Patent number: 6977094Abstract: A process for producing anti-allergic surfaces, and articles which comprise these anti-allergic surfaces. The process of the invention produces anti-allergic surfaces. The basis of the anti-allergic action is that self-cleaning properties make it impossible or very difficult for allergenic substances to deposit on these surfaces, and make it possible for them to be cleaned from the surface by a simple cleaning procedure using water set in motion. The surfaces may be either textile surfaces or polymer surfaces. Structures composed of elevations and depressions, as have been described on many previous occasions, are applied to these surfaces. The coatings of the invention can be applied very simply by applying a dispersion of suitable particles in a solvent to the relevant surface and then removing the solvent. Textiles, mattresses, or covers, for example, can be provided with the anti-allergic surfaces of the invention.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2002Date of Patent: December 20, 2005Assignee: Degussa AGInventors: Markus Oles, Edwin Nun, Ingo Pauli

Patent number: 6894087Abstract: A novel, easy, and efficient manner of toning shades of toluene-based gravure inks is provided, particularly through the incorporation of certain polymeric colorants therein said gravure ink formulations. In addition, such toner additives provide a toning capabilities of carbon black-based gravure inks that provides jetter black appearances with lower degrees of redness and bronzing on various types of printing substrates than other toner formulations of standard alkali blue types of toning additives. Such printed substrates and methods of printing utilizing such novel gravure toner additives are also encompassed within this invention.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2003Date of Patent: May 17, 2005Assignee: Milliken & CompanyInventor: Rajnish Batlaw

Patent number: 6884491Abstract: The present invention provides a water repellant, water resistant, stain resistant fabric that feels like fabric rather than plastic. The fabric of the present invention is prepared by treating a fabric with at least one treatment composition comprising from about 5 weight percent to about 20 weight percent of fluorochemical(s), which is then backed with at least one polymeric film to provide a water repellant, water resistant, stain resistant fabric.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 2002Date of Patent: April 26, 2005Assignee: Hi-Tex, Inc.Inventors: Craig A. Patent number: 6881441Abstract: An intermittently laying method for intermittently forming laid layers (14) comprising a fluidized substance (13) laid thereon on a surface of a sheet-like member (12) moving in one direction, in the moving direction, the method comprising steps of: folding a part of the sheet-like member (12) corresponding to a non-laid portion (15) between adjacent laid portions inwardly towards a back surface side of the sheet-like member (12) on an upstream side of a coating head (16) for laying the fluidized substance (13) on the sheet-like member (12) thereby forming a continuous surface-to-be-laid (30) on a surface side; continuously supplying the fluidized substance (13) from the laying means to the surface-to-be-laid thereby forming the laid layer (14); bringing back the inwardly folded non-laid portion (15) so as to be flush with the surface-to-be-laid (30) on a downstream side of the coating head (16); and intermittently interposing the non-laid portion (15) between continuously laid adjacent laid layers (14).Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 2000Date of Patent: April 19, 2005Assignee: Kao CorporationInventors: Hideo Kobayashi, Masaki Sakamoto, Masahide Okumura, Hironobu Kawajiri

Patent number: 6866891Abstract: A method for targeted deposition of a nanotube on a planar surface includes providing a ram made from elastomeric material and having a relief structure on its surface. A microfluid capillary system, with an inlet and an outlet, is then formed by applying the ram to a planar substrate. A dispersion of nanotubes is brought into contact with the inlet, thereby enabling capillary force to disperse the nanotubes. through the microfluid capillary system. The resulting dispersion of nanotubes is then dried and the ram removed.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 2003Date of Patent: March 15, 2005Assignee: Infineon Technologies AGInventors: Maik Liebau, Eugen Unger, Georg Dusberg

Patent number: 6863775Abstract: A paper having an improved print quality comprises a paper substrate having a surface with a surface roughness of less than 6 microns and a surface gloss of 5-80% which surface has been coated with a light-weight, low solids content, top coat. The top coat may comprise (i) a rheology modifier/binder component and at least one pigment or (ii) at least one binder coated pigment. The top coat provides a significant improvement to the delta gloss of the so-treated paper.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 2003Date of Patent: March 8, 2005Assignee: Rohm and Haas CompanyInventors: Barrett Richard Bobsein, James Tinney Brown, Zhenwen Fu, Janet Drobits Windisch

Patent number: 6858250Abstract: A method of applying adhesive to major and minor flaps of a container in a siftproof adhesive pattern. A pair of adhesive dispensing guns are moved with respect to the flaps of the container as the container is conveyed past the guns. Electric actuators, such as linear modules or rotatable servo modules, are used to rapidly accelerate the guns in a direction perpendicular to the path of the container along a conveyor. In this manner, rapid packaging takes place and reliable siftproof patterns are achieved using minimal adhesive.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2002Date of Patent: February 22, 2005Assignee: Nordson CorporationInventor: Wesley C Fort

Patent number: 6852378Abstract: An ink jet-recording sheet for forming recorded images using liquid ink comprises a combination of specific compounds, for instance, 1,2-bis(2-hydroxyethylthio)ethane and a homopolymers or copolymer of diallylamine type compounds such as poly(diallylamine)hydrochloride, poly(diallylamine)sulfate, poly(diallylamine) phosphate or poly(diallylamine)acetate. The ink jet-recording sheet can ensure a high density of printed images, can provide images having high quality, shows only a slight color change and discoloration of printed images even when exposed to ozone gas and is excellent in the long-term shelf life.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2003Date of Patent: February 8, 2005Assignee: Oji Paper Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tetsuo Tsuchida, Jun Nishio, Masahiro Morie
