  • Patent number: 10326877
Abstract: A processor-implemented system for supporting use of a reduced driving distraction program on a mobile device is disclosed. The system detects whether the mobile device is in a moving vehicle. If so, a driving mode is set in which driving is determined to be protected driving if the reduced distraction program is being followed and unprotected if the reduced distraction program is not being followed. The system then tracks unprotected driving and protected driving and aggregates the unprotected driving and protected driving. A party is then notified regarding the aggregation of unprotected driving and protected driving. Other drivers can be asked to join the reduced driving distraction program and awards can be given to drivers for meeting pre-determined milestones of protected driving. Either the mobile device or a remote computer may aggregate driving and send notifications.

Abstract: A method of automatic activation of a responder camera to begin capturing a video can be performed by a computing device. The computing device receives an indication of a location or an event. The computing device determines a geographic area associated with the location or event. The computing device receives a dispatch acknowledgement from a responder, where the dispatch acknowledgement indicates that the responder is at the geographic area or that the responder is en route to the geographic area. The computing device automatically sends a camera activation signal to a responder camera associated with the responder in response to receiving the dispatch acknowledgement from the responder. The responder camera is configured to begin capturing a video in response to receiving the camera activation signal.

  • Patent number: 10317219
Abstract: A system and method are provided for generating travel sheds which show the area reachable in a given amount of time by different modes of transport. A travel shed may consist of a series of polygons or other geometric shapes showing areas which are reachable from a given address or location within a specified travel time by utilizing a specified mode of transport (e.g. driving, biking, walking, public transportation, etc.). Techniques are disclosed for enabling the rapid calculations of travel times. In one embodiment, the rapid generation of travel times and associated travel sheds may be enabled by performing a number of pre-processing steps (e.g. downsampling, progressive road type removal, etc.) on road graph data. The pre-processing steps reduce the size of the road graph while still preserving enough of the road graph to generate accurate travel sheds. One example use of travel sheds is to enable searching for points of interest (e.g. homes, apartments, hotels, restaurants, schools, parks, etc.

  • Patent number: 10200816
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are described to provide geographically-related features and services based at least in part upon the data provided by a mapping database, such as by providing for selective communication with user devices in a manner dependent upon a mapping database. In the context of a method, the location of a user device is determined. The method also determines whether the location of the user device is within an inner zone or a proximity zone extending at least partially about the inner zone. The inner zone is defined to encompass a reference point. If the user device is within the inner zone, a message is caused to be transmitted to the user device. However, if the user device is in the proximity zone, a function is performed relative to the user device that differs from causing the message to be transmitted to the user device.

  • Patent number: 10194485
Abstract: A method and apparatus for automated dispatch of mobile devices is provided herein. An infrastructure controller device receives one of an alert and request for a response with respect to an associated location and identifies a first set of mobile devices for responding to the one of the alert and request. The device transmits a first dispatch request to each mobile device in the first set requesting dispatch to the associated location. The device subsequently identifies a higher priority mobile device for responding to the one of the alert and request relative to a lower priority mobile device. Responsive to this identification, the device transmits a second dispatch request to the higher priority mobile device requesting dispatch to the associated location, and further transmits a recall notice to the lower priority mobile device withdrawing the first dispatch request to the lower priority mobile device.

Abstract: An emergency assistance program running on a mobile computing device sends an emergency trigger message to an emergency responder's emergency response computer system. The message includes the computing device's location that is received by the device from a global positioning module and also preferably includes user profile information for the computing device's user. For smartphone computing devices running the program, the program also preferably instructs the smartphone to place a call to the contact phone. The emergency response computer system receives the message from the computing device and begins a group message thread with the computing device. An emergency response module running on the emergency response computer system determines one or more emergency response units in proximity to the computing device's location and automatically transmits the emergency trigger message to at least one emergency response unit.
