The electrical drive system includes a source of electrical energy, an inverter, at least one electric motor operatively coupled to rotate at least one of the ground engaging mechanisms, a plurality of first electric cables electrically coupling the source of electrical energy to the inverter, and a plurality of second electric cables electrically coupling the inverter to the electric motor. The inverter is disposed in the mobile machine in a vertical orientation at the rear end of the machine.

Abstract: An expansion constraint assembly can be attached to the exterior of a kiln cylinder. The expansion constraint assembly may include an outer constraining structure, an inner circular structure, and support structures extending between the inner circular structure and the outer constraining structure. The support structures may extend at an offset angle away from a radial direction of the outer constraining structure. The expansion constraint assembly may also include additional rings disposed between the inner circular structure and the outer constraining structure. The expansion constraint assembly can constrain asymmetric expansion of the kiln cylinder, for example, by relieving uniform expansion as a rotational shift, while restraining asymmetric expansion via tensile and compressive stresses in inter-connecting members.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to processing feedstock materials for recovery, recycling and/or reuse of the constituent components of the feedstock materials, and includes adding feedstock materials at a constant temperature to a thermal reactor, heating the feedstock materials at a temperature of 1,100° F. or higher in an anaerobic environment within the thermal reactor to produce cracked and gasified hydrocarbons and residual material, removing cracked and gasified hydrocarbons released from the feedstock materials from the thermal reactor, further processing the residual material to recover one or more constituent component of the feedstock materials, and oxidizing the cracked and gasified hydrocarbons removed from the thermal reactor having five or less carbon atoms in their molecular structure in order to produce heat to obtain the temperature of 1,100° F. or higher for the thermal reactor.

Abstract: An asphalt plant adapted to use RAP to produce asphalt. The preferred asphalt plant comprises a bin that is adapted to store the RAP, a heat source that is adapted to supply heat, a dryer that is adapted to dry the RAP, a mixer that is adapted the mix the RAP and a means for conveying the RAP from the bin to the dryer. The preferred asphalt plant uses substantially only the RAP to produce asphalt. A method for producing asphalt from RAP comprising providing an asphalt plant adapted to use the RAP to produce asphalt. The preferred method further comprises conveying the RAP from the bin to the dryer, drying the RAP, and mixing the RAP.
Abstract: A method of heating a charge material by controlling heat flux in a tilt rotary furnace is disclosed. Combustion by the burner forms a heat release profile including a high heat flux region. The positioning of the high heat flux region is controllable by providing a controlled amount of secondary or staged oxidant. The burner is configured and controlled to position a region of high heat flux at a position corresponding to an area requiring greater heating, such as the area of maximum charge depth in the furnace to provide substantially uniform melting and heat distribution.

Abstract: A method for burning raw materials by which method the raw material and a secondary fuel are separately introduced to one and the same rotary kiln in which the raw material as well as the secondary fuel are heated by gases formed by burning of a primary fuel in the rotary kiln so that the secondary fuel is converted to gases and solid matter in the form of combustion residues such as ashes and coke. The secondary fuel during the process of conversion to gases and solid matter is kept separate from the introduced raw material, which may ensure that the secondary fuel and hence the locally reducing zones and major areas with reducing conditions are brought into minimum contact with the raw material.

Abstract: A NOx suppression apparatus is configured for use with a burner that injects fuel into a stream of process air flowing into and through a rotary kiln. The apparatus comprises a premix injection system that forms a premix of fuel gas and air, and injects the premix into the stream of process air upstream of the burner port. This enables premix products of combustion to suppress the production of NOx by vitiating a combustion air portion of the process air before the combustion air portion combusts with fuel injected from the burner port.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for manufacturing cement clinker in a plant having a cyclone preheater, a precalcination reactor, a rotary furnace and a clinker cooler. In the process, the flue gases from the furnace are conducted to the precalcination reactor, or even to the cyclone preheater. According to the invention, the precalcination reactor is fed with an oxygen-rich gas, the nitrogen content of which is less than 30%, constituting the sole oxygen source for said reactor, and a portion leaving the cyclone preheater is recycled into the plant so as to obtain a suitable flux necessary for suspending matter in said preheater, while the other portion, rich in carbon dioxide, is adapted for the purpose of a treatment for limiting the amount of carbon dioxide discharged into the atmosphere, such as particularly sequestration.

Abstract: A rotary kiln includes a cylindrical shell that rotates about its own axis and that has a heat treatment chamber provided radially inward of the shell. In the rotary kiln, a heat treatment is performed on a process material in the heat treatment chamber to manufacture a battery material. The shell is made of a carbon material. Since the shell is made of a carbon material, the rotary kiln can suppress contamination of metal scale, which adversely affects the battery material, into the battery material.
Abstract: A method for manufacturing cement by which method cement raw materials, such as limestone and clay, are comminuted in a comminution apparatus for subsequently being heated and burned into cement clinker. Abstract: A turning roll system for rotating a cylindrical workpiece about a workpiece axis comprises a pair of idler rollers cooperating with a pair of drive rollers to support the workpiece. To oppose axial drift of the workpiece, each idler roller is rotatably journalled on a respective idler axle such that the axis of rotation of the idler roller is oriented obliquely relative to a pivot axis of the idler axle. The idler axles may be pivoted about their respective pivot axes to adjust the orientation of the idler roller axes relative to the workpiece to introduce an axially directed force component acting on the workpiece to counter axial drift. Pivoting of the idler axles may be automatically controlled based on a signal generated by a drift sensor arranged to detect axial drift of the workpiece.
Abstract: Disclosed is a process for the calcining and manufacturing of synthetic pozzolan with desirable color properties. Feed material is dried, crushed, and preheated in a drier crusher. The dry, crushed material is collected and fed to a calciner where it is heated to become a synthetic pozzolan. The synthetic pozzolan is then fed to a cooler where it is maintained for a least a portion of the cooling step in a reducing atmosphere.

Abstract: A reactor for direct utilization of external radiation heat includes a containment can having a longitudinal axis, an external driving mechanism for controllable rotating the containment can and a cavity having a cylindrical shape. Abstract: A cement kiln chlorine/sulfur bypass system wherein the equipment cost is suppressed and the sulfur included in a combustion gas bled from a cement kiln is separated and effectively utilized. The cement kiln chlorine/sulfur bypass system comprises an air bleed means for bleeding a kiln exhaust gas passage, which runs from the end of the cement kiln to a bottom cyclone, of a part of the combustion gas, a separating means for separating dust in the gas bled by the air bleed means into coarse particles and fine particles, and a wet dust collector for collecting dust from the gas containing the fine particles separated by the separating means. The separating means is preferably a classifier in which the cut size is changeable. The wet dust collector is preferably a mixing scrubber.
Abstract: The present invention is an apparatus and method for producing a steam and CO2 mixture, as a super heated dry steam mixture. The apparatus includes a rotatable vessel having a combustion section and a steam producing section. There may also be a dry solid removal, a steam production and solid scrubbing vertical vessel, and a heat exchanger. The vessel is partially filled with spherical bodies, and the sections are partially separated by a partition. A discharge section is located at an end of the steam producing section. A homogenizing section has at least one partition wall guiding flow of gases. The process for producing the steam mixture includes mixing a low quality fuel with an oxidation gas, combusting in a rotating drum filled with spherical bodies, and mixing low quality water with a controlled temperature to generate steam. All liquids convert to gas so that there is no liquid discharge.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for processing oil drilling waste. According to the invention, oil drilling waste of one or more types is selected, and is introduced from the feeding tanks into a rotating kiln; and in the kiln, the oil drilling waste is processed at a temperature of 110 to 13500° C. to form granules having a compact-coated surface.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a furnace (10), its method of operation and control. The invention overcomes problems associated with existing furnaces by improving the recovery rate of waste metal. In a preferred embodiment the furnace (10) comprises a cylindrical body of constant internal diameter. The furnace body (12) is mounted on a frame (15) pivoted to a ground members (16a and 16b), the furnace body (12) is adapted to be reclined or inclined or at various angles (? and ?); a burner (30) to heat the furnace, and a door (19a, 19b) for sealing an open end (14). As the internal walls of the furnace body (12) are of a constant diameter, it is no longer necessary to incline the furnace (10) to such a degree in order to pour molten metal, because there is no narrow neck (which previously acted like a weir). In a preferred embodiment combustion air is routed through the door hinge to the burner (30).
Abstract: To provide a cement burning apparatus and a method of drying high-water-content organic waste capable of reducing a danger of explosion at a facility for drying; avoiding decreased value of dried sludge as a fuel: and more efficiently drying high-water-content organic waste. The cement burning apparatus 1 comprises a dryer 6 for drying high-water-content organic waste of which water content is 40 mass percent or more, in which combustion gas extracted from outlet portions or ceiling portions of preheater cyclones 3A to 3D of a cement kiln 2 is fed to the dryer 6. As the dryer 6, a grinding-type flash dryer, which directly contacts the combustion gas G with the high-water-content organic waste W while grinding it, can be used.

Abstract: A warp resistant fuel feed door assembly for use in injecting supplemental fuel into a high temperature combustion chamber such as a rotating cement kiln without substantial loss of heat or combustion gases. The apparatus, which is positioned on the exterior side of a fuel passage transecting the wall of a rotating kiln, opens to receive fuel and then seals during the balance of the rotation of the kiln. Warping, bearing fracture, shaft distortion and jamming due to exposure to extreme heat and cooling are minimized by the sectional construction of the doors. The door includes a plate positioned over the mouth of the passage, a plurality of support arms attached to the plate and a hinge shaft attached to the arms. Stresses on the door structure from inconsistent expansion of the plate are reduced due to symmetrically spaced oblong and oversized bolt attachment bores in the support arms. Synchronous opening of the feed doors is achieved by levered rotation of the hinge shafts by an electric motor.

The drum has an inlet opening for material to enter the drum to be processed and an outlet opening for material to exit. Abstract: A rotary drum for carrying out chemical processes at elevated temperatures which includes a rolling body arrangement for cleaning the interior of the drum, a stationary feed end for the material to be treated, a mounting device for the rolling body arrangement on the feed end of the rotary drum, and a rotary bearing that allows the rolling body to roll on the inner side of the rotary drum wall and which connects the rolling body to the mounting device. The rotary drum further including an oblong scraping device which is arranged between the mounting device and said rotary bearing. Since the scraping device is mounted on the mounting device, it is able to carry out a pendulum motion in at least one direction, but unable to turn about itself, and the end of the scraping device on the side of the rotary bearing is connected to the rotary bearing in such a way that it is able to carry out a pendulum motion in at least one direction.

Abstract: A rotary furnace includes a drum and a frame supporting the frame for rotation about a nominally horizontal rotational axis. The frame and the drum are supported for pivotal movement about a horizontal pivotal axis. A door supported on the frame normally closes the front end of the drum and is selectively pivotal to an open position to facilitate charging of the drum. The door includes a pouring door which is openable to facilitate discharge of molten material from the drum.

Abstract: The powder homogenizing apparatus of the invention comprises a cylindrical shell with a circular section and a substantially horizontal axis, an assembly of cylindrical drums disposed inside the shell and comprising an inner drum and an outer drum, the external face of the cylindrical wall of said outer drum being overlaid with blades, which drum assembly can homogenize the powder contained in the annular space formed between the outer drum and the shell, a space of revolution being formed between said inner and outer drums, and a shaft on which said cylindrical drum assembly is mounted in integral manner, said shaft being hollow and connected outside the shell to a cold air supply system and also connected to an air exhaust system outside the shell; drive means for rotating said shaft are also provided.

Abstract: A rotary kiln for pyroprocessing particulate material includes a cylindrical kiln shell supported for rotation about a longitudinal central axis. The kiln has a plurality of circumferentially spaced peripheral openings provided in the kiln shell near its exit end for discharging pyroprocessed particulate material therethrough. A raised grate disposed over each discharge opening has a generally convex geometric profile that projects into the interior of said kiln shell.
