common standard clamping unit.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1990Date of Patent: September 17, 1991Inventor: Jens O. Patent number: 4883671Abstract: A manufacturing machine for sagged self-supporting cable includes a turntable and a drive member for imparting rotation to the turntable. Several die casting members include molds designed to selectively open and close. The die casting member are circumferentially mounted on the turntable. A mold assemblying member is provided for selectively opening and closing the molds. A sag adjusting device is mounted on the turntable for adjusting the position of a main cable so as to be longer between adjacent die cast members than a suspension wire. An injection device is disposed adjacent to a crimping point and moves synchronously with the die casting member for filling the mold cavity with the crimping material for securing the relative positioning of a main cable relative to a suspension wire.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 1988Date of Patent: November 28, 1989Assignee: Kitanihon Electric Wire Co., Ltd.Inventors: Fumio Onodera, Hiroshi Uchimi, Toshio Koseki

Patent number: 4881884Abstract: An apparatus for injection moulding plastics closure elements into apertures in the central panels of a plurality of can ends comprises a first mould tool, a second mould tool, and a mechanism for bringing the mould tools together to clamp on opposed surfaces of each central panel and thereby define a mould cavity enclosing a margin of panel material around the aperture and spanning both sides of the aperture. A passageway in at least one of the moulded tools permits injection of plastics material into the mould cavity. The first mould tool includes a plurality of cavity defining mould portions each slidably guided in a respective bore in the first mould tool and a resilient support in each bore to urge each mould portion towards the second mould tool. A stripper plate surrounds the mould inserts and is formed with an annular recess situated laterally outside of and around each insert to receive the outer circumference of a can end to properly locate the can end.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 1988Date of Patent: November 21, 1989Assignee: MB Group plcInventor: Roderick M. Patent number: 4863368Abstract: An injection molding machine has a mold closing unit arranged on a machine bed and adapted to selectively receive a first type of mold assembly having a central injection opening or a second type of mold assembly having a non-central injection opening; a platform mounted on the machine bed; and an injection molding unit supported on the platform. The injection molding unit includes a carrier block; a plasticizing cylinder received in the carrier block and a feed screw received in the plasticizing cylinder. The injection molding unit is pivotal by a drive into a first working position in which the injection molding unit cooperates with a mold assembly of the first type or into a second working position in which the injection molding unit cooperates with a mold assembly of the second type. The platform has two parallel-spaced side plates which flank the carrier block.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 1988Date of Patent: September 5, 1989Inventor: Karl Hehl

Patent number: 4861251Abstract: An apparatus for encapsulating selected portions of the printed circuit board in a pin grid array using transfer molding techniques. In one embodiment for encapsulating only the top surface and side edges of the board, a vacuum is provided in the lower cavity to hold the edges of the bottom surface of the board flush against the mold plate. In a second embodiment for encapsulating all exposed surfaces of the board, the array pins are inserted in holes in the bottom of the cavity and supported by an adjustable block which positions the board in the cavity.Type: GrantFiled: February 29, 1988Date of Patent: August 29, 1989Assignee: Diehard Engineering, Inc.Inventor: Max Moitzger

Patent number: 4836767Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for producing molded plastic articles which is capable of simultaneously producing and cooling the plastic articles. The apparatus has a stationary mold half having at least one cavity, at least two mating mold portions, each having at least one core element, mounted to a movable carrier plate which aligns a first one of the mating mold portions with the stationary mold half and positions a second of the mating mold portions in a cooling position, a device for cooling the molded plastic article(s) when in the cooling position, and a device for moving the carrier plate along a first axis so that the aligned mold portion abuts the stationary mold half and the second mating mold portion simultaneously brings each plastic article(s) thereon into contact with the cooling device. The carrier plate is also rotatable about an axis parallel to the first axis to permit different ones of the mating mold portions to assume the aligned position during different molding cycles.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 1987Date of Patent: June 6, 1989Assignee: Husky Injection Molding System, Ltd.Inventors: Robert D.
