The carbon fiber shell is molded to match the contours or the shape of the original vehicle component so that, when installed, the shell has the same contours and thus the same physical shape as the original vehicle component. Moreover, the carbon fiber shell is configured to be mounted onto the vehicle using existing mounting brackets, holes or other structure on the vehicle that is provided to mount or secure the original vehicle component, thereby eliminating the need to drill holes into, or apply glue or other adhesives to the original vehicle component. This feature additionally allows the carbon fiber shell to be removed in the same manner as the original vehicle component.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a polyimide resin surface modifier which modifies the surface of a polyimide resin to permit easy absorption of metal ions, and a surface-modifying method for polyimide resins using the same. The surface modifier contains an alkali component, an organic solvent having hydroxy groups and a boiling point of 120° C. or higher, and a water content of 0-10% by weight. The surface-modifying method includes a printing process wherein a predetermined pattern is printed on the surface of a polyimide resin substrate using the polyimide resin surface modifier, an organic solvent-removing process wherein an organic solvent in the polyimide resin surface modifier pattern-printed on the surface of said polyimide resin substrate is removed and a water-treatment process wherein said polyimide resin surface modifier after removing the organic solvent is brought into contact with water.

  • Patent number: 8803001
Abstract: Devices, methods and systems are disclosed herein to describe the wettability characteristics of the material forming a bonding area, a non-bonding area, and a melted bonding material. The melted bonding material may have a high degree of cohesion and may result in a very high contact angle (e.g., between 90°- 180°) in the non-bonding area thereby preventing or limiting the flow of a melted material into the non-bonding area, which often results when the melted bonding material forms a low contact angle (e.g., between 0°-90°) in the bonding area. In other words, by choosing a material for the non-bonding area to have low wettability characteristics when compared to the melted materials of the bonding area or by treating the material forming the non-bonding area to have much lower wettability characteristics, the melted materials of the bonding area may be prevented from flowing into the non-bonding area.

  • Patent number: 8795772
Abstract: Two methods of producing nano-pads of catalytic metal for growth of single walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) are disclosed. Both methods utilize a shadow mask technique, wherein the nano-pads are deposited from the catalytic metal source positioned under the angle toward the vertical walls of the opening, so that these walls serve as a shadow mask. In the first case, the vertical walls of the photo-resist around the opening are used as a shadow mask, while in the second case the opening is made in a thin layer of the dielectric layer serving as a shadow mask. Both methods produce the nano-pad areas sufficiently small for the growth of the SWCNT from the catalytic metal balls created after high temperature melting of the nano-pads.

Abstract: Some embodiments include methods of forming patterns. A block copolymer film may be formed over a substrate, with the block copolymer having an intrinsic glass transition temperature (Tg,0) and a degradation temperature (Td). A temperature window may be defined to correspond to temperatures (T) within the range of Tg,0?T?Td. While the block copolymer is in the upper half of the temperature window, solvent may be dispersed into the block copolymer to a process volume fraction that induces self-assembly of the block copolymer into a pattern. A defect specification may be defined, and the process volume fraction of solvent may be at level that achieves self-assembly within the defect specification. In some embodiments, the solvent may be removed from within the block copolymer while maintaining the defect specification.
