Abstract: The present invention relates to an oriented, particularly a biaxially oriented, sealable, metallisable multilayer film, characterised in that it is built up as follows:ABCBDa) where C is the core layer comprising isotactic polypropylene with an MFI between 0.5 and 4.5 g/10 min,b) A is the base layer for vacuum evaporation, comprising 0.1-0.5% of an organic or inorganic spacer and 1 to 10% of an ethylene/octene copolymer with a density <0.915 g/cm.sup.3, and 89.5 to 98.9% of a heat-sealable propylene/ethylene copolymer with an ethylene content of 1 to 8%,c) B represents the two intermediate layers comprising a propylene homopolymer with an MFI between 2 and 12 g/10 min,d) and D is the sealable layer comprising an olefinic homo-, co- or terpolymer and 0.1 to 0.5% of an inorganic or organic spacer, or a mixture of the two classes of spacer. The film is desirably metallized with a metal or metal oxide layer.
Abstract: The subject invention encompasses a denture adhesive composition comprising one or more adhesive components suitable for adhering to the oral cavity and a denture base and at least one non-adhesive self-supporting layer wherein the self-supporting layer is selected from the group consisting of polyester, polypropylene, nylon, rayon, polyethylene oxide, cellulose acetate, cellulose derivatives, cloth, paper, microcrystalline wax, synthetic fibers, natural fibers, and mixtures thereof.

Abstract: An ionically conductive agent having means for reducing passivation of metal subject to anodic dissolution is disclosed. The ionically conductive agent is interposed between metal to be protected from corrosion and metal to be sacrificed to provide cathodic protection. An electrical connection between the two metals completes a galvanic circuit. The means for reducing passivation can be either a complexing agent for ions of the metal to be sacrificed or can be a membrane to inhibit flow of ions that would affect the ability of the ionically conductive medium to support continued anodic metal dissolution. The ionically conductive agent and a system for cathodic protection using the ionically conductive agent is particularly suitable for a galvanic circuit to cathodically protect reinforcement bars in concrete structures such as transportation bridges, transportation highways, parking facilities, and balconies exposed to corrosive environments.

Abstract: In order to improve the printing capability with high-performance laser printers and the subsequent processing of a single-layered paper article, in particular, a single-sheet mailer having an adhesive coating adapted to be activated for adhering a single layer with itself or with further layers, it is suggested that a component is added to the adhesive coating which can absorb the separating agents used during laser printing and can remove them from the paper surface. According to the invention, additives of oleophilic bentonite and/or polyvinyl alkylether and/or polyethylene glycol are suggested.
Abstract: An improved inner sealing material, which is fitted in a cap of a container has basically a membrane layer having at least a metal layer and a reseal layer having at least an elastic sheet layer, with said membrane and reseal layers being superposed in such a way that one can be separated from the other. The topmost part of the membrane layer is formed of a release layer that is made of a mixture of an acrylic resin and a chlorinated vinyl acetate base resin and which is overlaid with an adhesive layer made of a chlorinated polypropylene base resin whereas the bottommost part of the reseal layer has a polypropylene base resin layer. The inner sealing material can be subjected to high-frequency sealing without losing the inherent capability of assuring smooth separation between the membrane and reseal layers.
Abstract: A pressure-sensitive adhesive composition comprising an ethylene-vinyl chloride polymer containing at least 40% by weight of the polymer of vinyl-acetate to serve as a permanent pressure-sensitive adhesive for bonding front materials to plasticizer vinyl and other substrates.

Abstract: A biaxially oriented laminated polyester film comprising (A) a first layer formed from a first copolyester which is composed of ethylene terephthalate unit as a main recurring unit, and (B) a second layer formed from a polyester composition containing (B1) a second copolyester which is composed of ethylene terephthalate unit as a main recurring unit and (B2) a third (co)polyester which is composed of butylene terephthalate unit as a main recurring unit and is contained in an amount of 1 to 40% by weight or (B3) a filler having an average particle diameter of 2.5 .mu.m or less and is contained in an amount of 5 to 80% by weight in place of the third (co)polyester (B3), the second layer being to constitute a surface to be bonded onto a metal surface when the laminated film is laminated on the metal sheet. This composition can give metal cans, e.g.
Abstract: In order to promote tearing in a clean line of an adhesive film applied by a hand-held device to a substrate by unrolling an adhesive tape from a roller, pressing the tape against the substrate and winding up the carrier of the tape after the adhesive film is stripped therefrom, alginic acid in finely divided form is provided in the adhesive film.
Abstract: A single-layered, plastic and elastic thermoplastic hot-melt adhesive film which does not have a separating layer, wherein it can be wound on and off a reel without the use of a supplementary separating material, is essentially free of antiblocking agents and/or lubricants and that the maximum of its thermoanalytically determined main melting peak is below 90.degree. C. and which is essentially formed from at least two olefin copolymers with polar comonomers A and B, wherein ethylene is preferably used as an olefinic monomer, and whose essential comonomers contain oxygen atoms and the essential oxygen-containing comonomers in the olefin copolymers A and B are not identical, wherein the total proportion of oxygen-containing comonomer in the total weight of polymer resin forming the film is between 18 wt. % and 40 wt. % and the proportion of oxygen-containing comonomers in copolymer A is at least 60 wt.
