  • Patent number: 7066228
Abstract: A (metal/rubber) composite comprising a rubber matrix reinforced with a metallic body adhering to the rubber matrix by means of an adhesive interphase; the rubber matrix is based on diene elastomer; the metal is a carbon steel, the carbon content of which is between 0.35% and 1.2%; to constitute the adhesive interphase, the carbon steel is coated with a metallic layer bearing aluminium oxides or hydroxides, which itself is covered by an organosilane film providing, as coupling agent, the bond between the aluminium oxides-hydroxides on one hand, and the rubber matrix on the other hand. The invention also relates to articles or semi-finished products made of rubber which are reinforced with or formed by such a composite, in particular tires.

  • Publication number: 20040229071
Abstract: An aluminum alloy article is cleaned to remove oxides and organic matter from a coatable surface, coated with a composition comprising an organic resin and a fluorine compound, and then heated to an elevated temperature to decompose the organic resin and at least a portion of the fluorine compound. After heating the coated surface is left with a protective oxyfluoride film that prevents blistering and hydrogen pickup and promotes hydrogen degassing from the article.

  • Patent number: 6815085
Abstract: A capacitive element for a circuit board or chip carrier is formed from a pair of conductive sheets having a dielectric component laminated therebetween. The dielectric component is formed of two or more dielectric sheets, at least one of which can be partially cured followed by being fully cured. The partially cured sheet is laminated to at least one other sheet of dielectric material and one of the sheets of conductive material. The total thickness of the two sheets of the dielectric component does not exceed about 4 mils and preferably does not exceed about 3 mils. The use of two or more sheets of dielectric material makes it very unlikely that two or more defects in the sheets of dielectric material will align, thus greatly reducing the probability of a defect causing a failure in test or field use.

Abstract: A process for making a metal-polymer composites suitable for shaping into container end panels having improved resistance to feathering and angel hair formation. A polymer coating is applied to a metal sheet. The polymer coating includes at least one cured polymer selected from polyolefins, anhydride modified polyolefins, epoxies, and phenoxies. The polymer coating on the composite is then irradiated with an electron beam, thereby scissioning chains in the cured polymer. The metal sheet preferably comprises an aluminum alloy and the polymer coating preferably comprises maleic anhydride modified polyropylene.

Abstract: A steel material that has on its surface a non-hexavalent-chromium type corrosion-resistant coating film formed by a composite of a metal layer and a resin layer. The steel material having or not having a copper layer is formed with 1) a Zn and/or Zn-based alloy layer, 2) a Zn/Ni alloy layer which is on this Zn and/or Zn-based alloy layer, 3) a de-Zn layer which is on the Zn/Ni alloy layer and is obtained by chemically treating the surface of the Zn/Ni alloy layer, and 4) at least one resin covering layer which is on this de-Zn layer, which are successively formed to make a corrosion-resistant coating film, the corrosion-resistant coating film, which is superior in adhesion between the metal layer and resin layer, being obtained by way of taking into account the use of a trivalent chromium type chromate layer instead of a hexavalent chromium type chromate layer (which is a substance that places a burden on the environment).
