Abstract: Device detection in networks with mixed mobility devices is discussed. Devices in the network first determine a discovery mode from a plurality of discovery modes, wherein the determining is based on a mobility state of the wireless device. The device identifies a set of resources associated with the determined discovery mode, wherein each of the plurality of discovery modes is provisioned with separate resources. A discovery signal is transmitted using the identified set of resources according to the discovery mode. Thus, devices with higher mobility will generally send discovery signals more often than devices that are static or semi-static.

Abstract: Concepts and technologies disclosed herein are directed to the optimization of over-the-air (“OTA”) file distribution for connected cars based upon a heuristic scheduling algorithm. A schedule provided by the heuristic scheduling algorithm is designed to distribute OTA data flow to connected cars over the network (geographically) and over a scheduling time horizon (timely), and is capable of reducing the negative impact of OTA file updates on overall wireless network performance. This schedule is created based upon historical statistics associated with connected car driving patterns and simulations of connected car-specific OTA traffic over the network. By leveraging connected cars that connect to different cells at different times based upon driving patterns, the heuristic scheduling algorithm is effective in reducing OTA impact on the network.

  • Patent number: 10991214
Abstract: A system and a method are disclosed for reestablishing a mobile bug communications session. In an embodiment, a service establishes a one-way communications session between a mobile bug and a monitoring device, the one-way communications session providing data from the mobile bug to the monitoring device during the one-way communications session without audio being provided from the monitoring device to the mobile bug during the one-way communications session. The service detects a break in the one-way communications session, and determines whether the monitoring device has activated a remote reestablishment feature. Responsive determining that the monitoring device has activated the remote reestablishment feature, the service instructs the monitoring device to output an option to reestablish the one-way communications session. Responsive to detecting a selection of the option, the service corrects the break in the one-way communications session.
