Patent number: 4966788Abstract: Paint is sprayed in a line onto a fiber glass mat just prior to the mat being impregnated with hot asphalt. The temperature of the asphalt causes the paint solvent to flash, the process of which prevents the asphalt from displacing the pigment, leaving the paint pigment in place in the body of the mat. A number of such lines may be formed on the mat at predetermined spaced locations to serve as installation guide lines for the roofer.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 1989Date of Patent: October 30, 1990Inventor: Edward A. Patent number: 4197151Abstract: A graphic laminate for mounting a sheet-like article such as a photograph or the like includes a flat mounting base, a layer of plastic material having a pressure sensitive adhesive coating on both surfaces thereof, one such surface being placed in contact with the front side of the base and the sheet-like article being placed in contact with the other surface of the plastic material to form a laminate with the plastic material lying intermediate the base and the sheet-like article. The description includes a method of making this laminate.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 1978Date of Patent: April 8, 1980Inventor: Glenn M. Muzik

Patent number: 4186229Abstract: This invention relates to a method for manufacturing base plates suitable for being pressed into records. The method is characterized in that a core layer is formed by compressing fibrous material followed by a coating of a synthetic material.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 1977Date of Patent: January 29, 1980Inventor: Johannes F. Roeloffzen

Patent number: 4185133Abstract: Heat curable liquid polyvinylchloride plastisol or organosol resin is coated onto a porous fiber web in an amount sufficient to saturate the web. Liquid resin on one surface of the web is gelled by passing the web around a heated roll which, together with another heated roll, forms a compression nip. The web passes through the nip and around the second heated roll to gell the resin on the other surface of the web, after which the curing of the resin is completed in an oven.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 1978Date of Patent: January 22, 1980Assignee: GAF CorporationInventors: Douglas C. Woerner, Andrew J. Manning

Patent number: 4183979Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for precision placement of a workpiece onto a transport member. A plurality of workpieces are aligned in a predetermined spacial relationship upon an infeed conveyor. The workpieces are then moved transversely off the conveyor and dropped through a pair of counter-rotating lubricating rollers. An arcuate chute directs the workpieces from the lubricating rollers to a horizontally disposed planar surface where they are realigned by a cooperating scraper positioned intimately above. Relative movement between the scraper and the planar surface causes to workpieces to be discharged from the surface and precisely deposited upon the transport member.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1978Date of Patent: January 15, 1980Assignee: Cincinnati Milacron Inc.Inventors: Arnold L. Patent number: 4173663Abstract: Metallic articles, for instance, ferrous strips are metallized, for instance, zinc coated by passing the heated article through a coating chamber and applying thereto a continuous stream of the molten coating metal so as to uniformly and evenly metallize said article. Thereafter, excess molten coating metal is removed from the coated article by hot gas blasting and the hot gas blasted article leaving the coating chamber is immediately cooled. Wiping means may be provided before applying the molten coating metal so as to deflect any molten coating metal dropping from the metallic article passing therethrough, while rollers may be arranged between the coating metal applying means and the hot gas blasting means. Said rollers serve to remove the major part of excess coating metal from the coated metallic article and to stabilize movement of the metallic article passing through the coating chamber.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 1976Date of Patent: November 6, 1979Inventor: Theodore Bostroem

Patent number: 4172160Abstract: A texturized coating applied to one or both surfaces of bare or prepainted metal coil or sheet protects the surface against damage before, during, and after fabrication. The coating consists essentially of a thermosetting resin vehicle and a high molecular weight, hard, paraffin wax which, when cured, at a temperature greater than the melting point of said wax provides a reduced surface contact area of lubricating beads high in wax content.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 1977Date of Patent: October 23, 1979Inventor: Frank R. Stoner, III

Patent number: 4138527Abstract: Self-adhesive webs or sheets are disclosed which are easily marked by ordinary printing means. They are prepared by coating a flexible substrate with a reactive mixture of a polyurethane, an aliphatic trifunctional isocyanate having terminal isocyanate groups, glycerin, microfine siliceous matting agents, and an organic tin ester catalyst. A process for their manufacture is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1977Date of Patent: February 6, 1979Assignee: Beiersdorf AktiengesellschaftInventor: Wasfi N. Malek

Patent number: RE31695Abstract: Two side coaters and methods of coating paper on both sides are disclosed in which a web of paper to be coated is moved in a generally upward direction in partially wrapped relation to a coating roll, so that one side of the web is in contact with and supported by the roll. This one side of the web is coated by a first coating material which is applied by the coating roll. This coating material is applied to the coating roll by an applicator roll, either directly in which a puddle is formed between the applicator roll and the coating roll, or through transfer from a pair of metering rolls in which the coating puddle is formed between the metering rolls.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 1983Date of Patent: October 2, 1984Assignee: The Black Clawson CompanyInventor: Stanley C.
