Vehicle Operator Instruction Or Testing Patents (Class 434/29)
  • Patent number: 11812153
Abstract: Systems and methods for fisheye camera calibration and BEV image generation in a simulation environment. This fisheye camera calibration enables the extrinsic and intrinsic parameters of the fisheye camera to be computed in the simulation environment, where data is readily available, collectible, and manipulatable. Given a surround vision system, with multiple fisheye cameras disposed around a vehicle, and these extrinsic and intrinsic parameters, undistorted and BEV images of the surroundings of the vehicle can be generated in the simulated environment, for simulated fisheye camera testing and validation, which may then be extrapolated to real-world fisheye camera testing and validation, as appropriate. Because the simulation tool can be used to create and readily manipulate the simulated fisheye camera, the vehicle, its surroundings, obstacles, targets, markers, and the like, the entire calibration and image generation process is streamlined and may be automated.

Abstract: One or more techniques and/or systems are provided for facilitating simulation of an application used to access features of a vehicle. For example, an application developer may use an application development environment to develop an application that is used to display information through a vehicle display, obtain telemetry data from the vehicle, and/or modify vehicle features of the vehicle. However, the application development environment may not have real-time access to a vehicle (e.g., while the vehicle is being driven), which significantly reduces the ability to test the application. Accordingly, vehicle parameter signals may be simulated and provided to application code of the application (e.g., the application developer may specify a fan speed as “high”, preprogrammed vehicle speed data may be supplied to the application code, etc.). In this way, the application can be tested as though the application had access to an operational vehicle.

  • Patent number: 10403164
Abstract: A self-propelled driving simulator has a machine frame which can be moved by three, preferably four or more, wheel assemblies on an underlying surface. The wheel assemblies each contain at least one wheel which can move on the underlying surface and which is arranged so as to be rotatable about a steering axle. The machine frame is coupled to a cockpit which contains a seat for a person as well as operator control elements for controlling the driving simulator. The cockpit has a degree of freedom of rotational movement with respect to the machine frame, with the result that the cockpit can be rotated with respect to the machine frame about a main rotational axis, and/or wherein the main rotational axis is preferably a normal vector of the plane spanned by the wheel contact faces of the wheels on the underlying surface.
