Plural Mold Cavities Patents (Class 425/588)
  • Patent number: 4095932
Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided for making a continuous chain of interengaged loops, preferably of molded synthetic plastic, which employs a plurality of sets of separable dies with loop forming cavities which are preferably in planes at 90.degree. to form a length of interengaged links, certain dies of each set being advanced to advance the chain, and returned to the beginning for subsequent advance, provision being made for formation of a link engaging an end link of a previously formed link of a length of interengaged links and for making links of the chain of different colors.

  • Patent number: 4090837
Abstract: An injection molding machine in which a support on a base carries oppositely facing stationary mold portions which, when joined by movable mold portions, form a pair of mold cavities, one of which can be injected with a moldable material having a long solidification time, while the other contains a previously injected article which is solidifying and can be released as soon as the injection of the first cavity is completed. One of the movable mold portions is connected to a movable plate in a fixed spaced relationship, with a wedge-type locking mechanism between the plate and the other movable mold portion for the locking of both mold cavities simultaneously with a single locking mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4090831
Abstract: A two color shoe sole is molded onto a lasted upper by first molding the outer sole portion remote from the lasted upper, and then forming a mold cavity with the lasted upper and the outer sole portion to mold the inner sole portion, which interconnects the upper and outer sole portion. This facilitates the formation of profiled shoe soles, e.g., basketball shoes having ridges and grooves in their bottom surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4049231
Abstract: An article having two sections which are articulated to one another by at least one hinge that includes a substantially spherical male hinge member disposed within a recess provided by a surface of a female hinge member. The hinge includes retaining means for confining the male hinge member within the recess while permitting rotational motion of the male hinge member within the recess. The male member is a continuous molded extension of one section of the article and the female hinge member is a continuous molded extension of the other section of the article.A mold for use in manufacturing the above-described article includes upper and lower mold sections which, when brought into mating relationship with each other, provide article section forming compartments adjacent to each other for forming the sections of the article. A female hinge member forming compartment communicates with one of the section forming compartments. A mold segment interrupts the female hinge member forming compartment.

  • Patent number: 4040595
Abstract: An injection molding machine includes a stationary mold half and a movable mold half. The stationary and movable mold halves cooperatively define a mold cavity for injection molding an end closure article having a base and a recloseable tab molded in an open position relative to the base. A thermoplastic material is injected into the mold cavity to form the end closure article. The movable mold half is then separated from the stationary mold half to open the mold cavity, and the tab of the end closure article is closed prior to ejecting the end closure article from the open mold cavity.
