An appropriate length stroke is obtained with a sufficiently large diameter driven disc pivotally connected to the extension with a rigid link arm. The tool may be used for powered sanding, scraping, or scrubbing with a wire brush, a bristle brush or an absorbent pad.

The amount of force applied to the at least one abrasive layer is limited by the structure of a resilient element which is coupled to the abrasive surface. Stress concentrators are created in the encapsulant and the encapsulant is removed from the span portion by relative movement of the encapsulated fibers and the abrasive layers. A minimum separation distance between the opposing abrasive layers can be defined, according to the thickness of the specific encapsulated fiber medium undergoing fiber separation, to avoid contact between the abrasive surfaces and the fibers within the medium.

    Abstract: This invention pertains to a power sander particularly useful in the trade of painting, specifically designed when painting louvered doors having parallel slats at an angle therein. When painting unpainted louvered doors, a primer must first be applied. To enhance the smoothness and attractiveness of the same, the primer must be sanded and up to this date it could only be done by hand because no appropriate tools where available. The tool of this invention solves the above noted problem. It is a hand held and light weight tool having an elongated blade extending from its forward end. The blade in its lateral extent is somewhat tapered but the thickness remains the same and it conforms to the space between adjacent slats. The mechanism inside the housing of the tool drives the blade in an orbital manner to simulate hand sanding. The blade has abrasive grit thereon and will sand the surfaces of two confronting slats at the same time.

    Abstract: An abrader blade with integral depth control wings. The depth control wings which slide on a portion of the material being abraded to limit the depth of abrasion. The cutting surface of the abrasive surgical device is covered with abrading material. In a preferred embodiment tungsten carbide particles are brazed onto the blade substrate with an equal quantity of cobalt phosphorous braizing alloy. In this preferred embodiment an additional coating is added with a braze alloy specially developed for medical cutting. The carbide particles, the cobalt, the phosphorous and metal phosphides formed during the brazing process are all biocompatable. These blades are especially desirable for abrading bone material into particular shapes for interfacing with prosthesis parts. Several specific blades are disclosed.

    Abstract: A hand tool for deburring and beveling the edge of a part includes a small, hand-held driving tool coupled to a shaft on which are mounted a rotatable cutting blade and a pair of roller bearings of conventional, cylindrical configuration on opposite sides of the cutting blade. The cutting blade is secured for rotation with the shaft by a nut mounted on a threaded outer end of the shaft to compress the inner races of the roller bearings against the cutting blade and against an annular shoulder on the shaft. Upon placement of the pair of roller bearings against opposite sides of a part having an edge to be deburred and beveled, the driving tool rotatably drives the shaft and thus the cutting blade so as to accomplish the desired deburring and beveling action. The depth of beveling along the edge of the part is determined by size and shape of the cutting blade, the diameter of the pair of roller bearings and the space therebetween.

    Abstract: A blasting device for directed air with entrained blast media at a work surface includes a frame supporting a reciprocal valve, and an adjustable valve limit switch. A shaft is attached to the reciprocal valve at one end, and is supported via a bearing assembly at the other end with a blast nozzle mounted thereto. Rotation of the reciprocal valve causes rotation of the interconnected blast nozzle such that air with entrained blast media exiting the blast nozzle travels along a path beneath the frame. The frame is supported on wheels, and is moved along a work surface by an operator. A vacuum port is positioned adjacent the work surface for removing spent blast media with entrained debris from beneath the blasting device. The handle may be rotated from end to end for ease of operation to assure that the user may move the blasting device in either the forward or rearward direction along a work surface.
